Chapter 63: Chapter 63: Fallen Power
Extra Chapter~
"Cough… cough… Kiyoshi, you've won…"
Danzo was in a daze.
Weak and exhausted, he realized he was bound tightly by vines.
Unable to move, with barely any chakra left in his body, he found it impossible to muster any strength.
Yet, after enduring three days and nights of torture and humiliation in the world of Tsukuyomi, his spirit was gravely wounded.
Now, he could no longer distinguish between reality and illusion.
"Kill me, Ishikawa Kiyoshi!"
Looking at the youth before him, whose terrifying strength far surpassed his age, Danzo's gaze held a hint of resentment and frustration, but mostly a feeling of defeat…
The whole of him seemed devoid of life and spirit, filled with dejection, a man fading into decline. He sneered at himself, saying.
"You must be quite pleased with yourself, having successfully humiliated me."
"No, not quite…"
Seeing Danzo so broken and utterly beaten, Kiyoshi looked down indifferently. "Killing you would be far too easy."
"Aren't you fond of using Kotoamatsukami to control others?"
A mocking smile curled up at the corner of his mouth. "Then I'll show you what it truly means to be trapped by your own web."
Danzo had just used Kotoamatsukami, but the power left in Shisui's eye was insufficient.
But that didn't matter to Kiyoshi.
He had no shortage of eye power.
Now that he had obtained the ability of Kotoamatsukami, the remaining power in Shisui's eye was merely the cherry on top.
"No, you damned brat—"
Hearing these words,
Danzo's weak gaze shrank instantly.
Anger and despair surged in his eyes, along with a flicker of defiance as he struggled.
Being controlled by a mere child was worse than death for Danzo.
In Kiyoshi's red right eye, the complex Mangekyo Sharingan pattern began spinning rapidly.
"Now, you'll experience firsthand the power of Kotoamatsukami, the ultimate Genjutsu!"
There was a terrifying surge of power.
In an instant, it forcefully invaded Danzo's mind, permanently and completely altering his will.
Kotoamatsukami — You will be eternally loyal to Ishikawa Kiyoshi.
"Lord Kiyoshi."
In a flash, the unyielding and desperate Danzo, struggling with every fiber of his being, had his ferocious expression soften.
He stopped struggling.
But, with his spirit severely wounded, he couldn't hold on and fell unconscious.
Thud…
The vines retracted, loosening their grip on him.
Danzo's bloodied body slumped powerlessly to the ground.
"Passed out, has he?"
Kiyoshi was unsurprised.
With precision, he gouged out one Sharingan from Danzo's bloodied right arm.
Skillfully, he inserted it into Danzo's bleeding eye socket.
A soft green light radiated from his palm, healing the eye as he worked.
This was to prevent the other members of Root from noticing that Danzo had lost Shisui's eye, which would lead them to suspect that Danzo had been controlled by Kiyoshi.
After all, now that he possessed the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, only by seizing other Mangekyo-level eyes could he truly amplify his power.
Ordinary three-tomoe Sharingan held little value to him.
"Hmm?"
Seeing the battle concluded, Tsunade approached.
Surprised, she noticed Kiyoshi was healing Danzo. "Not only are you not killing him, you're actually treating him?"
Though she hadn't spent much time with Kiyoshi, she had gradually come to understand his nature.
This boy, who relentlessly trained even if it meant pushing himself to the limit, was not the soft-hearted type.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have broken into the Uchiha clan that night and harvested eyes from the corpses of their fallen clan members.
"Killing him would be easy and merciful."
Deactivating his Mangekyo Sharingan, Kiyoshi shrugged.
"Besides, if you're not yet prepared to confront Konoha's leadership, dealing with him prematurely would leave a bit of a mess. Let him serve our purposes for now."
The main reason he chose not to kill Danzo was, in truth, not because he feared any complications or cared if the Third Hokage and others held him accountable.
It was simply the uncertainty of whether someone might use the forbidden Reanimation Jutsu, developed by the Second Hokage, to summon him back.
Even if he could destroy the body completely, there was always the chance Danzo had left behind some other tissue samples at the Root base or with Orochimaru.
A venomous snake lurking in the dark, waiting for a chance to strike, might not scare him, but it would indeed be an annoyance.
Controlling him this way provided a once-and-for-all solution.
It would also allow him to control Root as his own tool, a blade that could strike at Konoha's highest powers.
Moreover, by keeping Danzo in hand, the village's collection of forbidden jutsu, secret techniques, the Second Hokage's research notes and experience with forbidden techniques, even the hidden arts of other clans within the village, would essentially be within his grasp.
It would save him a lot of time and effort.
Once he'd exhausted Danzo's usefulness and took over Root, the decision of whether to let him live or die would be his alone.
"Are you sure this will work?" Tsunade asked, slightly concerned.
"No need to worry about that. Through Shisui's eyes, I've gained the ability of Kotoamatsukami."
After finishing Danzo's eye transplant, Kiyoshi withdrew his hand, exuding confidence.
"With my current level of Mangekyo power, breaking free from my control would require only one thing — his own death!"
If his memory was correct, Kotoamatsukami could even influence the dead.
In theory, it could act upon the soul or consciousness, meaning death wouldn't break its hold.
Though he wasn't sure if it would still be effective should Danzo be revived through Edo Tensei, he had no intention of testing that out.
Of course, Itachi's left eye, which contained Shisui's other eye, might have the ability to undo this control.
But without the cells of the First Hokage, Itachi could only use Kotoamatsukami once, and that was reserved to ensure his younger brother Sasuke stayed on the path he'd prepared.
It was evident he wouldn't waste it on freeing Danzo.
"That's for the best."
Tsunade nodded.
Her heart was fully set on grooming Kiyoshi to become Hokage.
With Danzo's Root organization at his disposal, gaining control over Konoha would be far easier for Kiyoshi.
After all, politics was complicated, and brute force alone wasn't always the solution.
A coup to seize power, assassinating rivals to gain control, should be avoided if possible.
Opening such a path of violence would create future difficulties.
And she didn't want Kiyoshi to become a cold-hearted, power-obsessed politician like the current leadership of Konoha.
"Heh…"
Hearing Tsunade's words, Kiyoshi smiled without comment.
He had no ambition to become Hokage.
His interest was in becoming the man beside the Fifth Hokage.
Of course, being the man beside the Fifth Mizukage was also a tempting option.
"Tsunade-sensei, Root members are approaching; I'll leave the rest to you!"
He had already sensed several familiar chakra signatures quickly approaching.
As he anticipated, they were likely members of Root.
Over the years spent in Konoha, he'd encountered these same signatures following Danzo multiple times.
So, he recognized them quite well.
