NBA Skills: Dominating Kuroko no Basket

Chapter 29: Paying Back in Kind

Experiencing Shiro's overwhelming aura, Hanamiya tried to mask his surprise with an air of calm, though he was clearly shaken. His sharp gaze fixed on Shiro as he whispered to his teammates, "Find a way to distract the ref later. I'm going to give this guy a taste of pain!"

The three players around him exchanged knowing, malicious smiles and nodded in agreement with Hanamiya's plan.

Unlike the others' eager attitudes, Imayoshi was unusually quiet, watching the scene like a detached observer. He understood that since Hanamiya joined Kashima, a subtle shift had taken place in the team.

At that moment, Akashi skillfully advanced the ball to half-court and immediately passed it to Shiro. Akashi's sole objective now was to make sure the ball got to Shiro so he could teach Hanamiya a lesson.

Seeing this, Imayoshi softly cautioned Akashi "Please remind Shiro to be careful; Hanamiya might try something dirty"

Akashi, slightly surprised, replied, "No need to worry, we trust in Shiro unconditionally"

This response puzzled Imayoshi, but he understood, after all, Shiro was Teiko's ace player. It would come down to whether Shiro's pure skill could outmatch Hanamiya's underhanded tactics.

Shiro signaled for space, ready to face Hanamiya one-on-one. Hanamiya flashed a wicked grin, undeterred by Shiro's powerful aura and eager to take him down.

Standing at the three-point line on the right wing, Shiro bent his knees slightly, intently watching his opponent. Suddenly, he took a jab step to the right, feinting a drive in that direction. When Hanamiya took the bait, he dropped his center of gravity, dribbled with his right hand, and quickly crossed over to the left.

The movement flowed smoothly, with no visible flaws, leaving Hanamiya completely fooled. In a split second, Shiro had driven past his left side. Realizing he'd been deceived, Hanamiya turned to chase, moving in close to strike Shiro with a sneaky right hook.

But Shiro anticipated his move and stepped back with a flawless Harden's Double Step-Back, widening the distance between them in an instant.

Shiro, now beyond the three-point line, shot with a Curry: 3-point shooting, and the ball swished cleanly through the net.

The score shifted to 5-2.

"Is that all you got? Pathetic!" Shiro sneered, glancing at Hanamiya before heading back to prepare for defense.

"Damn it! Imayoshi, pass me the ball!" Hanamiya shouted, fuming with anger.

Imayoshi sighed but reluctantly passed the ball to Hanamiya.

"Heh, I won't stop until I crush you!" Hanamiya sneered, his expression dark and his gaze fixed firmly on Shiro. With a grim determination, he dribbled the ball with an ominous calm, moving to the left wing.

"Pathetic!" Shiro mocked, a smirk on his face. "Let's see what you got. Today, I'll show you just how big the gap is between us!"

Hanamiya's eyes flashed with anger, but he quickly refocused. With a sudden burst of speed, he charged toward Shiro like a predator on the hunt. The other Kashima players moved tactically to create an open shot for him.

Hanamiya attempted a flashy double crossover, then a sudden drive to the right. But Shiro stayed with him like an immovable wall, not giving him an inch of breathing space.

Shiro's attention never wavered, staying alert for Hanamiya's dirty tricks while also keeping an eye on the ref. He knew that only by responding with equally ruthless tactics could he truly intimidate Hanamiya.

Suddenly, Hanamiya made a quick spin move, elbows raised as he attempted to strike Shiro with one of them.

'Is that all you've got? You wouldn't last a day in the NBA!' Shiro scoffed, sidestepping the hit with ease. Hanamiya missed, but seized the moment to go for a regular jump shot.

However, Shiro dashed forward like a whirlwind, leaping high and delivering a powerful knee strike to Hanamiya's thigh mid-air!

Hanamiya's face twisted in agony, his scream filling the court as he clutched his thigh and collapsed, unable to stand.

The referee's whistle blew sharply, halting the game.

As the ref signaled a defensive foul against Shiro, an enraged Hanamiya protested, "What kind of referee are you? That was an intentional foul! You should have sent him off the court directly!"

Trying to stay calm, the ref explained, "It looked like a regular foul to me"

But Hanamiya ignored him, cursing loudly in frustration, clearly dissatisfied with the call.

Ironically, had he not directed his teammates to block the referee's view, Shiro's actions might have been fully seen, leading to a different outcome.

Meanwhile, Teiko's players thought Hanamiya was purely to blame. Who asked him to provoke Shiro? You should know that him is not someone you can easily mess with. Not only can he easily beat you on the basketball court, but he can also fight back against your tricks!

Because of Shiro's strike, Hanamiya was forced out of the game, relegated to the bench where he sat, glowering at Shiro as he moved effortlessly across the court.

Imayoshi, watching from afar, felt conflicted. Without Hanamiya, Kashima had no chance against Teiko, yet the fault ultimately lay with Hanamiya and his underhanded methods.

In the end, the game became a one-sided domination by Teiko.

As the final buzzer sounded, the scoreboard read 106-54.

No one could deny it: Teiko had won decisively, their sheer skill leaving no room for doubt.
