Konan stared at Mirai Uchiha and seriously asked, "Mirai, are you involved in this matter?"

Mirai shook his head. "Don't overthink it. If I wanted to kill you, I wouldn't need these underhanded schemes."

Konan let out a sigh of relief.

Although Mirai's words sounded harsh, they made perfect sense.

With the strength he had just displayed, there was absolutely no reason for him to stage an act here.

Besides...

He had already warned them about Hanzo Sanshouo.

"What do you think? Do you want to come with me?" Mirai looked toward Konan as he asked.

Konan hesitated momentarily before glancing at Nagato. The latter spoke gravely, "While I'm grateful that you saved us, I must continue living—for both myself and Yahiko."

"Yahiko's dream will be fulfilled by my hand."

Upon hearing this, Mirai raised his brow slightly. "Even now, do you still believe that an era where people truly understand each other can arrive?"

Nagato nodded firmly. "I believe it can, but..." His expression turned grim. "People can only understand each other after they've all suffered the same pain!"

"I'll make every ninja across the world feel the torment of war. Only then will they comprehend those who have suffered from chaos."

"Especially the shinobi from the great nations. Only after deeply experiencing helplessness in war will they finally abandon their arrogance."

"I will make the entire world suffer!"

Listening to Nagato's bold declaration, Mirai felt as though he were witnessing history itself unfold.

Konan, meanwhile, wore a look filled with deep concern.

In her eyes, Nagato had always been a man of deep inner gentleness.

Yet now he harbored such disturbing ideas...

"Long ago, Mirai told me what he intends to do," Konan tried reasoning with Nagato. "He plans to unify the entire ninja world, which means there won't be any more wars."

"With his power combined with your Rinnegan, we can definitely bring peace to the ninja world!"

Hearing this, Nagato merely shook his head slightly. "Konan, Yahiko said I am the savior."

Seeing how stubborn Nagato was being, Konan found herself at a loss for words.

After a long silence, she turned her gaze to Mirai. "I'm coming with you!"

Somewhat surprised by Konan's statement, Nagato questioned with disbelief. "Konan, why would you leave with a ninja from Konoha?" 

"Yahiko was killed by them!"

Lady Konan ignored Nagato and addressed Captain Mirai Uchiha solemnly, "Although I don't know your purpose for wanting me to return with you, I will go back with you as long as you agree to two conditions."

Mirai Uchiha replied indifferently, "Go ahead and speak."

After organizing her thoughts, Konan spoke slowly, "You must help me kill Danzo Shimura to avenge Yahiko."

Mirai Uchiha nodded. "No problem."

He had planned to kill Danzo from the start; her request aligned with his plans.

Seeing that Mirai had agreed, Konan continued, "If you win the next time you and Nagato clash, please spare his life."

Upon hearing this request, Mirai immediately understood Konan's intentions.

Nagato aimed to make the entire ninja world experience pain, which would inevitably contradict Mirai's goals.

The two of them were destined for direct confrontation eventually.

Konan probably wanted to leave a way out for Nagato after seeing Mirai's performance earlier.

As such, Mirai nodded again. "I promise you."

Seeing how readily Mirai had agreed, Konan exhaled in relief and turned to Nagato with a final reminder: "Nagato, be careful from now on. Make sure to survive."

Nagato also understood Konan's intentions and reluctantly nodded. "I'll do it."

Then he looked at Mirai again. "Don't worry, when you finally fall beneath my hands, I'll spare your life too."

"I'm taking Yahiko's corpse with me."

Nagato lifted Yahiko's body onto his back and walked step by step toward Amegakure.

After he disappeared from sight, Mirai Uchiha said to Konan, "Let's go too."

With that, Gold Dust appeared beneath their feet, lifting both individuals into the air as it carried them toward Konoha.

Along the way, Konan couldn't resist asking the question that had been troubling her mind. "Mirai, may I ask you something?"

Lying lazily atop the floating Gold Dust, Mirai replied nonchalantly, "Ask away."

"Why did you save me? And why do you want me to stay by your side?"

She was merely an unremarkable ninja from the Land of Rain. After today, she'd likely be hunted as a rogue ninja.

Why would someone like Mirai Uchiha help her again and again?

Even agreeing to those two rather unreasonable conditions she proposed?

Konan just couldn't understand why someone would go to such lengths for her.

Looking at Konan's confused expression, Mirai replied flatly, "It's simple. The moment I saw you, I decided I wanted you to become mine."

"Eh?!"

Konan's eyes widened in shock. She had considered many possible explanations, but never expected this response from Mirai.

"Become his woman?" she whispered in disbelief.

What kind of excuse is that...

"Whether you believe it or not, this is the truth."

"So...when I do something lewd to you later, don't be too surprised."

His blunt words left Konan blushing.

His personality was nothing like she'd imagined.

If she hadn't personally witnessed Mirai Uchiha's tremendous strength, she would've mistaken him for some cocky thug.

The sky slowly brightened, sunlight spilling over the land.

Looking back at the Land of Rain still shrouded in gloom, Konan wore an expression tinged with sorrow and uncertainty.

From today onward, she would completely bid farewell to her old life.

A faint sadness lingered, and Mirai Uchiha disliked such an atmosphere.

He decided to change the mood.

After hesitating briefly, Mirai Uchiha spoke up, "Konan..."

"Hmm?"

"Take a look at my chest."

"Piss off!"

When Mirai brought Konan home, Mikoto Uchiha and Yakumo Kurama couldn't hide their curiosity.
