Chapter 31 - The Last Words of the Canine Immortals

Chapter 31: The Last Words of the Canine Immortals

Beast King Mountain, the Canine Clan.

Ruofeng’s gaze narrowed slightly, a flicker of fortune appearing in his eyes. Not bad—just fortunate. The Canine Clan was the perfect choice, an ideal one to cultivate. He knew that as long as the refuse station remained, sooner or later, the discarded remnants of the Immortal World would appear. These remnants, saturated with aura, could be used to cultivate powerful psychic beasts. Not to mention, some Immortal Worlds contained clans that specialized in nurturing such creatures.

If he could obtain the discarded materials from these immortal beast clans, Ruofeng could cultivate the most formidable psychic beasts—or at the very least, the strongest in the Naruto world. As for the Canine Clan before him, he found them particularly favorable. After all, he was a dog lover, and having a Tibetan Mastiff by his side would certainly be interesting.

The Canine Clan was loyal by nature. Once Ruofeng unsealed their intelligence and cultivated them, betrayal would not be an issue.

It was evident that the Canine Clan before him was the best choice for a psychic beast contract.

Ruofeng’s eyes narrowed as he gazed at the Canine Immortal and slowly said, “Please rest assured. I will take care of the Canine Clan and will not let them fall.”

“Cough…” The Inu Immortal coughed lightly, his aged eyes meeting Ruofeng’s. “Hehe… It seems I did not choose wrong. Humans and canines have always been friends. Nowadays, humans even raise canines as companions, and some ninjas incorporate them into their jutsu.” He paused, his breath unsteady. “Ahem… I hope that the Beast King Mountain Canine Clan will continue to endure.”

His words carried a faint sigh of lament.

Ruofeng understood—these were the Canine Immortal’s last words, both an account of the afterlife and a reflection on his life.

The Canine Immortal’s gaze shimmered slightly. “Do you know? The founding of the Canine Clan was entirely thanks to Asura and Indra. Especially Asura—he gave me the method to cultivate Immortals and even gifted me a Divine Tree Fragment. Through Asura’s aid, I was able to produce offspring and establish what is now the Canine Clan. But… my master is, and always will be, Indra. He was the first one I saw when I opened my eyes.”

His aged voice trembled slightly. “Thus, I have never betrayed him. Even if Asura aided me more, my master remains Indra. Now, I am ready to depart and reunite with him. I hope that you will take good care of the Inuyasha Clan. When these children’s wisdom is unsealed, the first person they lay eyes upon will be their lifelong master. Even if their master chooses to kill them, they will never betray. This… is the Canine Clan, the Loyal Ones.”

Ruofeng felt a wave of emotion rises within him, leaving him momentarily speechless.

Before he could respond, the Canine Immortal’s form began to dissipate, vanishing between heaven and earth.

“You… You…” Ruofeng’s voice faltered.

He had to admit—he was in awe of the Canine Immortal’s unwavering loyalty. The Canine Clan was truly a loyal lineage.

At that moment, Ruofeng even considered returning to his chamber to retrieve the Kirin Exhaustion, wondering if he could still save the Canine Immortal.

The Canine Immortal, however, smiled. “Ruofeng… death is a relief for me. If not for these children, I would have long departed to reunite with Master Indra.”

Ruofeng nodded silently, uncertain of what to say.

The Canine Immortal’s aged features softened into a gentle smile before his form fully faded.

Within the great hall, the Tibetan Mastiffs and sled dogs gazed mournfully, their eyes glistening with unshed tears. They could sense the departure of their ancestor.

“Tinker Bell…”

The Canine Immortal vanished, leaving behind his walking stick, which clattered to the ground. Alongside it, a small bell appeared.

Ruofeng recognized it immediately—this was the bell Indra had once placed on the Canine Immortal, the bell the old dog had carried for a thousand years, never willing to part with it.

Ruofeng slowly picked up the bell and murmured, “When I see Indra in the future, I will tell him about you. I will tell him that he still has a loyal companion watching over him.”

He carefully put the bell away, treating it as a cherished keepsake.

His gaze then fell upon the Tibetan Mastiffs before him. Through their contract, he conveyed reassurance.

Ruofeng gently stroked their fur and said, “Take me to your tribe. I want to see your pack.”

The Tibetan Mastiffs sniffled before turning to lead the way.

Though their intelligence had been sealed, their instincts remained sharp.

Before long, Ruofeng stood before the entire Canine Clan.

The tribe consisted of more than 10,000 dogs—of all breeds.

Tibetan Mastiffs, bulldogs, Akitas, sled dogs, bully breeds…

In short, every type of dog known to Earth had appeared within this clan.

The psychic beast clans rarely reproduced in great numbers. Compared to the Mount Myoboku Toad Clan, which barely numbered a thousand, the Canine Clan was an anomaly. Normally, their ability to reproduce was severely limited—just as Gamabunta had only one heir, Gamakichi.

Though Ryuchi Cave had a large number of snakes, only a thousand among them possessed intelligence and could perform jutsu. The rest were mere oversized pythons, lacking even basic reasoning skills—mere summons to be thrown into battle and sacrificed.

The Canine Clan before him, however, had their intelligence sealed, which had resulted in rapid reproduction. Among nearly 10,000 canines, at least 90% had the potential to awaken intelligence and cultivate into full-fledged ninja dogs.

Ruofeng’s eyes narrowed slightly. “They are numerous and diverse, and with proper cultivation, they could become the strongest psychic beast faction in the Naruto world. But… that is a matter for the future. Right now, the biggest challenge is breaking the seal.”

He muttered under his breath before noticing the Tibetan Mastiff tugging at his pant leg, pulling him toward a specific location.

Ruofeng’s eyes narrowed. “You mean here?”

The Tibetan Mastiff nodded and led him toward a cave.

Ruofeng followed closely, stepping into the dimly lit chamber.

“This… is this the Canine Clan’s archive?” he muttered, eyes widening as rows of bookshelves emerged before him.

Ruofeng scanned the collection and quickly identified three primary categories. The first: is Natural Chakra and Immortal Mode. The second is sealing Arts and Research. The third: The Complete Book of Ninja Dogs.

It was clear that the Inuyasha Clan’s collection focused on training ninja dogs, cultivating the Immortal Mode, and researching sealing techniques.

The Tibetan Mastiff bit down on a book and turned its gaze toward Ruofeng.

He stepped forward, reaching for the tome, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.
