'We, in fact, couldn't find them...'.

I did not expect it to be easy, but however, not finding a single trace or clue was something that was a bit too much for my pride.

'All that search for nothing, huh?'.

I looked towards my short friend, who was busy playing with his kunai... some new trick about making them suddenly appear.

'Now that I think about it, he taught that to Itachi, didn't he?'.

Throwing a kunai playfully at his arm, I broke him from his boring sense of wasting time...

"What, tired already?"

He looked at me with his eyes raised, "Kagami, it's been a while; I think my answer's pretty obvious.".

'Sassy much.'.

And yes, it had in fact been a wild day. I searched the local bars, the hot springs, and checked for any gossip about a certain samurai.

'Nope, no clue,' ...

I guess my career as a bounty hunter isn't looking as good as I hoped it would be.

"Well, we should start moving then." After the initial sense of disappointment, there wasn't much I could do.

'It is what it is.'.

"Yup, right about something finally. We don't even know any tracking techniques. You were supposed to find him with what? luck? " The young kid had gotten quite a bit cozy with me ...

A bit too cozy for my taste.

"I thought Uchiha's were supposed to act all edgy and noble, what with your sassy tongue today." My eyebrows raised.

"Well, for one, I told you so, and second, we are late; the competition will start the day after tomorrow.".

His eyes had that, 'You are irresponsible' look on them.

I just shrugged, 'Well, luck isn't looking today...'.

"Let's move."

He nodded, and soon we were on our journey.

Safe to say it wasn't a very long one, atleast compared to ones where we would have been running whole days.

Seven hours of constant running at full pace, and we had made it to the land of iron's closest town we could find.

And boy was the climate different.

'Chilling to be precise...'.

Snow was all around us, and some new purchases of clothes were in order.

The ground was filled with snow to the brim; my shoes had already frozen, so I had to leave the poor bunch.

The town itself was pretty prosperous, with the kids running in the open and old ladies playing some kind of board game; it seemed the war had yet to reach this place.

'They look truly peaceful.'

not that it matters, Making my way onto the place, I came across a large mansion.

'And that would be the chief of this town.'.

"So that's the town mayor's house; it's pretty much packed with security," Shisui spoke from my side.

Without looking at him, I responded, "Yeah, they are packing quite an army here.".

Making my way to the front lawn, I was greeted with clear hostility from two guards who had their spears drawn.

'Spear? in this age and day.'.

"Tourists cannot enter this area. Go at once." Their voices were resolute.

'Rude bunch.'.

"Tell your boss I am here for the position of representative for this year's competition.".

That sure brought a reaction from them, as they looked at me wide-eyed.

One of them shouted at me, "You dare challenge Lord Hizuna for a battle?".

"Yeah, that's the rules, dumbass; now go obey...".

His eyes looked livid at my response.

'I have just wasted a day of searching for a fight and another seven hours running, so yes...I have my right to be rude.'.

"Don't worry, Zaru; he is but an immature traveler; he will soon face the reality himself.". the other gaurd calmed him friend before he could jump on me.

"You shall enter to challenge Lord Hizuna, but should you lose, he may bestow death upon you." The calmer guard looked me in the eye. "Is that clear?".

I nodded, and the man let me enter.

However, before Shisui could enter, he pushed his hand in the way, "The kid stays out.".

I turned to look towards my friend, "Don't worry, Shisui, I will win.".

He nodded at that and backed out.

I, on the other hand, moved into the place, and to say it was luxurious wasn't doing it right.

'This town has some serious money.'.

Moving my way into the main compound, one of the guards had followed me as a guide.

'More like a guard' ...

The place was filled with vases and artworks; there were katanas hung on the wall with embroidery done on it as well as carpets of smooth silk strewn on the floor.

The outer compound had grass all over it, with servants helping trim most of them.

I hadn't come to the garden yet; however, the smell of fresh flowers was evident.

"This way," the guard pointed at the door.

Entering the door led to a hallway, with slitted windows illuminating the place.

"Now wait outside; let me inform the lord.". The man gave me a precautionary, dangerous look.

"I don't have any plans of trespassing either, buddy; move along," I spoke and slid my shoulder on the supporting pillar.

He nodded and went in.

'I either secure fifteen points today, or I get embarrassed...let's see how this plays out.'

' I am definitely joining the Anbu later on, I got to get better at tracking ' . I thought while waiting for the man to arrive.

The door opener and the guard signaled with his hand and spoke, "The lord has given permission to enter.".

I nodded and entered the place...light assaulted my eyes as the sudden change from the dim corridor was too much.

Opening them after a few seconds, I could make out the room.

"So you are the one who wants to challenge our pride, Hizuna?" The slightly overweight man with silk noble garments looked at me.

'That must be the lord.'

His eyebrows were tilted, clearly showing his amusement at the situation.

"Do you think you can defeat him?" he pointed towards the man standing on his right.
