Natural Disaster: I Started By Hoarding Tens Of Billions Of Supplies

Chapter 548: I Don’t Have Much Time Left

Yao Ran turned to the bodyguards and anxiously asked, "Where is my grandfather?!"

Staring at the vacant bed, the bodyguards were momentarily stunned.

The leader quickly regained his composure and responded, "Chairman Yao was still sleeping inside before the earthquake. From the moment the door was blocked until now, it's been less than three minutes. It's impossible for someone to kidnap Chairman Yao without us noticing."

Hearing this, Yao Ran's eyes flickered as she scanned the room.

Meanwhile, Long Yu checked the windows and shook his head. "No signs of forced entry."

Just as he said that, their watches suddenly chimed with a notification.

Ding! Ding! Ding!

Hearing the sounds, Yao Ran suddenly had a bad premonition. Without hesitation, she pressed her watch. As soon as the screen lit up, a massive warning sign flashed before her eyes.

[Attention to all personnel! We have detected a significant change in the planetary crack. From now on, we will activate the Red Code warning. All agents, please report back to headquarters and begin the evacuation procedure!]

After reading the warning announcement, the leader of the bodyguards looked at Yao Ran and asked, "Eldest Young Lady, what are your instructions?"

Yao Ran clenched her hands tightly and said, "You all return to headquarters and report back. I will find my grandfather."

Knowing they couldn't defeat whoever had kidnapped Yao Zi'ao, the leader decided not to cause trouble for Yao Ran and agreed. "Yes, Eldest Young Lady."

After saying that, he turned to his subordinates and ordered, "Let's go."

Now left alone with Yao Ran, Long Yu said, "Ran Ran, do you know who kidnapped your grandfather?"

Yao Ran shook her head and replied, "I don't know. However, besides Shi Xuan, who possesses teleportation skills, there is only one other person capable of taking my grandfather away without leaving a trace."

Hearing this, Long Yu's eyes flickered as he asked, "You mean… Gao Shuwei?"

Yao Ran nodded. "Yes."

Just as she finished speaking, the ground shook again. Seeing the ceiling crack and debris beginning to fall, Long Yu quickly carried Yao Ran and said, "Let's go back to headquarters first."

Hugging Long Yu's neck, Yao Ran turned to see the hospital crumbling behind them.

Fortunately, with the combined efforts of the soldiers, nurses, doctors, and staff, everyone managed to evacuate before the building collapsed entirely.

Meanwhile, far away near the planetary cracks, Gao Shuwei looked at Wu Lian and said, "Cousin, I asked you to bring Yao Ran to me, but instead, you brought Grandpa. What are you doing?"

Before Wu Lian could respond, Yao Zi'ao raised his hand and said, "Don't blame him. I was the one who told him to bring me here."

Hearing this, Gao Shuwei turned to look at Yao Zi'ao. Seeing his pale complexion and exhausted face, Gao Shuwei frowned and said, "Grandpa, you should be resting, not coming here to make trouble."

Yao Zi'ao reached out to Gao Shuwei and said, "Shuwei, come, let Grandpa take a closer look at you."

Gao Shuwei hesitated for a moment before standing up from the stone boulder and walking up to Yao Zi'ao. Half-kneeling in front of his wheelchair, he allowed Yao Zi'ao to touch his face and closed his eyes.

Caressing Gao Shuwei's sunken cheeks, Yao Zi'ao said with a hint of heartache in his voice, "Shuwei, you have become thinner. You need to take better care of yourself."

Gao Shuwei held Yao Zi'ao's thin hand and asked, "Grandpa, why did you come here?"

Noticing the slight tremble in his voice, Yao Zi'ao said, "I already know that you only have half of the Lingyuan Jade Pendant. With just my DNA, you won't be able to repair the world with only half of the heirloom's power."

At these words, Gao Shuwei opened his eyes and shot a glare at Wu Lian.

Seeing this, Wu Lian raised his hands defensively and said, "Cousin, I didn't have a choice. Grandpa threatened me with his life, so I had no option but to tell him everything and bring him instead of Yao Ran."

Yao Zi'ao let out a sigh and gently rubbed Gao Shuwei's head. "Don't blame him."

Looking away from Wu Lian, Gao Shuwei sighed. "Grandpa, I will send you back now."

Yao Zi'ao shook his head. "No. I know you need Yao family blood to compensate for the missing power of the Lingyuan Jade Pendant. Rather than hurting Ran Ran, I will give you my blood."

As soon as he finished speaking, Gao Shuwei refused without hesitation. "No! Do you know how much blood I need? You will die before I can collect enough."

Hearing this, Yao Zi'ao glanced at Wu Lian and said, "Take it out."

Wu Lian nodded and opened the box he had been carrying. When Gao Shuwei saw the blood bags inside, his eyes widened in shock.

"Grandpa, you—"

Seeing his stunned expression, Yao Zi'ao explained, "I have known about your plans ever since I founded the Yao Security Company. Since then, I have been preparing these blood reserves in case you ever need them."

"Now, it's finally time to give them to you. It's a pity I don't have more blood to offer, given that I just woke up, but with the addition of these reserves, it should be enough."

Yao Zi'ao smiled at Gao Shuwei and gently added, "Shuwei, Grandpa will stay with you. Don't be afraid."

Gao Shuwei's eyes turned red at his words. Lowering his head, he took a deep breath to steady his emotions and whispered, "I have never been afraid. Thank you, Grandpa. But you shouldn't sacrifice yourself for me."

Yao Zi'ao chuckled and rubbed his head. "Silly child. You were willing to sacrifice yourself for this world. Why shouldn't I do the same for you? Besides, this world is not yours to begin with."

When he heard this, Gao Shuwei lifted his head and met Yao Zi'ao's gentle gaze. "Grandpa… You know that I–"

Before he could continue, Yao Zi'ao cut him off. "Shuwei, I don't have much time left, so let's not waste it."

Realizing that Yao Zi'ao didn't want to talk about that, Gao Shuwei stood up and turned to Wu Lian.
