Naruto: Wood-Wood Fruit

Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Ultimate Vision

"I've heard that the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, aside from inheriting the eye techniques of the original Mangekyo and its replacement, can also develop new powers…"

"Main body, have your eyes developed any new techniques?"

"Not as of yet…"

In his red eyes, the intricate patterns slowly rotated.

As Kiyoshi attuned himself to his Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, he furrowed his brow slightly.

"Perhaps it's still maturing, not fully developed yet."

"Or maybe… only by pushing my visual prowess to the absolute limit can I awaken a completely new eye technique."

He speculated to himself.

In the original anime, Kiyoshi recalled, Sasuke quickly exhausted his Mangekyo Sharingan not long after awakening it.

Impatiently, he transplanted Itachi's eyes and gained the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan.

However, during the Fourth Great Ninja War, he barely had time to fully adapt and hone his visual prowess before receiving the Sage of Six Paths' gift, unlocking the Six-Tomoe Rinnegan.

Most likely, due to insufficient training and a quick leap in power, he had skipped stages, snuffing out the potential techniques his Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan might have otherwise unlocked.

After all, Kiyoshi had never seen Sasuke use any additional eye techniques.

Aside from the standard abilities of the Rinnegan and the space-time jutsu Amenotejikara, Sasuke's battle moves were mostly his original Mangekyo powers.

That is, the so-called eternal flames of Amaterasu and his ability to control flames, Kagutsuchi.

Of course, this was merely Kiyoshi's theory.

It may not be correct.

"But regardless, just Fugaku's Mangekyo ability alone was a pleasant surprise."

Kiyoshi allowed a small smile.

"Oh?" The wood clone looked intrigued.

He knew exactly how discerning his main body's taste was.

Ordinary eye techniques wouldn't even catch his attention.

For Kiyoshi to be impressed, Fugaku's concealed Mangekyo ability had to be extraordinary.

"Before his death, Shisui had a plan to use Kotoamatsukami on Fugaku to prevent the Uchiha coup, but Danzo, who had long coveted Shisui's Mangekyo Sharingan, ruined the plan. Disheartened, Shisui ultimately took his own life…"

Kiyoshi chuckled quietly.

With a smirk of slight mockery, he remarked, "But Shisui didn't know—even if he had used Kotoamatsukami on Fugaku, it wouldn't have affected Fugaku's will."

Fugaku's eye technique had truly astonished Kiyoshi.

With this hidden ace, Kiyoshi could now face Danzo and Itachi without fear.

"Wait, isn't Kotoamatsukami supposed to be the most powerful Genjutsu, able to infiltrate another's mind undetected and permanently alter their will?"

The wood clone, puzzled, showed a trace of disbelief. "Even if Fugaku's Genjutsu is strong, it shouldn't surpass Shisui's Kotoamatsukami, right?"

"You're right. Apart from the Infinite Tsukuyomi used by the Ten-Tails Jinchuriki, Kotoamatsukami is indeed considered the highest level of Genjutsu."

Kiyoshi acknowledged the potency of Kotoamatsukami. "Honestly, without Fugaku's ability, even with my Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, I couldn't guarantee if I'd be able to resist Kotoamatsukami fully."

"But Ukanomitamais different. His left eye's ability is known as Ukanomitama."

"Ukanomitama?"

The wood clone raised an eyebrow.

"It can directly repel any Genjutsu that poses a threat to him."

Kiyoshi explained bluntly. "The most remarkable feature is that, regardless of whether the user is prepared or not, if anyone targets him with Genjutsu, Ukanomitama activates automatically, nullifying it."

"Though I haven't had the chance to verify it yet, I'm confident that Kotoamatsukami would be ineffective."

As for Genjutsu on the level of the Infinite Tsukuyomi.

Whether it could nullify something of that scale was still unknown.

At the very least, Kiyoshi wasn't confident in that.

And he certainly didn't plan to test it anytime soon.

"Tsk tsk, a technique that can directly repel Genjutsu…unbelievable."

The wood clone marveled.

Who could've imagined that Fugaku's eye ability would be so unique?

He asked, intrigued, "So, what about his right eye?"

"The right eye's ability is Tsukuyomi."

Kiyoshi shrugged, explaining, "Though Tsukuyomi can't forcibly alter another's will like Kotoamatsukami, it's still an incredibly difficult Genjutsu to counter."

Tsukuyomi is a technique that directly drags the target's mind into a Genjutsu realm completely under the caster's control.

Within the Tsukuyomi world, factors such as time, location, and even the quality of sensations are dictated by the user, subjecting the enemy to intense mental and physical suffering.

One could say that true to the lineage, Fugaku and his son Itachi's Mangekyo Sharingan abilities bore certain resemblances.

Itachi and Fugaku's Mangekyo Sharingan techniques both included Tsukuyomi.

Meanwhile, both Sasuke and Itachi's Mangekyo techniques included Amaterasu.

"With the strength of my visual prowess as it is now, even if I were to use Tsukuyomi, breaking free would be almost impossible for someone with an ordinary Mangekyo Sharingan."

"If used skillfully, it could allow me to control my targets completely."
