Naruto: Who Needs Rasengan When You Can Morph Into a Monster?

Chapter 3: Chapter 3: The Genetic Revelation

---

Naruto woke up the next morning feeling... different. He couldn't quite put his finger on what it was, but something had changed during the night. His body felt stronger, more balanced, like pieces of himself that had never quite fit together were finally clicking into place.

He stretched and yawned, then immediately looked down at his left wrist. The orange and black device was still there, no longer glowing but somehow feeling warm against his skin.

"Okay, mystery watch," he said, sitting up on his bed. "Time to figure out what you can do."

He was about to poke at the device when he caught his reflection in the mirror across the room. Something was wrong—or rather, something was different.

"What the hell?" He jumped up and rushed to the mirror, staring at his reflection in confusion.

His whisker marks were gone.

The three distinctive lines that had marked his cheeks since birth—the physical evidence of the Nine-Tails sealed within him—had completely vanished. His face was smooth, unblemished, and somehow more... refined? His features seemed sharper, more defined, like someone had taken a rough sketch and turned it into a masterpiece.

"Okay, that's definitely not normal," he muttered, touching his cheeks. "Did this thing do something to me while I was sleeping?"

As if responding to his question, the Omnitrix on his wrist began to glow softly. Suddenly, information flooded his mind—not overwhelming like before, but gentle, like someone was calmly explaining something important.

[Genetic repair protocol activated. Host genetics analyzed. Multiple bloodline instabilities detected and corrected.]

"Bloodline instabilities?" Naruto blinked. "What does that mean?"

More information flowed into his consciousness, and his eyes widened as he began to understand what had happened to him.

[Host genetic profile: Uzumaki bloodline (Ōtsutsuki derivative) + Nine-Tails chakra integration + Asura chakra reincarnation. Previous configuration: Unstable, conflicting energies causing physical mutations and chakra irregularities. Current configuration: Optimized, harmonized, fully integrated.]

"So you're saying," Naruto said slowly, "that I'm not just an Uzumaki, but I'm descended from... what did you call them? Ōtsutsuki? And I have the Nine-Tails' chakra AND some guy named Asura's chakra all mixed up inside me?"

The device pulsed in confirmation.

"And all of that was making me... unstable? Is that why I could never do the regular Clone Jutsu? Why my chakra was always so wild?"

Another pulse of confirmation.

"Huh." Naruto looked at his reflection again, noticing other subtle changes. His hair seemed more vibrant, his eyes clearer and more focused. Even his posture felt different—straighter, more confident. "So you fixed me? Made all those different bloodlines work together properly?"

[Affirmative. Host genetics now optimized for maximum potential. All bloodline abilities accessible and stable. Physical mutations removed. Chakra pathways restructured for optimal flow.]

"That's... actually pretty awesome," Naruto grinned. "I feel amazing! Like I could take on the world!"

But his celebration was interrupted by a strange sensation—like someone else was trying to get his attention from inside his own head.

"Kit."

Naruto froze. That voice was deep, rumbling, and definitely not his own thoughts.

"Uh, hello?" he said aloud, feeling slightly ridiculous for talking to himself.

"So, you can hear me now. Interesting. That device of yours has done more than just 'fix' your genetics—it's strengthened our connection."

"Our connection?" Naruto's eyes widened. "You're... you're the Nine-Tails, aren't you?"

"That is what humans call me, yes. Though I do have a name, kit. Few have ever bothered to ask."

"Well, what is it? I mean, if we're going to be stuck together, I should know what to call you."

"...Kurama. My name is Kurama."

"Kurama," Naruto repeated, testing the name. "I like it. It's way better than 'Nine-Tails' or 'demon fox.'"

"You're... the first human to use my actual name in decades."

"Yeah, well, I'm not most humans," Naruto said, sitting back down on his bed. "Besides, from what I understand, you're not really a monster either. You're just... really, really powerful. And probably really, really angry about being sealed inside people for years."

There was a long pause, and Naruto could almost feel the giant fox's surprise.

"You're... not afraid of me?"

"Should I be?" Naruto asked honestly. "I mean, you're inside me, right? If you wanted to hurt me, you probably would have done it already. And yesterday, when Mizuki was attacking, I felt your chakra helping me. You could have just let me get killed, but you didn't."

"...You're definitely not like other humans," Kurama admitted. "Most would be terrified, or trying to suppress me, or demanding I give them more power."

"Yeah, well, I'm not really interested in taking power from someone else," Naruto said, looking at the Omnitrix on his wrist. "I'd rather earn it myself. But I wouldn't mind being friends with the most powerful tailed beast in existence."

