Chapter 59: Chidorriiii.
Guy vs. Sanata.
Most of the audience didn't know much about Guy—only a few people actually understood his strength. Many assumed that Guy only got Tsunade as a teacher because he was my friend.
But they were dead wrong.
Only I, Kakashi, Minato, and his father Might Duy knew what Guy was truly capable of. Not even Tsunade fully understood. But after this match, that would change. I knew that after this tournament, Guy's name would rise just like mine and Kakashi's.
Meanwhile, over in the audience, I noticed Inoichi Yamanaka sitting with Choza and Shikaku. He was confidently bragging about Sanata, saying he would win easily.
I smirked to myself.
When both participants arrived at the stage, Guy gave a polite "Good luck." Sanata just nodded. He had seen Guy fight in the battle royale, but still underestimated him. He figured that since Guy only used taijutsu, he could win by keeping his distance—throwing shuriken and finishing it with a Mind Body Switch technique.
The instructor gave the signal. "Begin!"
The moment the word left his mouth, Guy moved.
He opened the **First Gate**. A vibrant green aura surged around his body.
Sanata hesitated, but stuck to his plan. He began retreating while launching a volley of shuriken toward Guy. But Guy... he just vanished.
In a blink, he appeared right in front of Sanata.
Panicked, Sanata tried to stab him with a kunai, but Guy easily dodged and delivered a clean punch. Sanata flew across the battlefield, slamming into the wall of the tower with a loud crash. He collapsed.
Silence.
The entire crowd fell completely silent. Many had no idea what just happened. But the seasoned jonin and clan heads recognized it.
**Eight Inner Gates.**
They looked uncomfortable. The Eight Gates technique was rarely used—too risky, too limited. Most considered it ineffective past the genin stage, especially in high-level battles where ninjutsu dominated.
But only I knew the truth.
One day, Guy would fight **Madara Uchiha**—and Madara would call him the **strongest taijutsu user** he'd ever faced.
Right now, though, most people felt pity for Guy, thinking he'd chosen a dead-end path.
The instructor walked to the center and raised his hand. "**Winner: Might Guy!**"
Shikaku and Choza turned to smirk at Inoichi.
Inoichi looked embarrassed and muttered, "Well… that didn't go as planned."
Choza grinned. "Nobody from the Akimichi clan made it this far, remember."
Shikaku added dryly, "Looks like my clan member will do better than yours."
Choza's laughter stopped. Inoichi just huffed and crossed his arms.
Medics came in and carried Sanata away. Meanwhile, Guy returned to the seating area. Both Kakashi and I congratulated him.
Guy grinned. "Don't worry, I won't lose until I fight one of you."
Below, the instructor called the next match.
**Kakashi vs. Tokuma.**
Both participants arrived at the stage and exchanged simple nods. Tokuma had seen Kakashi fight before during the exams. He immediately activated his **Byakugan**.
Kakashi responded by creating several **shadow clones**. Each clone began firing lightning projectiles—**Lightning Release: Lightning Barrage**—toward Tokuma.
Tokuma dodged most of them with his enhanced vision, but a few connected, sending electric shocks through his body. His movements slowed, paralyzed momentarily. Kakashi took the chance to close in.
Tokuma launched into a **Gentle Fist** counterattack, but suddenly three shadow clones surrounded him. He quickly used **Palm Rotation** to deflect the attack, dispersing the clones.
When the smoke cleared, Kakashi was nowhere to be seen.
Tokuma spun around—too late.
Kakashi burst from the ground behind him and attacked with **Earth Spears**, one of which grazed Tokuma's shoulder. The injury was light, but it slowed him further.
Then came the final move—Kakashi's hands were crackling with lightning.
He rushed forward, lightning cloaking his arm like a blade.
**Chidori.**
Just before the strike landed, Kakashi stopped—his hand inches from Tokuma's abdomen.
Tokuma felt the sharp edge of defeat. Cold sweat trickled down his back.
The instructor raised his hand. "**Kakashi Hatake is the winner!**"
Minato stood from his seat, beaming with pride. Kakashi had finally done it. He'd been trying to perfect that technique for a long time—and now he had.
The audience erupted in applause. Some praised him for inventing a new jutsu, others already whispered that he might be the tournament's winner.
On the Hyuga side, however, the mood was different.
Hiashi Hyuga looked disappointed. Tokuma, a main-branch member, had lost. When Tokuma returned, Hiashi didn't even acknowledge him.
Back on the balcony, Guy practically jumped on Kakashi. "What was that jutsu?!"
Kakashi gave a small smirk. "**Chidori.** A jutsu I created myself. It's not fully complete yet."
Guy stared at him, wondering how powerful it would be when finished.
Then Kakashi turned to me. "Thanks, Ren."
I smiled. "You didn't really need my help."
In the original timeline, Kakashi took four more years to fully develop Chidori. But with a little nudge from me—some advice based on what I already knew—he figured it out much earlier. He was already close. He just needed the right push.
Kakashi glanced at both me and Guy. "Well, I'm winning this tournament now."
Guy crossed his arms. "I didn't even go all out yet."
I just smiled. "Are you guys *sure* you can defeat me?"
We all laughed lightly—but the air was thick with competition.
And then, the final match began.
**Izuna Uchiha vs. Ensui Nara.**
A classic—**Uchiha vs. Nara**.
As Ensui appeared, Inoichi turned smugly toward Shikaku. "Let's see what *your* clan member can do."
Shikaku replied with a small smirk. "Let's see."
Fugaku Uchiha was silently watching from the sidelines. He'd watched all the matches—especially mine—and was impressed with both Guy and Kakashi. He didn't speak much, but I knew he was deeply loyal to Konoha.
I had plans involving the Uchiha and Danzo—plans I would set in motion when the time was right. For now, Fugaku simply observed, calm and composed.
As Izuna stepped into the ring, Fugaku's eyes narrowed with attention.
Izuna and Ensui had clashed before: in the forest, then as allies to reach the tower, and again during the battle royale.
Now it all came down to this.
One winner.
One loser.
