Slow winds bristled at my face; my eyelids fluttered to see the ethereal scene in front of me. The cold winter climate had made itself at home in this foreign land.

Soft snow fell like little drizzles of rain... I could see children running around in knee-deep snow.

Looking towards the right, I saw Mokama's huge figure standing beside me.

"Mhmm." I nodded and continued enjoying the scenery.

His hand placed itself on my shoulder, I could tell by his voice that he was about to say something serious.

"These last few days, I have seen it, Kagami," he spoke, his words hinting at some unspoken message.

"I won't say it; however, I would ask you to rethink your admission to the competition," he continued once again, his eyes looking towards a distant horizon.

These last few days at the manor were filled with sparring with Mokama, spending time with Shisui, and perfecting my chakra sword.

"Do you think I can't do it?" I turned towards the man, seeing the stoic face I had gotten used to turning into one of concern; I was touched...to say the least.

"Since when does the great Mokama become so soft?" I punched him in his core slightly, "Old man, trust me when I say this, I will win.".

He turned somber at that, "If that is your choice, then I can't say otherwise.".

He looked towards one of the children playing in the field. "My disciple to me is similar to that child, and so are you... However, I wouldn't want either of you to die."

Looking at the towering man showing such a weak side of him to me, I spoke with sincerity, "I can't promise you mercy, nor can you make your disciple promise that; however, only the strong are capable of mercy... If I deem myself strong, I will show mercy.".

I spoke to ease his worries; he seemed a bit relieved at that.

"I hope so, regardless…my disciple...he is a bit of an oddball," he spoke with a slight smirk edging at his face.

"Oddball?" I asked the man.

He nodded, "You will know when you see him.".

I smiled, "You sure make everything sound exciting, you old man." I fist bumped him and continued, "Care for a last spar?".

"Haahah haha," his laughter boomed in the air, "Seems like I haven't beaten you enough yet.".

Standing in the middle of the arena where we had sparred, I looked him straight in the eyes.

Taking my sword out of my sheath, I urged him to start.

A smirk adorned my face.

While the system didn't show how much my strength increased accurately, I myself knew how much better I had gotten.

My sword techniques had gotten sharper, faster, and far more deadly; my chakra sword's edge would now make even chūnins fear me.

'The system only shows progress for what I master of its resources, not something outside of what the White Fang did himself.'.

"Alright then, I am coming, Kagami," he shouted while suddenly moving in front of my face.

That's why I always had to predict where the man was going to land.

Our swords clashed; however, knowing the difference in strength, I quickly parried his sword with the fast kata.

Fast Kata seamlessly flowed through my veins, my. sword parrying, slashing at whatever opening i could find.

'Fast Kata barrage'

Mixing body flicker with the fast Kata, I spread throughout the ground, appearing at random places and attacking Mokama.

The man himself was fighting with the epitome of gracefulness.

His sword was like an extension of his own body, parrying all of my attacks as if he were dancing.

His body turned to the right and left with so little effort; it boggled me how bad Hizuna was at this.

'Whirlwind technique is not just about strength; it's about torque with the gracefulness of a ballet dancer.'.

I upped the use of body flicker, appearing crouched at some places while jumping at others.

Our swords clashed about a dozen times before the man who was on the defensive started attacking.

His sword came with the force of an entire mountain; his blade, which was already a meter long, was made even longer with the chakra sword attached to it.

Flicking her out of the way, I tried to make distance between us.

'Fuck, he isn't letting me get away.'

His sword, which was a meter away, sped up, making its way once again at my head.

' This is where I mostly lose'

The thing with the whirlwind technique is that his first strike is just the start; with every increase in torque, his speed and strength increase.

'However, I know its weakness now.'

Seeing his speed almost having made its way to me, I quickly shun-shined to a random location in the arena.

'He always has to predict where I will be landing.'

Unfortunately for the old man, he didn't have a Sharingan.

"So you finally understood, you brat," he spoke, laughing once again.

"Of course I did. Now how about starting to attack rather than yapping?".

"Young ones nowadays," I heard him mutter as he increased his speed once again, appearing in front of me.

His sword slicing with the intention of making Kagami into 'Kag-ami.'

'whirlwind technique, rotational defense'

Twisting my body to the peak of what my muscles could handle, my body took a very weird-looking pose.

Releasing all that power in my muscles, I turned with all my might.

"Arghh!" I shouted and slashed at his appearing blade.

"Cough cough," coughing to ease the blinding pain in my body, I winced as I tried to stand up.

A sword was placed at my shoulder; looking upwards, I saw the old man smirking.

"The right answer was to dodge, brat."

I nodded at him as I held my aching ribs...

He slid his hand under my shoulder, hoisting me up... He spoke, "Let's get you some meds.".

Walking me towards the medical room, I collapsed on the bed in a moment.

'Gotta learn medical ninjutsu when I come back.'.
