Naruto: Ultimate Bang for Buck Shinobi

Chapter 11: Chapter 11 - Advent of War

After a couple of weeks of getting used to their newfound strength, Tsunade and Ieyasu were completely transformed.

Tsunade was currently harder to directly kill than Orochimaru would probably ever be—as long as there was a cell and a piece of her soul left, she could survive.

She didn't have any reincarnation vessels, but with Ieyasu's insistence, she still made a "phylactery"—a fancy name for a chunk of flesh imparted with some chakra and a permanent space-time connection to her soul made by Ieyasu himself so she didn't have to split it.

He basically created a pocket dimensions connected to himself to house the phylactery, then he "grafted" the phylactery's location to Tsunade.

This basically meant the phylactery was stored in a seal-like dimension permanently connected to Tsunade's soul that functioned like a separate personal dimension, like Kamui or the Amenominaka.

Did Ieyasu also create a similar phylactery? No.

He simply couldn't create another one for now, and he didn't feel the need to either.

He'd rather focus on studying the way to craft to craft a permanent, stable and versatile space like the Kamui or Amenominaka dimensions—unfortunately, he had no idea how to even start without any chances to directly observe how they worked.

'This should be what they call a bottleneck in cultivation, it really is a bitch. Why can Obito have Kamui but I can't? Fuck you, Obito! Why couldn't you at least explain your ability in-depth after all the stupid shit you did? I will personally give you a new reason to awaken the Mangekyō this time, rest assured.' Ieyasu always disliked Obito as a nonsensical character that felt like an entirely different person post-boulder, so he took this chance to justify any misfortune he inflicted on Obito in the future—perfectly reasonable.

Back to the topic at hand, Tsunade and Ieyasu were now the strongest combatants in Konoha, no contest.

Even for Prime Hiruzen, a confrontation would only come down to how long he could survive.

This was great news, because the village had noticed some incidents occurring recently, and together, they all pointed toward increased aggression from the other villages.

There were already many covert signs of foreign movements in basically of the smaller countries surrounding Konohagakure.

Ieyasu decided to wait for Sumiha to come back from her mission to talk her into working at the Konoha Hospital full-time and stop going on missions.

He didn't feel like she'd be able to maintain herself safe enough at all—what if she met a Kage?

...

A few days later, Sumiha had returned from an aid and rescue mission.

The mental she crossed the gates of Konoha, she felt a familiar hand grabbing her shoulder.

After arriving home, she felt the need to mention, "Thanks, but please don't sneak up on me like that. Although I can't accidentally kill you, it's really scary."

"Sorry, I was just in a bit of a hurry, I wanted to talk. But go shower while I cook you something."

"Talk? Is it urgent? What's it about?" Sumiha was a bit worried at his serious tone.

"It's nothing serious, I just wanted to talk to you about you about the current situation of the Shinobi world and give you some advice."

"Alright then, make me some chicken soup, then, please."

30 minutes later, Sumiha had showered and the late lunch was ready.

As she ate, Sumiha asked, "So, spit it out, what's up?"

"Look, Miha, you've probably heard the rumors about a Second Shinobi War between the Great Villages breaking out again, right? It's actually going to happen, and it's probably gonna be relatively soon."

"Really? Is it such a certain thing?"

"Yeah, and that's why I wanted you to work full-time in the village hospital. You're reasonably strong, but you can easily die in the war. If you meet Elite Jonin or worse, a Kage-level combatant, you're completely done for. Working in the backstage here is what I think is best for you, I hope you listen to me, Miha. Trust me, I can wipe the floor with all the Great Villages with one hand, Konoha doesn't need you to go get yourself killed out there, and I don't want that either."

Ieyasu wasn't worried about offending Sumiha, everyone knew their level, so of course she also understood how easy it was for her to die in war.

"Is there really a need to worry that much? I can help people a lot more if I'm deployed to the frontlines. I'm not afraid." Sumiha understood, but she wasnt fully convinced, wasn't this against the Will of Fire?

