Naruto Uzumaki: Female Rogue Ninja

Chapter 10: Wind Style·Finger Gun

"Bang!"

The skin on Naruto's fingers was shredded once again by the violent wind. She watched as blood dripped onto the ground, sitting cross-legged, wrapping her hands in bandages while pondering where she'd gone wrong.

All she wanted was to compress wind-natured chakra into a bullet-like shape and fire it—an attack akin to Yusuke Urameshi's Spirit Gun. Unfortunately, her attempts had ended in failure.

"I'll keep trying!"

Naruto glanced at her bandaged fingers, determined to persist.

Half an hour later, Naruto, her hands wrapped in thick bandages, stumbled home, pale and shaky. The ANBU who witnessed her training were stunned, as was Kakashi, who had been observing from the shadows.

"Naruto, stop this kind of training!" Kakashi frowned, appearing beside her. "You're too young. Continuing like this will harm your body."

"I want to grow stronger…"

Naruto clenched her fists, blood seeping through the white bandages. Her pale face wore a heartbreaking smile. "Only then can I control my own destiny, right?"

Kakashi watched Naruto leave until she vanished from sight.

For the first time, he questioned the decisions of Konoha's leadership. Seeing his teacher's child wear such a heartbreaking expression shook his unwavering faith in the Will of Fire.

Were their decisions correct? No, they were wrong… But even if they were, I'm powerless to change them… Questioning orders isn't a ninja's duty.

Kakashi pulled out Icha Icha Paradise, leaning against a streetlight to read. Minutes passed without him turning a page.

Returning home, Naruto avoided the Nine-Tails, struggling to brush her teeth and change her bandages before collapsing into bed.

The next day, Mizuki noticed Naruto's bandaged hands at school. He gripped her wrist, concerned.

"Naruto, what happened to your hands?"

Naruto lifted her hands, scratching her cheek awkwardly.

"I injured them while practicing ninjutsu. It's nothing serious—they'll heal soon!"

Mizuki took Naruto to the school's medical ninja. Unwrapping the bandages revealed gruesome wounds. Mizuki froze. What kind of determination could drive a child to train so relentlessly?

These wounds were clearly caused by Wind Style!

As the wounds were treated, Naruto bit her lip, her pale face grimacing at the sensation of skin regenerating.

Watching Mizuki leave, Naruto narrowed her eyes.

What's Mizuki's angle? He's been testing me. Does he know I'm the Nine-Tails' jinchūriki? What does he gain from befriending me?

Leverage?

Wait! Leverage… To negotiate with Konoha?

A mere Chūnin daring to do that? He's asking for trouble! Am I overthinking?

Maybe he just pities me and wants to be my emotional support, like Iruka. If that's it, Mizuki's overestimating himself.

I thought he had some grand scheme. How boring!

Naruto rubbed her hands disgustedly, deciding to wash them several times.

"Naruto…"

Hinata's timid voice came from behind. Naruto turned to see her blushing shyly.

"Huh? Hinata, why are you in the medical room? Are you hurt?" The former iron-straight pig didn't notice Hinata's feelings, instead inspecting her for injuries.

Being stared at by Naruto like that…

Hinata's face turned bright red, smoke practically rising from her head.

Does she have a fever?

Naruto placed a hand on Hinata's forehead, then her own. Hinata fainted, leaving Naruto panicked, cradling her and kicking open the medical room door.

"Doctor!"

"Overstimulation-induced fainting." The doctor checked Hinata, glaring at Naruto. Noticing the footprint on the door, he sighed, abandoning hopes of charging Naruto for repairs.

"Huh?"

Naruto scratched her head, puzzled. In the original story, Hinata fainted from shyness when Naruto got close. Why's she reacting the same to me?

It's just her personality, I guess!

Despite Kakashi's (and Mizuki's) warnings, Naruto didn't give up. She wanted her own jutsu. After days of pain, how could she quit now?

Lying on the grass, a blade of it in her mouth, Naruto watched clouds drift overhead.

If hand seals channel chakra, can I use them to shape it into my jutsu?

Determined, she stood, clumsily trying various hand gestures.

Time flew by, and subtle changes occurred in the Uchiha clan. Fewer members returned than left.

Under the bright sun, a rainbow formed above a waterfall.

Below it, Naruto skillfully formed hand seals.

"Wind Style: Finger Gun!"

Compressed wind shot out like a bullet, hitting the waterfall and exploding. Water sprayed into the air, halting the flow for seconds, exposing wet rocks.

The falling water soaked Naruto, but couldn't dampen her excitement.

After six months of grueling research—from shattered fingers to deep wounds—Naruto had finally succeeded. She'd created her own jutsu!

Not the original Naruto's rasengan, but a uniquely destructive technique of her own!

Mastering wind's nature transformation wasn't easy, especially in Konoha, where few ninjas specialized in Wind Style. No one guided her—she'd done it all herself.

But the jutsu was still rudimentary and needed refinement.

As Naruto celebrated, ANBU appeared behind her. Her vision darkened, and she lost consciousness.

"Wait! What are you doing?!"

The ANBU guarding Naruto emerged, surrounding the one who'd knocked her out.

"By Danzō's orders. He wishes to see her."

The ANBU protecting Naruto watched helplessly as the Root ANBU carried her unconscious body away. They exchanged glances and disappeared.

The water stains on the ground vanished, leaving no trace. Except for the ANBU, no one knew Naruto had been taken.

In her inner world, the Nine-Tails panicked. What had happened? It had only slept briefly—how had Naruto lost consciousness?

In a dim room, Naruto's eyelids fluttered as she slowly opened her eyes.

"Where am I…?"

A man with his right eye covered by a white cloth loomed over her. "Uzumaki Naruto. As a Ninja Academy student not yet a genin, you obtained the scroll containing Wind Style: Gale Palm with Mizuki's help and created a new Wind Style jutsu."

Naruto instantly recognized him: the scar on his chin, the covered right eye—it was Danzō!

"Why bring me here?" Naruto blinked innocently, confusion feigned.

Though her heart cursed Danzō's entire lineage, Naruto hid her anger.

"For Konoha's sake, Uzumaki Naruto, hand over your jutsu." Danzō gestured grandly. Root ANBU placed a blank scroll and pen before her.

As if surrendering her hard-earned creation was her duty! One "for Konoha" and they'd seize her efforts!

Danzō's true goal wasn't her jutsu but to warn her about her contact with Uchiha Tobirama. He wanted her to stay away from the Uchiha clan, using the jutsu as a pretext.

Naruto gripped the pen, head bowed, eyes closed as if pondering. In truth, she hid her fury and resentment.

Her parents died for Konoha, yet this was her reward! Arrogantly demanding her jutsu!

I'm so furious!

Consumed by hatred, Naruto didn't realize her meeting with Tobirama had aroused Danzō's suspicion. He'd struck while the Third Hokage was away.
