NBA Skills: Dominating Kuroko no Basket

Chapter 46: None of Them Matter as Much as You

After an intense showdown, the game finally ended

The Teiko team took to the podium, full of excitement, lifting the golden trophy high above their heads. Players from Rokko looked on with envy as Teiko celebrated their victory.

Shiro, thanks to his outstanding performance, was undoubtedly named the Finals MVP and was also honored with the National Championship's Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for his unmatched skill and impressive record throughout the season.

For a whole week after this thrilling final, major basketball newspapers, magazines, and weeklies made Teiko their cover story, giving them extensive coverage. Teiko's name quickly spread far and wide, earning them the title of the rising powerhouse in junior high basketball, and the "Generation of Miracles" became a household name.

"Agh! This is torture! Not only do I have to take extra classes, but I have to retake exams!" At that moment, Aomine was in the classroom, clutching his head in frustration.

"Well, if you had just studied harder, you wouldn't be in this situation. We only had to make up for the classes we missed because of the tournament, but the retakes? That's all on you. All of us passed our finals except for you!" Momoi explained with a hint of exasperation, like a concerned parent worried about their child's grades.

"What about Shiro? How did he manage to pass?" Aomine asked, surprised that he was the only one who failed, still struggling to accept it.

"Are you kidding? Shiro's ranked first in the entire school!" Momoi said, shaking her head with a sigh. "Not only is he super smart and good-looking, but he's also incredible on the court!" At the mention of Shiro, her eyes sparkled as she morphed into a full-on fan girl. "Alright, no more complaints. Go train already!"

'Right, why am I worrying? I'll deal with it later!' Aomine thought to himself, already eager to hit the gym. He shot out of the classroom like an arrow, sprinting towards the gymnasium.

"Hey, wait for me!" Momoi called after him, frustrated but too late to catch up. Stomping her foot, she muttered, "That guy is always so impatient! Couldn't he at least wait for me?" She pouted, clearly irritated.

"Hey, Momoi, what's going on? Where's Aomine?" Shiro suddenly appeared nearby.

"Shiro, Daiki is so annoying! He just ran off without me!" Momoi's frustration faded a little as Shiro arrived, her expression softening as she moved closer to him.

"Then let's go together" Shiro said, a subtle smile appearing on his face as if he secretly enjoyed Aomine's absence. His eyes sparkled as he looked at Momoi, as bright as stars in the night.

"Mm... alright!" Momoi blushed, lowering her gaze but unable to keep her eyes off Shiro. Her voice was soft, barely above a whisper, so as not to disrupt the peaceful moment.

So, the two walked side by side on the path to the gym.Shiro lowed his pace, as if he wanted this time to stretch on forever. His gaze often drifted toward Momoi, a warm smile spreading across his face. Likewise, Momoi's eyes occasionally turned toward Shiro, her hair gently blowing past her cheek, adding to her shy charm.

In that moment, they seemed like flowers blooming in the gentle spring breeze, radiating their own beauty and fragrance. The world around them felt frozen in time, with only a faint sense of closeness lingering between them.

"Ahhh, it's Shiro!" squealed a girl passing by. Since the national championship, Shiro had become famous not only outside the school but also within it.

"What are you waiting for? Go take a picture with Shiro!" her friend urged, as it was rare to see him outside of class or the gym, which was usually off-limits to spectators.

They hurried over, drawing the attention of those around them.

"Oh, Shiro! You're so cool!"

"Shiro, I'd have your kids!"

A wave of girls, young and vibrant, crowded around Shiro, pushing Momoi aside without hesitation and forming a human wall around him.

Left standing alone outside the group, Momoi felt a pang of jealousy and a bit of disappointment: "Hmph, he's probably thrilled to be surrounded by all these pretty girls!"

Reluctantly, she stepped back and gave up her spot beside Shiro. After all, they were just friends, nothing more. After one last glance at Shiro, she turned and began walking away, feeling downhearted.

As Shiro stood among the enthusiastic fans, he found it hard to turn down their requests for photos. But then, he noticed Momoi disappearing into the distance, and his heart immediately raced. "Excuse me, everyone, please let me through! I have something urgent!" Without waiting for a response, Shiro pushed his way out of the crowd and hurried toward Momoi's retreating figure.

"Momoi, wait up!" he called, catching up to her and standing in her path. She looked at him with a faint smile, feigning annoyance. "Hmph, you've got all these girl fans now, why bother?"

Even though she tried to sound nonchalant, Shiro detected the hint of jealousy in her tone. He smiled, thinking how endearing her stubbornness was. After two lifetimes, Shiro had grown remarkably perceptive, quickly sensing Momoi's true feelings. Unable to suppress his happiness, he broke into a smile that couldn't be contained.

"None of them matter as much as you" he said without hesitation.

Momoi hadn't expected such a direct response, and her face turned bright red. She stumbled over her words, "W-What are you saying?" But her eyes held his gaze, unwilling to look away.

"Nothing, just saying let's go to the gym" he replied, switching topics abruptly, leaving her standing there, stunned.

"Hmph! You're such a tease, Shiro!" she exclaimed, snapping out of it and determined not to let him slip away so easily. She rushed to catch up, tugging his sleeve with a pout. "Come on, say it again!"

Shiro felt a surge of warmth, as if he were tasting the sweetest candy. Momoi's shy and playful demeanor was irresistibly charming, and he couldn't hold back his response.

"I said none of them matter as much as you, Momoi" he murmured with a smile.

Hearing the words, Momoi's heart fluttered. She was, after all, still a young girl, and such direct words made her shy. In a flash, she turned and ran towards the gym to escape the intensity of the moment.

Shiro watched her playful figure, his eyes filled with a tender affection. He trailed behind her leisurely, as they headed towards the gym, their laughter echoing in the air, painting a scene of warmth and happiness.
