CHAPTER 158 - Keryu’s Plans.
Among the many realms in Astralorbis, the one known to be most lawless and dangerous was always the demon realm.
It was true that demons weren't just bloodthirsty and would kill anyone, but to races that weren't demons, they were evil because of their tendencies.
However, there was a place in the demon realm where even the worst demons feared to step in. It is called the desolate region.
Alex was in this area right now because he knew that this was where Lilia had come to hide. This area was dangerous but also the best place to hide since very few people would dare to come in.
Alex had come to this area before, but he had never ventured deep into the area. Read new chapters at My Virtual Library Empire
'Now that I have come this far, I can feel why it was advised for the weak-willed not to come here," Alex muttered, feeling chills on his back.
It wasn't that he felt fearful or cold; it was just that the atmosphere here affected one's mentality.
The desolate zone was eerily quiet, save for the occasional howl of wind that carried a faint, sorrowful wail. Alex's sharp gaze roamed over the barren expanse, not a single life form catching his sight. His hand never left the hilt of his sword as he moved forward with calculated steps.
The whispers grew louder the further he walked, as though the zone itself was alive and aware of his presence.
[I don't think you will face any problem, but I think you should keep yourself covered with mana,] Sophie suddenly spoke in his head, [That would at least protect you from weak sneak attacks.]
Hearing Sophie's advice, Alex did what she asked and covered his body with mana—something effortless for someone with an infinite amount of mana.
This area wasn't called desolate because no one lived here—it was called desolate because no sane being lived here. If Alex were to come across any living being, they would most probably be hostile, so as Sophie had said, he needed to be prepared.
The oppressive energy seemed to weigh on Alex more with every passing moment, but he remained unshaken as his gravity training was harder than this.
'It would've been good if I knew where she was, though...' Alex sighed as he continued his stride. If he knew where Lilia was, then he could've just rushed there, but the problem was that even in the plot where Keryu goes to bring Lilia back, the exact location was never clear.
It was always said that it was in the desolate region, but...
'The desolate region is as big as a country...' Another sigh left his lips. In an area this big, finding Lilia was like searching for a needle in a haystack.
But just then, Alex paused, his gaze fixed on the sight ahead of him.
A jagged hill loomed there, its peak crowned by a faint glow. There was something there that made Alex think that he needed to go there.
'That place might have clues,' he thought, being able to perceive the presence of some living being up there already.
"Another piece of the puzzle, perhaps," Alex muttered, his voice low and calm before heading there.

Back in the academy, Keryu Ivanovich sat in his room provided by the academy, a self-satisfied smirk playing on his lips. The report he had just received was intriguing—a disturbance in the council and the threat of Lucian.
"It isn't exactly going according to the plot," Keryu murmured, leaning back in his ornate chair. His purple eyes gleamed with malicious intent. "But this is better. Alex has always been a thorn in my plans, but Lucian might be able to take care of him..."
Keryu could still remember how strong Lucian was. He was one of the villains who had the ability to kill the protagonist, Ben; the only reason he couldn't was because of the numerous plot armors Ben had.
In the original plot, Ben was supposed to fight with Lucian, who would've tried to kill Ben, but the plot changes because of Alex. Instead of targeting Ben, as he did in the original plot, Lucian targeted Alex since Alex was the one who got close to Lilia.
It did come to him as a shocker that Lucian decided to retreat instead of fighting Alex head-on, but it wasn't uncalled for.
'Alex is Vanessa's son after all.' He thought to himself.
He still found it strange how Vanessa could have a child since she never had it in the novel, but since Alex was the same age as him, Keryu thought that maybe it was because of his eventual transmigration that Alex was brought into the plot to balance things out.
As he thought of Vanessa, a dangerous thought flashed past his head. 'Wouldn't it be more profitable if I became Alex's stepfather?'
A chill ran down his spine the moment he thought about it, but he didn't wave this idea out. He was actually contemplating it.
"Keryu! Are you there?"
A feminine voice from a communication device that Keryu kept beside his bed was heard, breaking him out of his thoughts.
Picking up the device, he pushed his mana into it and smiled. "Yes, I'll be there in a while, Maleshia."
As soon as his words fell, an elated voice came from the other side. "Okay~! I will be waiting."
The connection was cut after that, but a grin remained painted on his face. 'What kind of play should I try today?' He wondered.
He hadn't been able to get as many girls as he had thought he would, but it didn't matter. He had his teacher for now, and she could satiate all of his lust. The others can wait; he would think about them when he had saved his sister.
'Eris...' As he thought of her, he couldn't help but feel a bit sad. Keryu hasn't been able to contact her for the past few days after all. He did get through once, but she seemed absentminded.
For some unknown reason, he was feeling uneasy.
"Master, your orders?" Another feminine voice pulled him out of his thoughts. This time, it was a black-haired girl bowing down to him respectfully.
Just like Alex had people in the academy, he had some as well, and she was one of his people.
Keryu's eyes scanned the girl's body, sighing inwardly. 'No matter how many times I see her, she doesn't get let seductive.'
Her curves had made Keryu almost lose his control and jump on her many times, but he had kept them in. That resolve, however, was weakening day by day.
'Should I just take her tonight?' He soon waved that thought away, replying to her question. "Send someone to investigate the council's activity. I want to know everything, especially any news related to Alex Drakathor."
Keryu was sure that the student council must be busy dealing with everything, and that was why he didn't seem bothered by anything and was about to go enjoy his time with Maleshia.
"Yes, Master," the girl replied before vanishing into the shadows.
Keryu chuckled to himself. "What are you going to do now, Alex?"
What he didn't know was that far from what he had thought—Alex wasn't even in the academy. All of his plans for saving Lilia and making her fall for him—which would never have happened—had already failed without him implementing them.
