Chapter 143: Is That You? The King of the Seas?
"Worororo… Nice! That strike blocking me earlier was Conqueror's Haki: Coating, right? To pull that off, you're clearly no weakling! Worororo…"
"This time, King versus King! Let's see how strong the fighters of your world are!"
Kaido laughed gleefully, raising his club and swinging a heavy blow toward the Third Raikage!
"Thunder Eight Trigrams!"
"Great! Lightning Release: Lariat!"
The Third Raikage swung his right arm, clashing hard against the club.
*BOOM!!!*
Their collision unleashed rampant black lightning.
The rock platform, mere thousands of square meters beneath their feet, shattered instantly.
Both plummeted rapidly toward the ground.
"Worororo… Good! Good! This feeling! Hahaha! Come on! Kill me! Or die by my hand! Worororo…"
Kaido spread his arms, roaring.
King beside him spread his wings, flying downward.
"Hahaha! This feeling is incredible! I acknowledge you! Fighter from another world!" The Third Raikage laughed heartily.
Other ninjas, seeing this, used ninja techniques to follow them down.
*BOOM!!!*
When Kaido and the Third Raikage hit the ground, the earth trembled violently. The group had no time to wonder if the two were okay.
They only saw a blue flash—a massive figure charging at its opponent without hesitation!
*BOOM!* *BOOM!* *BOOM!*
The two figures grappled, clashing repeatedly.
Each time infinite black lightning erupted, collisions raged, and the ground kept crumbling.
King, watching from afar, rolled his eyes quickly, his expression indifferent:
"This place's leader has decent strength, managing to fight Lord Kaido this far. But in pure strength and defense, Lord Kaido still surpasses him."
After King spoke, Kaido swung his club again, sending the Third Raikage flying.
"Don't the people of this world master various elemental abilities? Fighting Lord Kaido with pure physical strength isn't wise. Why not use those powers?"
King was puzzled, glancing at the other Empire members in the distance. Seeing their confident expressions toward the Third Raikage, he was slightly surprised:
"So confident in their leader? Seems the opponent's holding back too. But Lord Kaido won't lose that easily. Even if you were a key to Roger becoming Pirate King."
"What's this? What's this? Leader from another world, is this all your strength? I haven't even used my full power!" Kaido shouted.
"Hahaha! A fight like this! Truly spectacular! Big guy, I like you! But you're right! Warm-up's over! True: Raikage Armor!"
The Third Raikage shouted simultaneously, taking another hit.
The blue lightning around him exploded, turning into infinite black lightning enveloping his body.
Kaido, charging forward, saw this, his pupils narrowing:
"Conqueror's Haki: Coating over the whole body? There's such a technique? Impressive…"
*SWOOSH!*
The Third Raikage suddenly kicked the air.
The air beneath his foot compressed into a visible mass, smashing the ground, creating a hundred-meter-wide crater.
Using this force, the Third Raikage reached Kaido in an instant, throwing a punch.
Kaido blocked with his club but was sent flying along with it.
The ground was gouged wildly, forming a kilometers-long trench.
"Looks like the Third Raikage's stronger." Darui, watching from afar, smirked, glancing at King, who'd come with Kaido to the Empire. Seeing King's calm expression, Darui's heart sank.
The big guy hasn't used his full strength?
*BOOM!!!*
At Kaido's final landing point, ferocious black lightning erupted, scattering surrounding rock fragments.
Kaido's figure reappeared, now covered in blue scales, with horns on his head and a swaying tail behind him.
"Worororo…"
Kaido, in his Human-Dragon form, laughed.
"You're impressive, your name's Third Raikage, right? Join my pirate crew! Let's conquer the seas together! Become the sole emperor of the seas!"
"Is this the Devil Fruit Zoan-type power?" Darui recalled descriptions of Devil Fruits from World Number 3 online, his heart stirring.
Other ninjas showed shocked expressions.
The Third Raikage, hearing Kaido's offer, laughed. "Join your pirate crew? Conquer the seas? Don't joke, big guy. Sky, sea, or land—all have bowed to the Empire! Now, the Empire's path of conquest lies only among the stars and other worlds!"
"Worororo… What a pity! Now, let's fight to our heart's content!"
Kaido spoke his final words.
His figure turned into a blue flash and shot forward; the Third Raikage charged swiftly too.
Two flashes—one blue, one black—clashed, rampaging across land and sky.
Their battle lasted over an hour.
Finally, under the Empire members' disbelieving gazes, Kaido, in Human-Dragon form, smashed the Third Raikage into the ground with his club.
"Haa… Haa… You win, big guy. Your stamina and strength surpass mine. I lose this fight fair and square." the Third Raikage, bloodied in a crater, looked up at Kaido, speaking joyfully.
In the distance, Empire members rushed forward, surrounding the Third Raikage, warily eyeing Kaido and King.
"Worororo… My name's Kaido! I'll ask again—will you join the Beasts Pirates? With me, conquer the world! Become the sole emperor!" Kaido looked at the Third Raikage with admiration.
"No matter how many times you ask, the answer's the same, Kaido!" the Third Raikage said.
"Damn it!" Kaido growled, annoyed. "That damn Empire must have other strong fighters, right? Call them! Today, I'll fight to my satisfaction! I want to see how great the Empire's fighters are, making you refuse to leave and aim for the stars and other worlds!"