"If you can beat me in a duel, I'll let you do whatever you want. How about that?" Ieyasu really didn't want to waste time with subjective arguments when he could jsut ground her.

"What? Why are you so shameless? If you weren't going to discuss it, why did you say it was advice? Fine, I'll work in the Hospital, so don't worry, your weak little sister isn't going to kill herself, hmph!" Sumiha played the hurt act to try to piss him off a bit, even though she knew he didn't really care.

"Great! That's my little sister, I love it when you listen to me, Miha. Since you're done eating, let's get you registered now!" Ieyasu immediately lunged at her shoulder and teleported to Konoha Hospital to get her assigned there.

He didn't need to bother Hiruzen for this.

After the registering was done, they went out to eat ramen.

Unfortunately, there was no Ichiraku Ramen as of now and there wouldn't be one for a while.

But at the ramen restaurant, Ieyasu spotted a white haired man that looked to be in his 20s. That's right, it was Hatake Sakumo.

To be honest, Ieyasu didn't want to get involved with Sakumo at all.

He wouldn't let the whole rumor thing happen, but he also didn't feel the need to add more key figures of the village to his acquaintance list, he had enough.

Although he thought all that, he still walked over and decided to have a positive attitude, 'I mean, the guy's a legend! And we never got to see him in action. Fuck you, Kishimoto.' After venting in his mind for a bit, Sakumo finally looked back as Ieyasu landed his gaze on him.

'Hm, is that the troublesome youngest student Hokage-sama was gossiping-- I mean, commenting on in his office? He married the Village Princess, huh? Love is beautiful, he sounds like an interesting guy.'

So Sakumo greeted him, "Are you the Hokage's student? Ieyasu?"

"Yes, Sakumo-senpai, that's right. I'm here with my sister Sumiha. Say hi, Sumiha."

"Hi, Sakumo-senpai." Sumiha was already going to greet him, she was mildly annoyed at how Ieyasu hurriedly mentioned it.

Ieyasu had done it specifically to mildly annoy her and break the ice a bit. "So, Sakumo-senpai, I heard you also got married recently, how's the married life? Is the wife boss the gentle or the strong type?"

"Oh, my wife's very sweet, why? Is the Princess hard to handle for you? I've heard that she's a mix of Mito-sama and Lord Hashirama with a youthful spirit, it must take a lot to keep up."

"Tell me about it, partner." Ieyasu then ordered for two, "Three pork and egg bowls for me and two miso bowls for her with two portions of onigiri." That was enough for the siblings.

"Anyways, marriage is still great though, ain't that right?"

"That's right." Sakumo nodded.

"Why are you two talking like old uncles when you're not even 30? Get a grip, you two." Sumiha had to mention the disparity.

"Hahaha, Miha-chan, some things transcend age."

"Your sister's still partially right, you know, who are we to comment when we've just barely graduated from being newlyweds?"

"You have a point, sorry for being too wise and old, Miha. Let's talk about something else, sorry for the heavy topic, but have you seen signs of war in your missions, Sakumo-senpai?" Ieyasu was interested to know if perhaps it might break out earlier than he estimated.

"Well, my last two missions were in the North, I found one Iwa and two Kumo squads roaming in the smaller villages. They were making some suspicious movements and engraving encrypted codes for other people in those vllages. I've already reported to the Hokage-sama and it's not really a secret that they're preparing for war, the question is only when. I'd bet it'll take at least 3 years for a real breakout if they're not hasty, though. It's a shame." Sakumo truthfully described his view.

"I really is a shame. In a way, with tensions so high, the cold war has already started." Ieyasu and Sakumo then went back and forth through different topics and got to know each other.

After saying goodbye and going back home, Ieyasu started to mentally plan his stance, "Shoud I hold back or have no mercy? Well, they never had any mercy in the original as far as I remember. All the villages are war-hungry shitholes. I guess I'll try to focus on assassinations and cutting off supplies, there's no need for uncalled for slaughter. I guess we'll wait and see."