"Friends?" The concept seemed to genuinely confuse Kurama. "You want to be... friends... with me?"

"Why not? We're stuck together anyway, right? Might as well make the best of it." Naruto grinned. "Besides, I bet you've got some incredible stories. You've been around for centuries—you must have seen some amazing things."

"I... yes. I have." Kurama's voice was softer now, less hostile. "But tell me, kit—what is that device on your wrist? I can sense immense power from it, but it's unlike anything I've ever encountered."

"This?" Naruto held up the Omnitrix. "This is going to make me a hero. Watch this."

He stood up and walked to the center of his small apartment, then raised the device. The hourglass symbol was glowing softly, and when he touched it, a holographic interface appeared—a green holographic circle with alien silhouettes rotating around it.

"Okay, let's see what we've got here," he said, scrolling through the options. "Four Arms... Heatblast... Diamondhead... oh, this one looks cool!"

He selected an alien that looked like it was made of living crystal and slammed down on the Omnitrix's face.

The transformation was incredible. Orange light engulfed his body, and when it faded, Naruto had been replaced by a humanoid figure made entirely of green crystal. His body was angular and geometric, with crystal shards jutting from his back and arms. When he moved, he could hear the sound of crystal chiming softly.

"Diamondhead!" he said, his voice now having a crystalline quality. "This is so cool!"

He held up one hand and concentrated. A crystal formation erupted from his palm, growing rapidly until it was taller than he was. With a flick of his wrist, he reshaped it into a perfect sword.

"Impossible," Kurama breathed. "You've transformed into a completely different species. Your chakra signature has changed entirely, but you're still... you."

"Pretty awesome, right?" Diamondhead grinned. "Apparently, I can turn into all sorts of different aliens. Each one has different powers and abilities."

He experimented for a few more minutes, creating crystal constructs, reshaping his limbs, and even launching crystal projectiles with pinpoint accuracy. Finally, the Omnitrix began beeping, and he transformed back into his normal human form.

"That was amazing!" he said, flopping back onto his bed. "I can't wait to try the others!"

"Kit," Kurama said, his voice serious. "That device... it's not from this world, is it?"

"Nope," Naruto said cheerfully. "It's from a whole different dimension. Pretty crazy, right?"

"And you're not concerned about the implications of wielding such power?"

Naruto considered this for a moment. "You know what? I should probably be more worried about it. But honestly? I've been dreaming about being a hero my whole life. I've wanted to be someone who could protect people, who could make a difference. And now I have the power to do exactly that."

He looked at the Omnitrix with genuine affection. "This isn't just about having cool powers. It's about having the ability to be the hero I've always wanted to be. And if that means I have to be responsible for something this powerful, then I'll do whatever it takes to be worthy of it."

"...You really mean that, don't you?"

"Of course I do. Great power, great responsibility, right? That's what heroes do—they take on the burden of protecting others, even when it's difficult."

Kurama was quiet for a long moment. **"You know, kit, in all my centuries of existence, I've never met a human quite like you. Most seek power for themselves, to dominate others or to prove their superiority. But you... you genuinely want to help people."**

"That's the plan," Naruto said with a grin. "Though I wouldn't mind having a few million fans cheering my name while I do it."

"Ha! Now that sounds more like a typical human."

"Hey, even heroes need appreciation sometimes," Naruto laughed. "Speaking of which, I should probably get ready for today. I'm officially a genin now, which means I'll probably be getting my team assignment soon."

As he got up to get dressed, he caught sight of his reflection again. Without the whisker marks, he looked completely different—older, more mature, and somehow more... heroic.

"You know what, Kurama?" he said, adjusting his orange jacket. "I think this is going to be the start of something incredible."

"I believe you may be right, kit. And for what it's worth... I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of hero you become."

Naruto grinned and headed for the door. "Come on then, partner. Let's go show the world what Naruto Uzumaki, hero extraordinaire, can do!"

As he walked through the village streets, people did double-takes. Without his whisker marks, many didn't immediately recognize him as the "demon child" they'd feared and whispered about. Some even smiled and nodded politely, treating him like any other young ninja.

"You know what?" he said quietly to Kurama. "I think I could get used to this."

"Don't let it go to your head, kit. You still have a long way to go before you're a true hero."

"Yeah, but now I actually have the tools to get there," Naruto said, glancing at the Omnitrix on his wrist. "And the best part? I don't have to do it alone."

He quickened his pace toward the Academy, excitement building in his chest. Team assignments were today, and he couldn't wait to see what kind of missions awaited Konoha's future greatest hero.
