Chapter 227: Chapter 27: Don't Call Me Second Grandpa
Landing softly, the cat-like figure slinked around the edge of the battlefield, casting a sheepish grin at the towering Gundam-like figure in the center. With a hunch of her shoulders, she stealthily crept along, carefully avoiding the chaos.
Spending too much time with Rinjin had its consequences. She hadn't picked up any of his good habits, but she'd certainly mastered the art of cowardice.
Locking eyes with the enemy, it was clear—this was someone she couldn't possibly defeat.
"Troublesome opponents should just be left to that scheming bastard Rinjin to deal with! Heh~" she thought to herself, grinning slyly.
Watching her sneaky antics, Rinjin facepalmed in exasperation.
This girl was beyond saving. Wherever she showed up, the tone of the battlefield would inevitably spiral into something... indescribable.
To illustrate:
Orochimaru leads his Sound ninja to attack Konoha, engaging in a spectacular battle against the Third Hokage. The ninjutsu is dazzling, and the fight is intense.
And then there's her—perched on the sidelines, peeking out from behind a pillar with a holy scripture in hand, watching the chaos unfold.*
...
Pain destroys Konoha. Naruto makes his grand entrance, shattering the Asura Path with a single punch.
And there she is, squatting amidst the ruins, animatedly spectating the carnage.*
...
Might Guy battles Madara in his Six Paths form. Madara declares, "You are the strongest!" The scene is utterly electrifying.
And then there's her—tongue sticking out, half her face peeking out from behind a rock, observing in secret.*
...
This cat... something was definitely wrong with her vibe.
From now on, during battles, it was best to just hide her somewhere. Otherwise, even opening the Eight Gates would feel embarrassing.
Below, her passing presence had no impact on the ongoing fight.
The Rain ninja weren't focused on the tailed beast for now, and as for Madara Uchiha, he barely paid attention to the "small fry" from Kirigakure. His only concern was Rinjin's potential ambush.
Years of war had honed his instincts, and they rarely betrayed him. That earlier strike hadn't dealt much damage to this guy. He was likely lurking in some shadowy corner, watching him.
With that in mind, Madara decided to conserve his chakra and dismissed the Perfect Susanoo form.
While he could battle Hashirama for days on end, there was no need to waste chakra on these insignificant opponents. The Susanoo quickly receded, leaving only its incomplete half-body form.
Madara clapped his hands together, his chest puffing out.
"Fire Release: Majestic Destroyer Flame!"
In an instant, roaring flames surged forth, hurtling toward the Kirigakure ninja.
On the other side, the Kirigakure ninjas swiftly formed hand seals.
"Water Release: Water Formation Wall!"
"Water Release: Wild Water Wave!"
"Water Release: Water Pillar Technique!"
A torrent of water-based jutsu erupted to counter the Majestic Destroyer Flame. Yet even so, they struggled to suppress the overwhelming power of this sixty-year-old legend.
The battlefield echoed with roars, the sound of rushing water, and the sharp hiss of steam rising into the air.
Behind a tree trunk, Tobirama Senju knelt on one knee, his right hand's index and middle fingers pressed to the ground, his eyes closed in concentration.
If anyone on this battlefield had the strongest sensory abilities, it wasn't Black Zetsu, nor was it Rinjin in Sage Mode. It was Tobirama Senju.
His sensory prowess was practically monstrous. Without forming hand seals, he could pinpoint movements with unparalleled precision across a range of up to a thousand miles.
Just as the flames from Madara's mouth threatened to overwhelm the Kirigakure forces, Tobirama's eyes snapped open.
"Now!"
With a low growl, his hands moved in a blur, forming seals.
"Water Release: Severing Wave!"
In the next instant, a high-pressure stream of water shot from his mouth, slicing through the tree trunk in front of him and cutting straight toward Madara.
At that moment, Madara, still mid-firebreath, furrowed his brows. One of the four arms of his Susanoo instantly moved to shield his back, blocking the razor-sharp water jet.
Madara's expression darkened as he turned to glance behind him, his face twitching in irritation.
"Annoying."
The words barely left his mouth when Tobirama rose to his feet, a cold smirk playing on his lips. His gaze locked onto Madara, fearless and unwavering.
They were both warriors forged in the fires of the Warring States Era. Neither would back down.
Wasting no time, Tobirama's hands flew through another set of seals.
"Water Release: Exploding Water Colliding Wave!"
In the blink of an eye, a massive surge of water erupted from his mouth, transforming the battlefield into a vast, churning river. The water level rose visibly by the second.
Up above, Rinjin watched Tobirama's serious demeanor, his lips twitching slightly.
"Is this water release? No, this is clearly ocean release! What the hell?"
Glancing at his own chakra reserves, which were barely at the level of a chunin, and then at these overpowered monsters...
One was piloting a Gundam, another was summoning a giant Buddha, yet another was unleashing ocean release, and there were thousands of Shadow Clones to boot.
How was this fair?
It wasn't fair at all.
"I'm supposed to be the overpowered one here, damn it!"
With that thought, Rinjin, who had been preparing to join the fray, pouted in dissatisfaction and stopped in his tracks.
"Forget it. Let these two cheaters duke it out first."
Below, Madara's face twisted in rare frustration. He was already furious after being toyed with by Rinjin's Flying Thunder God Slash earlier.
Now, with Tobirama stepping in, his anger only grew.
"Damn it!"
He locked eyes with Tobirama, his intent clear—this was someone he had to eliminate.
Without hesitation, he formed hand seals.
"Fire Release: Fire Flame Song!"
Four fiery dragon heads burst forth, roaring as they raced toward Tobirama.
At the same time, Madara charged forward, his Susanoo expanding its four arms, each gripping a chakra blade.
It was clear—when old enemies met, emotions ran high.
Facing the incoming flames and Madara's charge, Tobirama's expression remained unchanged.
Afraid?
"Hah! Me, afraid of this old man?"
Though he couldn't win, his spirit wouldn't falter. If nothing else, he was stubborn.
Most importantly, this was his home turf!
Waves surged, and the battlefield transformed into a vast water domain.
"Water Release: Wave Riding Strike!"
As the words left his mouth, Tobirama's figure vanished. In the next second, torrents of water shot up from beneath Madara, coiling toward him.
Madara's eyes flickered, a smirk of disdain curling his lips.
"Pathetic. Blame yourself for not having the Rinnegan."
"Shinra Tensei!"
A powerful repulsive force exploded outward, centered on Madara.
Truly, this man was the ultimate cheat code. Sharingan techniques, Rinnegan techniques—he used them all as he pleased.
The repulsive force scattered the encroaching water streams, leaving only droplets behind.
Amidst the water, Tobirama's brows furrowed.
He had plenty of large-scale destructive jutsu, but against the armored fortress that was the Susanoo, they all fell short.
Just then, the Flying Thunder God seal on Tobirama's shoulder glowed faintly, signaling a familiar spatial fluctuation.
In the next moment, a flash of blue appeared beside him.
"Second Grandpa... glub glub... I'm here to help! Glub glub glub..." came the garbled, waterlogged voice.
Before Tobirama could react, the water around him erupted as Rinjin shot forward like an arrow loosed from a bow.
Above the water's surface, a blinding white light exploded, accompanied by a blood-pumping roar.
"LIU DE HA!"
The Susanoo was sent flying by the ferocious white tiger, leaving Tobirama clutching his forehead in exasperation.
"Don't... call me Second Grandpa, you little bastard!"