"Want to challenge someone stronger? I understand that feeling. But the one His Majesty assigned to Thunder Province is too powerful. Fighting him, you won't feel the joy of battle, so forget it." the Third Raikage sighed, his expression complex.
"Hey! You're not messing with me, are you? Your world really has stronger fighters? I came here to become the sole emperor, surpassing Roger! If there's no fighter worth anticipating, that's too disappointing!" Kaido shouted.
"Don't worry, Lord Kaido is far stronger than you've seen." King stepped beside Kaido, speaking.
"I understand. I'll call him." the Third Raikage looked at Kaido and King, nodding seriously.
He glanced at Darui.
Imperial Darui raised his right hand, operating his watch.
An Empire text message was composed and sent: "Sir, we're at coordinates XXX. Two visitors from World Number 3 appeared. One has dragon horns, a dragon tail, and scales, calling himself the big guy, King of the Seas. He defeated the Third Raikage and wants to meet you."
"Received. I'm on my way."
Kaido didn't understand the text but guessed the watch's function, saying in slight surprise, "That's your world's communication tech, like Den Den Mushi? Looks cool and practical."
"Den Den Mushi? I heard in your world, those big snail-like creatures can communicate across millions of miles, even project images. I must admit, they're wondrous creatures." the Third Raikage said.
"Worororo… Maybe that's the difference between worlds! You need our Haki; we need your ability to control wind, lightning, water, fire, earth. After I'm satisfied fighting your world's strong fighters, let's ally! I can offer plenty of treasure from my world." Kaido laughed heartily.
As a Yonko surviving the seas, besides military might, he was far smarter than most pirates.
Uniting various powers, getting what he wanted, and enhancing himself and his crew's strength was his forte.
"Hahaha! No problem, but after you fight that guy, I'd love to see your smile stay." the Third Raikage laughed oddly.
"Worororo… So confident? Seems that guy's strong! This really excites me." Kaido's expression showed enthusiasm, though his heart held little fear.
In the One Piece world, Admirals and Yonko were the pinnacle.
Their power levels were close; no one else could surpass them by much.
Even the former Pirate King Roger could, at best, defeat two Admirals alone—a near-unprecedented record.
Kaido instinctively thought the opponent's strongest fighter might be at this level.
That should be the world's ceiling, right?
"Hahaha… I'm sure he won't disappoint you!" the Third Raikage laughed heartily.
The next second, he turned his head, looking at the distant sky, his expression shifting slightly.
Kaido, noticing the change, turned with King to look.
The next moment, Kaido's eyes widened, seeing a light… moving at incredible speed.
One second ago, it was tens or hundreds of kilometers away.
The next, it was before his eyes.
Two massive hands covered his head, an overwhelming force he couldn't resist pressing him down, slamming his head into the ground below!
As head met earth, Kaido's consciousness faded…
*BOOM!!!*
Around them, the Third Raikage, King, and other Thunder Province fighters saw only a flash.
Then, at Kaido's location, a terrifying explosion erupted.
A mushroom cloud soared, the ground for tens of kilometers shattered and scattered.
King and the Thunder Province fighters were flung kilometers, even tens of kilometers, by the immense impact.
Some Thunder Province fighters, only Kage-level, coughed blood, staring at the explosion's center with pale faces.
"As expected… Since gaining Haki, the Empire's true strongest fighters' power keeps growing… increasingly uncontrollable… One day, we might die from this residual impact…"
"Terrifying… power impossible for ordinary humans."
"Rather than terrifying, call it fortunate. Because of such strong fighters, our future path is clear!"
Many Thunder Province fighters spoke.
King, flung kilometers, dug his feet into the ground, hands braced forward, struggling against the impact, staring at the explosion's center, saying with difficulty:
"What's going on? Did these people launch some destructive weapon? Were their words just to lower mine and Lord Kaido's guard, so they could deliver a fatal strike?"
"Such cunning bastards! Lord Kaido! Please be okay!"
King prayed inwardly.
He rushed toward the center.
Soon, the impact faded.
Dust at the center cleared with a fierce gust.
A three-meter-tall, muscular man in black boxers held a bloodied, near-dead Kaido.
Seeing this, King's heart trembled, his flight pausing briefly, but he steeled himself and approached the center.
As he neared, the muscular man looked at Kaido and grinned:
"That you? The one called King of the Seas? I heard you really want to fight the Empire's strong fighters?"
"Worororo…"
Kaido, gripped in his hand, smiled weakly. "So this is this world's true fighter? A monster among monsters… Under this power, even Roger seems so small…"
"Lord Kaido!" King, approaching, shouted.
"Hm? Another one? Bird-man? Or a Devil Fruit Zoan effect?" The muscular man glanced at King, startling him into stepping back instinctively.
King felt as if a apex predator stared at him, instilling primal fear—a first for him.
What kind of monster was this man?
"I'm a user of the Zoan Devil Fruit—Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Pteranodon." King said.
"Don't be afraid. I have no ill intent toward you. This is just a friendly spar." the man grinned.
His words made King sweat coldly.
No ill intent? Friendly spar? Easy for him to say.
But that sudden strike was too brutal.
If the target wasn't a Yonko like Kaido, if it was an ordinary person, not even ashes would remain.
This is called a spar?
