NIKKE: The Apocalypse Arrives, But the System is 100 Years Late

Chapter 196: Chapter 196: Revolt Against the Heavens?

The skies above the Outer Rim were covered in heavy clouds, and the ruins of the slums simmered with unrest. The situation was on the brink of collapse, and the storm of battle loomed overhead.

Inside a dilapidated ruin in the Outer Rim, three Nikkes lounged idly on a worn-out sofa, seemingly waiting for the show to begin.

"Viper, is the surveillance feed ready?"

Crow sat back on the couch, one leg crossed over the other, a lollipop lazily resting between her lips. She draped her arm over the back of the sofa, the corner of her mouth curled into a mocking smile.

"Of course, how could I not capture such a grand occasion?" Viper's sultry gaze shimmered with amusement. Her delicate features were as enchanting as a blooming peach blossom, but her heart was as venomous as a snake's.

"After all, this is a rare spectacle in the Outer Rim, isn't it?"

They were members of the Exotic squad.

The Exotic were a unit composed of personnel from the slums beyond the Ark, seemingly under Ark jurisdiction but, in truth, a faction dedicated to chaos and destruction.

This gang war was largely their doing.

Now that their plan was coming to fruition, they had gathered in the Outer Rim to fan the flames one last time.

A glint of amusement flickered in Crow's eyes.

"Once everything is set, broadcast the footage across the Ark's sky screens. I'm sure there will be plenty of people eager to watch."

"My, my, you're absolutely wicked," Viper giggled behind her hand, throwing a sly glance at her comrade. "Once they see Nikkes actually killing people, those pampered little darlings in the Ark might just wet themselves."

"I'm merely stripping away the Ark's facade, revealing the real world for what it is," Crow sneered. "Humans and Nikkes coexisting in harmony? Nikkes being treated as equals? Tch, only fools believe in such fairy tales."

"It's time for them to wake up."

Meanwhile, in the Outer Rim, the battle was about to erupt.

Large numbers of mass-produced Nikkes had been deployed to the soon-to-be war zone within the slums. Some were at the end of their service life, while others were brand new. But whether new or old, their fate would be sealed here.

At the signal, they would be thrown into battle.

And then, they would die.

The Nikkes stood in silence. The air was heavy with sorrow. Some wiped away tears, some stood frozen in terror, others mourned, while some had already succumbed to numbness, as if they were walking corpses awaiting execution.

At that moment, one Nikke reached into her uniform and carefully pulled out a small booklet.

Her fingers brushed over it gently, as if caressing a treasure.

She had hidden it, evading countless inspections to keep it from being confiscated.

It was the Universal Human Rights.

A dreamland, a utopia—the place they longed for even in their wildest dreams.

According to the Nikkes who had come from there, at the Outpost, Nikkes and humans were equals—they were all citizens and enjoyed the same rights.

There were no beatings, no humiliation, no hunger, and no suffering. They lived like real people.

Everyone lived in harmony.

It was a kind of freedom they had never experienced before.

"I could have endured the darkness if I had never seen the light."

That was the paradise they dreamed of: they longed to be assigned there.

However, reality was cruel.

Before they could even catch a glimpse of that place, they were discarded here like trash, labeled as defective and worthless.

Seeing the booklet, other Nikkes gathered around, holding each other as they sobbed.

They, too, longed for a better life.

Just then, the order was given.

The fierce battle had finally begun.

"Ratatatat—!"

"Bang! Bang! Bang—!"

Bullets rained down like a storm, cutting down the charging Nikkes in waves.

A Nikke, riddled with bullets, staggered before collapsing into a pool of blood, still clutching the booklet tightly in her arms. Blood poured from the bullet holes in her body, staining the cover of the booklet red.

In a haze, she seemed to glimpse that beautiful paradise…

Suddenly, a deafening explosion echoed through the skies above the Outer Rim.

Immediately after, a massive force of armed Nikke troops advanced toward the battlefield—an elite unit, fully armed!

It was the Central Government Army!

The various gang members hesitated upon seeing them.

Going up against the Central Government? That was a death sentence!

But that wasn't all.

A large number of Nikkes clad in combat suits surged onto the battlefield, tearing into the ranks of the Heavenly Ascension terrorists.

These Nikkes were terrifyingly powerful.

They wore specially designed battle suits, their movements swift and precise. The weapons in their hands were unlike anything seen before—extremely powerful. One shot was enough to vaporize a person entirely!

It was Mo Chen's vanguard squad!

And the weapons they wielded were none other than boltguns!

Now that Mo Chen had accumulated enough combat points, he had upgraded his forces with better weaponry.

Sensing the shift in battle, the three major gangs of the Outer Rim immediately began withdrawing, leaving only the Heavenly Ascension terrorists, who were still putting up a desperate resistance.

However, with their control signals cut off, the mass-produced Nikkes had gone rogue, beyond their masters' control.

With the Triangle Squad and the Central Army reinforcing the battlefield, the Heavenly Ascension forces collapsed quickly.

Within just ten minutes, they had been almost entirely wiped out.

Mo Chen arrived on the battlefield and finally let out a breath of relief.

They had made it in time.

He saw the Nikke lying on the ground, helped her up, and pulled the booklet from her arms. When he saw the cover, he felt a complex mix of emotions.

The Seraphim Squad quickly stepped forward, taking the Nikke from his arms and immediately beginning treatment.

This was a unit he had borrowed from Andersen.

"Hey, you owe me a favor now," Privaty said smugly to Mo Chen.

So, even you need my help, huh?

She looked completely pleased with herself, like a villain who had just gotten the upper hand.

"Yeah, sure," Mo Chen replied with a smile.

At that moment, Rapi, Anis, Neon, and even Marian all arrived, joining the battle against the terrorists.

No matter how strong the gangs in the Outer Rim were, they were no match for the regular army—especially with Mo Chen personally leading the charge.

And this event became a major breaking news story in the Ark.

"Government forces successfully eradicate the Heavenly Ascension terrorist organization!"

However, what caused an even bigger stir was the announcement that Universal Human Rights would now be enforced within the Ark as well.

This was outright long-arm jurisdiction.

The public engaged in heated discussions, with opinions divided.

But with Mo Chen's presence, most of the Ark's citizens remained neutral.

As for the Ark's higher-ups, to them, this was complete mutiny—a blatant overthrow of their authority!

Not only had the Universal Human Rights survived without being repealed in the Outpost, but now it was being imposed on the Ark itself!

Of course, no matter how fiercely they opposed it, it was nothing more than impotent rage.

Mo Chen simply stated that if anyone had objections, they could come talk to him personally—he was more than willing to have a face-to-face discussion.

Not a single person showed up.
