Chapter 7: Chapter 7

Chapter 7 Ohbito's Embarrassment

In front of him were neatly arranged targets, while behind him, a group of curious onlookers gathered.

With his hands casually in his pockets, Obito stood confidently.

Suddenly, he moved!

With a sweep of his sleeve, countless shuriken flew out of his hands.

In an instant, shuriken flew in nearly every direction, covering a 360-degree area, leaving everyone around in shock.

"Shuriken Throw-All-Around Jutsu!" Obito said dramatically as he turned around.

What he received in return, however, was the teacher's fist the size of a boulder.

"Obito! I told you to aim at the target, not throw at your classmates and the teacher!!!"

The teacher held several shuriken between the fingers of his left hand, having caught them in the nick of time.

If Kakashi and the others hadn't helped deflect some, there was a chance Obito would have injured his fellow students.

"Sorry, sensei," Obito said, looking up at the teacher with wide, innocent eyes that had a touch of pity in them.

The teacher's heart softened as he sighed and said, "Go sit down, Obito. Don't let this happen again."

"Yes, yes, yes!" Obito nodded repeatedly, relieved that he had escaped further punishment.

"Obito~ where did you learn that move? Don't tell me you learned it from some perverted guy?" Haneda teased with a grin.

"How did you know?!"

Obito looked shocked. He had learned that technique from a certain perverted man at a secret waterfall, and not even the women bathing nearby had noticed them. There was no way anyone else could know!

"Heh… I know everything," Haneda replied mysteriously.

"Get lost! Damn you, Haneda, always trying to mess with me!" Obito yelled.

Haneda had only guessed. There were plenty of people in Konoha who could use such a technique, but only one person would dare to teach it.

That person was none other than Jiraiya!

In the original story, Jiraiya pulled a similar stunt, and in a way, he mirrored Obito.

Of course, Jiraiya's version was more advanced—he had intended to demonstrate the Shuriken Shadow Clone Jutsu.

After Obito's turn, it was Haneda's.

He noticed the teacher's eyes on him, clearly indicating that he was being watched closely.

After all, he'd been late that morning, and his class ranking wasn't far off from Obito's.

Being at the bottom of the class, just like the top students, often made you the focus of the teacher's attention.

Haneda thought for a moment and decided to play it safe, aiming for a middle-of-the-road performance, much like a certain strategist would—keeping his score right at the passing line.

Not too high, not too low, just enough to be acceptable.

The teacher glanced at Haneda, offering a few words of encouragement but ultimately saying nothing more.

After the shuriken training came the sparring matches.

The teacher held the student roster and began calling names.

"First match: Uchiha Obito versus Might Guy."

Upon hearing his name, Obito confidently shoved his hands into his pockets and strutted to the center of the field.

"Hey! Bowl-cut! You were laughing the loudest earlier, weren't you?"

"What happened earlier?" Guy scratched his head, looking completely confused.

He had been too immersed in his "youthful" training and hadn't noticed Obito's performance.

Plus, with his poor memory, anything he didn't pay attention to may as well have never happened.

"Damn it! How dare you ignore me, Uchiha Obito!" Obito waved his fists and shouted.

Both Obito and Guy were at the bottom of the class, with equally poor academic records.

When two "dead lasts" faced each other, it was hard for either of them to respect the other!

Just as the teacher raised the flag to signal the start of the match, a familiar voice rang out.

"Obito, good luck!"

Obito looked toward the source of the voice—it was Rin!

His face flushed red as he fell into a genjutsu stronger than *Kotoamatsukami*, his mind swirling with thoughts.

'Rin's watching me! She's cheering for me!!'

'(✿ ♥‿♥)'

'Does she like me? Should I respond?'

...

"Ahhhh!"

A swift roundhouse kick ended Obito's daydream, sending him crashing to the ground, his goggles clattering to the dirt.

"Winner: Might Guy," the teacher announced.

The teacher glanced down at Obito, who lay on the ground rubbing his face, and sighed softly.

Looking into Obito's clear yet foolish eyes, the teacher couldn't help but feel a sense of failure in his educational career.

Meanwhile, Haneda, watching from the sidelines, struggled to hold back his laughter.

Honestly, he felt like Obito, with his lovestruck brain, was beyond saving at this point.

After Rin helped Obito off the field, the teacher called the next match:

"Second match: Uchiha Haneda versus Sarutobi Asuma."

Asuma confidently walked to the center of the field, but before he could get into position, Haneda casually said:

"Sensei, I forfeit."

Huh???

The teacher was stunned. They hadn't even started, and he was already forfeiting?

And from an Uchiha no less!

Asuma, being a brash young man, naturally looked down on Haneda's immediate surrender.

He sneered, "An Uchiha, but no courage to even fight?"

Haneda couldn't be bothered to deal with this wannabe shadow leader.

If he lost, he'd just get beaten up for nothing. But if he won, it might catch the attention of Hiruzen Sarutobi or even the 5.5th Hokage-to-be.

There was no benefit in doing this, so Haneda didn't want any part of it.

Of course, if he were stronger, he'd smack Asuma around right then and there.

If you can't speak properly, then shut up. Outside the village, you'd be worth 35 million ryo—who's going to pamper you then?

"Are you really an Uchiha? Scared of a little sparring?" Asuma continued to provoke, clearly looking down on Haneda's choice to surrender.

But Haneda was determined not to engage with Asuma. Being an Uchiha, getting involved with the Hokage's son wasn't a good political move.

If they got along, the Uchiha would be on his back. If they didn't, the Hokage's faction would be on his back.

Besides, Asuma was just a rebellious kid.

"Haneda, are you sure you don't want to fight?" The teacher asked, his tone not pleased.

"Sorry, Sensei. I caught a cold last night and don't feel well today."

Haneda apologized, although his perfectly healthy appearance made the teacher's eye twitch in disbelief.

The teachers at the ninja academy were like college professors—if you gave them a reasonable excuse, even if it was nonsense, they'd usually accept it.

Soon enough, the teacher waved the flag and announced the result.

"Winner: Sarutobi Asuma."

...

"Wow, Haneda! Forfeiting just like that—you've really brought shame to the Uchiha!"

As soon as Haneda stepped off the field, Obito immediately started mocking him.

"At least I didn't get beaten up, unlike a certain dead last," Haneda replied calmly.

Obito, flustered, quickly retorted:

"Damn it, Haneda! That was a sneak attack! I wasn't ready!"

"If Might Guy weren't so underhanded, there's no way I'd have lost!!"

Rather than blame himself, Obito redirected the blame to Guy—something Haneda wasn't surprised by at all.

After all, Obito wasn't about to admit that he'd been distracted by his crush, right?

Back on the field, Asuma stood with a blade of grass in his mouth, looking bored.

Not getting to fight Haneda had left him frustrated.

Asuma glanced over at Kurenai, only to see that, like Rin, she was standing near Kakashi, looking at him with admiration.

'Damn it!'

'My crush likes another guy!'

Asuma felt as though grass had started sprouting on his head—a sure sign of being "green" with jealousy!

Fueled by anger, he suddenly said to the teacher:

"Sensei! I want to challenge Kakashi!"
