Root Base.

In a spacious, dimly lit chamber.

Kiyoshi, carrying Ranmaru's corpse, entered.

"The God Tree, capable of absorbing planetary energy, giving birth to the Chakra Fruit."

After collecting a few blood samples from the body and sealing them away, he looked intently at Ranmaru's remains, eyes glinting with a cold gleam. 

"If I remember correctly, the Otsutsuki Clan had a way to directly convert their own kin into chakra elixirs, perfectly inheriting their abilities."

At the moment he saw Ranmaru's body, Kiyoshi suddenly had a bold idea.

As someone who had essentially become like the God Tree himself, he could effortlessly acquire others' Kekkei Genkai and unique abilities. 

But what if, like the God Tree, he could directly consume the corpses and chakra of these Kekkei Genkai holders to produce fruits that would pass down these Kekkei Genkais and abilities?

Of course, he didn't need this type of fruit to possess the miraculous powers of a true Chakra Fruit, granting immortality or anything like that.

As long as it allowed the person who consumed the fruit to inherit Kekkei Genkais and special abilities, traits that were typically only passed down through generations, that would suffice.

You could call it a "low-grade" version of the Chakra Fruit, or perhaps….an artificial Devil Fruit?

"If this works, wouldn't I essentially become a 'Devil Fruit Tree'?" Kiyoshi murmured; his gaze fixed on the corpse before him with fierce determination.

"Let's test it out on you, then."

In his palm, he conjured a seed radiating an unusual chakra pulse, placing it within Ranmaru's body.

Clapping his hands together forcefully, he intoned, "Bloom... Demon Tree."

A tender green shoot emerged from Ranmaru's corpse, quickly transforming into a half-foot tall green sapling rooted within his body. 

It began absorbing the nutrients from the body, visibly growing at a rapid pace.

Roots spread throughout Ranmaru's limbs, drawing every last bit of chakra and essence from his corpse.

Eventually, it transformed into a fruit tree as tall as a person.

A brilliantly vibrant, unusual flower bloomed on it, producing a fruit that resembled an apple, a vivid crimson in color. 

Strange spiral patterns covered its surface.

As the flower withered and the fruit matured, the entire tree radiated a soft glow, transferring all of its remaining "nutrients" into the fruit.

It seemed to have fulfilled its mission.

The tree quickly withered, decayed, and, along with Ranmaru's body, dissolved into ash, leaving behind only the apple-like, red fruit adorned with strange patterns.

It seemed to emit an alluring power, tempting anyone who saw it to take a bite.

Perhaps due to the effects of the Wood-Wood Fruit, the fruit created by the Demon Tree indeed bore a slight resemblance to a Devil Fruit.

"An artificial Devil Fruit?" Kiyoshi weighed the crimson fruit in his hand, his gaze sharp. 

"If Kurenai gained the powers of the Red Eye Clan, she would likely reach an entirely new level."

The Red Eye.

This type of Dojutsu-based Kekkei Genkai could be considered the natural enemy of the Byakugan. 

It not only allowed the user to see through objects but could also sense power and detect danger.

Additionally, it could utilize chakra to create illusions that disrupted the Byakugan's perception. 

If paired with Genjutsu, it might even be challenging for the Sharingan to see through.

Furthermore, it was said to have even stronger abilities than the Byakugan in terms of chakra perception.

Kiyoshi speculated that, like the Sharingan of the Uchiha Clan, the Byakugan of the Hyuga Clan, and the Shikotsumyaku of the Kaguya Clan, the Red Eye was probably another branch of the Otsutsuki lineage.

It was likely a distant cousin of the Hyuga or Uchiha.

Otherwise, it was hard to imagine how anyone could create such an Dojutsu ability and embed it in their genes for it to be passed down through the generations.

If Kurenai could acquire this Kekkei Genkai, her strength would skyrocket.

With greater chakra insight than the Byakugan and her solid proficiency in Genjutsu, even typical Sharingan Genjutsu would be ineffective against her.

Kiyoshi couldn't help but recall a quip from 21st-century netizens.

He chuckled, "Maybe she won't even need the Sharingan."

Fixing his gaze on the apple-like artificial Devil Fruit, he speculated that if his theory held, the consumer's genes would undergo a complete transformation. 

The amount of chakra they could generate would likely increase as well.

"But before that, I need to test the effects thoroughly and verify the risks."

With that in mind, Kiyoshi's expression grew serious.

He wouldn't risk giving it to Kurenai unless he could guarantee its safety.

Using some half-baked method like Danzo's was unacceptable.

Generally, acquiring someone else's Kekkei Genkai—whether by forbidden techniques or other means—came with significant risks.

After all, it meant that one's own genetic structure would undergo a substantial transformation.

The question remained as to how much this Demon Tree method, consuming the Kekkei Genkai bearer's body to produce a fruit, could mitigate those risks.

A corpse appeared as Kiyoshi extracted it from his storage scroll.

It was one of the bodies of Storm Release ninja collected by the Root.

Judging by the headband and clothing, the corpse likely belonged to a shinobi from the Cloud Village.

With a few Storm Release corpses at hand, he wasn't worried about wasting them.

"Demon Tree!"

Using the same technique, Kiyoshi planted his Demon Tree within the Cloud Village ninja's body.

He watched as the tree rooted itself within the limbs of the Storm Release ninja's body, visibly growing, flowering, and bearing fruit.

As the entire Demon Tree withered and decayed, it too turned to ash along with the corpse.

A blue fruit, shaped somewhat like a pineapple but with lightning-bolt patterns, fell into Kiyoshi's hand.

Weighing the fruit in his hand, Kiyoshi exited the chamber. "Come here."

"Yes, sir."

A Root member stationed outside immediately appeared, kneeling on one knee before Kiyoshi.

"Eat it." 

In the astonished gaze of Tatsuma, who had just arrived, Kiyoshi tossed the blue, exotic fruit to the masked Root member, instructing him to eat it.

"Yes, sir."

Without a moment of hesitation, the Root member accepted the blue fruit, removed his mask, and took a large bite.

"Ugh—"

Seeing the Root member's face twist in disgust as he fought to hold back his nausea, Kiyoshi's lip twitched. 

"So, it even tastes like a real Devil Fruit?"

However—

Despite the taste, the Root member forced himself to swallow the entire fruit.

"Any changes in your body?" Kiyoshi asked.

"Zzzzt... crackle…."

Intense arcs of electricity began to surge from the Root member.

"This is..." Tatsuma was dumbfounded.

If he remembered correctly, this Root member didn't have a lightning affinity, nor had he trained in the nature transformation to master the lightning element.

But after consuming the fruit, such a transformation had indeed occurred.

What exactly was this strange fruit?

"Whoosh—"

Kiyoshi's spirit detached from his body and took control of the Root member's body.

He raised his right hand, and dazzling lightning burst from his palm. 

"Chidori!"

"Zzzzt... crackle…."

Countless electric sparks flashed intensely.

Arcs of lightning interwove, crackling and leaping in a way that could make anyone's skin crawl.

A tangible lightning blade formed in the Root member's hand.

Kiyoshi, controlling the member's body, aimed at the nearby, visibly alarmed Tatsuma. 

"Zzzzt..."

A brilliant bolt of lightning shot out like a spear.

In an instant, it curved midair, bypassing Tatsuma, and pierced directly into the wall behind him.

It effortlessly penetrated the thick wall.

"Lord Kiyoshi."

Taking a deep breath, Tatsuma, nearly convinced he was about to die, was drenched in cold sweat.

He stared wide-eyed in disbelief at the streaking arcs of lightning that had narrowly missed him. 

"This is... Storm Release?"
