Chapter 79: Chapter 79: Level 4 Biohazard Alert! Dr. Clef Destroys the Foundation!
"The walls have shifted. Nothing is where it's supposed to be. My map of Site-17 is completely useless now. All I can do is follow the signs... and hope they lead me to the right place."
Dr. Clef muttered under his breath, bewildered. He walked along the twisted corridors until, finally, the brilliant white light that had flooded the area began to fade.
Confused, Clef found himself facing a wall where a door should have been.
"What the hell is going on? I swear the door was right here..."
He stepped forward, reaching out to touch the surface before him—and froze.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Clef hammered at the wall, but the noise that rang out wasn't the dull thud of concrete.
It was the sharp metallic clang of fists striking metal.
As he processed this, a few delicate butterflies fluttered across the wall.
"Butteflies?"
Clef stiffened, realization dawning on him. Then, without warning, he burst into manic laughter.
"Hahahaha! Konny, you magnificent bastard! I've read your playbook—"
Before he could finish, a sharp voice interrupted.
"Smile, you son of a b**ch!"
Dr. Kondraki's voice cut through the static.
And with that, the audience finally caught a glimpse of Kondraki himself on the screen.
Or rather... four identical Kondrakis.
Instantly, the livestream erupted into chaos.
"WTF?! Four Kondrakis?!"
"Is Site-17 filled with anomalies or what?"
"Come on, Clef, you can beat them!"
At S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, Natasha Romanoff frowned in confusion.
"When did Dr. Kondraki learn to duplicate himself?" she muttered.
Nick Fury narrowed his one good eye, remembering Clef's mention of "butterflies."
And then it hit him—
SCP-408: The Phantom Butterflies.
The realization sent a chill down Fury's spine. 408 obeying a human's command was extraordinary. Even more unnerving was the camera clutched in Kondraki's hands—
the same camera he was always seen polishing.
Could the camera itself be anomalous?
In the live footage, the four Kondrakis advanced.
Clef's grin twisted into a grimace.
"You smart b*****d, Konny!" he snarled, raising his arms in frustration. "You actually convinced 408 to cooperate? Or did those damn bugs do it themselves?"
Kondraki only stared at him with cold disdain. Without saying a word, he lifted his camera and pointed it at Clef.
Snap!
A loud click echoed as Kondraki pressed the shutter.
A searing flash exploded across the space, enveloping everything in a white, buzzing storm.
The livestream audience squinted at the sudden burst of light—and then came another sound.
Bang!
A gunshot pierced the chaos.
"F!" Kondraki's shout rang out.
Bang!
Another shot.
And then—
Bang!
Three quick, merciless blasts.
When the light finally faded, the camera revealed a grim sight:
Dr. Kondraki lay sprawled on the ground, blood pooling beneath him. Two shots to the chest. One clean shot through the forehead. Each fatal.
Clef's shotgun smoked in his scarred, trembling hands.
Though he looked burned and barely able to stand, he moved forward and loomed over Kondraki's corpse.
"Well, now you're dead," Clef muttered with a hint of grim satisfaction. "At least... one of you."
He chuckled darkly before his voice hardened, thick with sarcasm.
"Why, Konny? Why are you doing this?" he asked bitterly. "Did she call you over? Curl up in your arms and beg you for help like a scared little girl?"
Without waiting for an answer, Clef sneered.
"No. She's not a child. She's a monster. The worst kind. Pretending to be innocent so she can slaughter you the moment your guard drops."
Straightening up, Clef tugged at his tattered lab coat.
"You can blind me, Konny. But my implants will still work. I'll get the job done."
Then, without hesitation, he turned and limped down the hall, muttering to himself.
"I just need a little help. And I think I know where to find it."
Even hardened agents like Nick Fury couldn't help but feel shaken.
"This guy," Fury said slowly, "is a complete lunatic."
But one question burned in everyone's mind:
Why was Clef so determined to terminate SCP-239?
