Neurolink System in the Modern World

Chapter 556: Finale

'Don't tell me...' When it all clicked, something inside my brain snapped.

My vision blurred and shifted—colors dissolved into streams of binary numbers, zeros and ones cascading like waterfalls.

At the same time, memories I didn't know I had came rushing into my mind.

"Hahahaha!" I couldn't help but laugh, the sound echoing through the air. It was so absurd, yet so perfectly clear now.

Aria's expression shifted from suspicion to outright alarm as I started laughing uncontrollably.

Her grip on the bow tightened, and she took a cautious step back, her eyes darting between me and the Monolith.

"What's so funny?" she demanded, her voice tinged with both confusion and fear. "What the hell is going on?"

"It all makes sense!" I finally managed to say.

"This world, this game, the Monoliths... everything. It's all code. All of it! We are in a game."

Aria's eyes narrowed, her bow unwavering. "What are you talking about? Stop speaking in riddles."

I turned to her, my grin fading into something more serious. "And not just any game... it's my game."

The words hung in the air, heavy with meaning. As they echoed in my mind, I snapped my fingers.

In an instant, the world around me dissolved. When my vision cleared, I was standing somewhere else—a vast, infinite expanse filled with countless glowing orbs, each one no bigger than a marble.

I reached out, brushing my fingers against one of the orbs, and in that moment, I could feel it—a fully realized world contained within. Entire realities spun inside each sphere, complete with their own rules, landscapes, and lives.

Scenes flowed through my mind in real time, vivid and alive.

I reached out and touched one of the floating orbs. Instantly, I was drawn into a world where magic flourished—an enchanting realm of wizards and mythical creatures, where the very air shimmered with arcane energy.

Curious, I touched another. This time, it was a planet where technology had advanced beyond imagination. Towering cities stretched into the sky, and machines lived alongside humans, their intelligence rivaling that of their creators.

Another orb caught my eye, and with a light touch, I saw a world where life revolved around an enormous tower. Each floor was the size of an entire city, its inhabitants struggling to climb higher and uncover the mysteries of their endless labyrinth.

And then, a darker world emerged—a desolate, terrifying place where the slightest sound meant death. People lived in absolute silence, their lives shaped by fear of the lurking predators that thrived on noise.

The more orbs I touched, the crazier and more outrageous the worlds became. Each one was a reflection of some fleeting thought or desire, now grown into fully realized realities.

'So, this is it,' I whispered, exhaustion creeping into my voice. 'These are all... my creations.'

Why so many?

Because I created all of them out of boredom.

After living for countless years, the toll of eternity finally caught up to me. At first, it was subtle—small cracks in my mind, fleeting moments of doubt and despair.

Even my harem beg for end.

It wasn't out of cruelty but mercy. Watching their once-bright spirits break under the weight of eternity was too much to bear.

Each one of them, at some point, had whispered the same plea—release. And I gave it to them, even though it tore me apart.

After that I had traveled to distant planets, explored the farthest reaches of existence, and experienced the richness of life in every imaginable form.

And in the end, I reached a point where nothing could be done anymore. It was over. I had become the strongest, the most powerful, the everything.

But at what cost?

Power meant nothing in the void of purpose.

Strength was meaningless in a world where no challenge remained. I had won, yes—but in doing so, I had lost everything that made existence worth enduring.

'Should I picked another game?'

I walked forward and checked the worlds that I let to developed on their own. The plan was to once again erase my memory.

'No, this is all useless,' I sighed, feeling the truth hit me hard. Deep down, I knew it, even though I tried to ignore it.

Everything I was doing, all the things I thought would bring me peace or satisfaction, just felt empty. It was like trying to fill a hole that could never be filled.

With that in mind, I closed my eyes and teleported back to where it all began—Earth.

It had been millions of years since I last set foot here, and even with all the technology and advancements I had once offered, this place had become a wasteland.

It wasn't that humanity had gone extinct. They had found better worlds in distant galaxies, worlds where life was easier, more fulfilling. Earth, once vibrant and full of promise, had been left behind.

Now, only a few thousand people remained, scattered and struggling, living like vagabonds in the ruins of a once-great civilization.

They clung to the remnants of the past, lost in a world that no longer had a place for them.

Time was impartial, indifferent to everything, even to me. My name had long since been erased, swallowed by the endless passage of years.

Now, I was no more than a myth, a legend, a story passed down through the ages.

I floated around the area, once familiar, now drastically changed. This was supposed to be the site of my old house, but tectonic shifts had transformed it into a hill.

Still, with a mere flick of my power, I recreated my house on top.

A smile tugged at my lips as I stepped through the door. Memories flooded back—both the good and the bad.

Every moment, every event that had once felt painful or joyous now seemed like a blessing.

CLICK!

I stepped through the door to my old room, the familiar sight of my messy bedroom greeting me. A smile tugged at my lips as I remembered how I had lived back then—imperfect, yet full of life. The clutter, the mess, it had all been a part of me.

I even recreated my PC and checked an app I used to talk with my fellow degenerates. Of course, everyone was offline since it had been millions of years, and it was just a recreation.

My attention soon shifted to the mirror . I stared at my reflection, watching as my face—once flawless and untouchable—began to shift slowly, turning back into what it had been. My old self.

The change was subtle at first, as if my body itself was unsure whether to let go of the perfection it had carried for so long. But soon, the years of power, of detachment, faded from my features, and I saw the face of the person I had once been. The one who had lived, struggled, and felt every moment of existence.

For the first time in a long while, I felt real.

I picked up the bottle of water I had recreated, the cool liquid refreshing as it slid down my throat.

But this time, I had added a small twist.

As I lay down on my bed, the familiar weight of exhaustion crept over me. My vision began to fade, the world around me blurring into nothingness.

'I can finally rest easy,' I whispered, a sense of contentment washing over me as I closed my eyes.

Authors Note:

Thank you for joining us on this journey. I know it might feel like it's all rushed, but this was really the ending I was aiming for.

I skipped over some parts because, if you know Zyden, he would just continue to be unstoppable and troll everyone with no real challenge.

That being said, this wasn't a bad ending—he lived for countless years and enjoyed every imaginable experience.

After note:

This is what Zyden saw when he looked at his PC.