And what was James and Kondraki's real plan?
The Foundation site was descending into chaos. Clef's reckless assault had caused more damage than most containment breaches.
Meanwhile, James and Kondraki were running out of time to find a containment solution.
If they failed...
Site-17 would be reduced to ashes.
The livestream camera cut back to surveillance footage, now accelerating rapidly.
6:25 AM:
Site-17's Bravo Security Team vanished from the monitors.
6:30 AM:
They reappeared—now clad in full medieval-style plate armor and wielding heaters and longswords.
6:35 AM:
Dr. Clef reemerged in the B-9 corridor.
The armored security team attempted to subdue him.
6:36 AM:
Within less than a minute, Clef had defeated the entire squad.
Watching the footage, the audience gasped at Clef's arsenal.
From his battered lab coat, he pulled an endless stream of bizarre weapons like some twisted version of Doraemon.
Finally, at 6:38 AM, Clef reached a strange containment area:
The SCP-091-ARC Kiln Collection Facility.
New information flashed on the screen:
[Item No.: SCP-091-ARC]
[Object Class: Euclid]
[Special Containment Procedures:] SCP-091-ARC is housed in a modified underground botanical garden...
[Description:] SCP-091-ARC appears to be a deciduous tree approximately four meters tall, although its height fluctuates slightly with the lunar cycle.
Despite being a plant, SCP-091-ARC exhibits distinct feminine characteristics...
The audience went wild.
"Wait... a tree... that's female?!"
"How is a TREE supposed to help Clef??"
"Doctor Clef... bro, are you okay?"
Some joked that Clef must have finally snapped.
But before the jokes could spiral further, blaring alarms interrupted the livestream.
"WARNING! CONTAINMENT BREACH DETECTED!"
"LEVEL 4 BIOHAZARD ALERT!"
"ALL PERSONNEL, EVACUATE OR LOCKDOWN IMMEDIATELY!"
The shock in the chat was palpable.
At S.H.I.E.L.D., Natasha gaped.
"Was this... caused by Dr. Clef's contact with SCP-091-ARC?!"
Fury didn't answer immediately. His gaze darkened.
What they were witnessing wasn't just a containment breach—it was the prelude to a massacre.
On the screen, the feed switched from general surveillance to a focused shot of the monitoring room.
A cloud of butterflies scattered, revealing a staggering figure—
Dr. Kondraki.
Although visibly injured, Kondraki dragged himself to the console, frantically cycling through camera feeds.
"Damn it... Clef, you maniac!" he cursed.
Switching to the F-19 corridor, Kondraki froze.
His face turned pale as the image burned into his mind.
There, on the screen, stood Clef.
He was locked in a grotesque embrace with a slender, tree-like figure—a humanoid entity made of bark and vines.
It was SCP-091-ARC.
In less than a second, the infection began.
Blossoms erupted across Clef's body.
Pollen filled the air, swirling in visible clouds.
Wherever it touched, Foundation systems malfunctioned, anomalies destabilized, and even the phantom butterflies collapsed.
The structure of Site-17 itself began to distort again, as if reality were unraveling.
Bang!
Kondraki slammed his fist into the console, eyes wide with horror.
Fear replaced anger.
He grabbed a transmitter and barked into it:
"[STATIC]...SCP-091-ARC containment breach! Site-17 needs immediate support! Repeat, need f*****g support!!!"
A panicked voice crackled back through the static.
"Kondraki? Jesus—what's happening down there?! We're hearing rumors about a full lockdown!"
"Listen to me," Kondraki growled. "Clef has released SCP-091-ARC. It's extremely aggressive! Tell Dr. Gears we need him!"
The operator hesitated, then answered:
"Dr. Gears and Dr. Kain are already en route. Hold on."
Kondraki exhaled shakily, his body slumping.
But the fear in his expression only deepened.
Finally, in a broken voice, he whispered into the transmitter:
"Everything... is wrong..."
The line went dead.
