Novel's Extra: I Awakened The Strongest Physique From The Start

CHAPTER 193 - Lilia’s Awake.

The battlefield, once filled with chaos, now stood eerily silent. Lucian exhaled, shaking the tension from his limbs as he withdrew his blood-soaked claws from Alex's chest. The body slumped to the ground, motionless.

"Finally..." Lucian muttered, his voice laced with exhaustion. The other star connection realm vampire stepped beside him, observing the fallen figure. "That was more troublesome than it should've been."

Lucian nodded. He had faced countless foes, but Alex had been different—relentless, unpredictable, and irritatingly hard to kill.

The worst of all was that he somehow felt something dangerous within that guy.

Lucian turned away, his eyes scanning the battlefield, as he ordered, "Check if any of the star formation vampires are still breathing. We might be able to salvage something from this mess."

His subordinate nodded in acknowledgment and moved towards the pile of broken bodies. The blood spear attack didn't just injure Alex; all the star formation realm vampires were also swept in.

Lucian, however, was frowning. As he stepped forward, something felt... off.

He stared at his palm, still slick with Alex's blood. A strange feeling crept into his mind, gnawing at the edges of his thoughts.

There was something unnatural about this. He had killed an enemy, yet he felt no thirst for the blood on his hands.

Normally, after a long fight, he would want to tear his enemy apart and drink their blood; it was a way of asserting victory. But today, he felt no such thing. His instincts, honed over centuries, whispered that something was wrong.

His fingers twitched slightly as he brought his hand close to his lips, curiosity overcoming wariness. He wanted to see what was different about this blood, but just as he was about to taste the blood—

Gurgle!

A sickening gurgle filled the air.

Lucian's head snapped up. His subordinate stood rigidly, his body trembling, and his head twisted unnaturally backward.

Lucian barely had time to react before he saw it.

A black sword. Piercing through the vampire's skull, emerging vertically from the top of his head.

The vampire's eyes rolled back, his body convulsing before going limp. Then, as if emerging from a void, Alex materialized behind him, gripping the sword's hilt with an emotionless gaze.

Lucian's eyes widened in disbelief. He turned sharply toward Alex's supposed corpse on the ground—only to see it dissipating into mist.

"An illusion…?!" He hissed, realization crashing into him like a tidal wave. His mind raced. 'When had this happened? How had I been deceived?'

He couldn't understand what was happening.

Lucian was sure there was no illusion in place. He was sure that Alex was injured, so how did he not die?

Then, it clicked.

'Lilia!'

His head snapped toward the far corner of the prison, where a lone figure sat slumped against the wall.

Only a succubus with a high-ranking bloodline could pull something like this off, and it was Lilia.

Blood streamed down her face, dripping from her nose and the corners of her eyes, clearly at her limit.

She had pushed herself to the limit since she had put two star-connection realm experts under an illusion while being a star formation realm expert, but despite the obvious toll the illusion had taken on her, a victorious grin stretched across her lips.

Lilia knew that it was only possible because both vampires weren't prepared and because they had their mental guards down, but a win was a win.

Lucian's face contorted in fury. "You—!" He clenched his fists, causing the air around him to crack with the pressure, but Lilia didn't falter; she just chuckled, muttering under her breath, "I'll leave the rest to you..."

Lucian's instincts rang as he heard those words, but before he could move—

Pierce!

He felt pain.

A deep, searing pain erupted in his chest. His body stiffened as he looked down.

The same black sword that had killed his subordinate now protruded from his chest, its tip glistening with fresh blood. His own heart, still faintly beating, impaled at the end of the blade.

"W-What?" His breath hitched. He tried to turn his head, but his body refused to obey.

Behind him, Alex stood, his gaze cold and unwavering.

He had used the moment Lucian's attention was diverted to use the darkness veil and move behind the vampire, delivering a finishing blow.

Lucian's lips parted as if to speak, but no words came out. His knees buckled, and he fell face-first onto the cold ground, Alex's sword tearing his shoulder apart.

Lucian's fingers twitched, blood flowing out of his shoulder uncontrollably, pooling before him as his body convulsed once—then stilled.

Alex, on the other hand, tightened his grip around Lucian's heart, staring at it without blinking.

Without hesitation, he crushed it in his palm. The wet squelch echoed in the dead silence of the prison.

Lucian was no more.

The young genius of the vampire realm was nothing but a lifeless corpse.

Alex exhaled, his icy demeanor flickering as his gaze immediately shifted toward Lilia. The coldness in his eyes melted into worry as he rushed to her side.

"Lilia!" He called, kneeling beside her.

He recalled how, just before Lucian and his subordinate's claws came in contact with him, their direction changed.

Alex didn't know what had happened at first, as he stared at the relief and satisfaction marring both Lucian's and his subordinate's faces before his eyes caught sight of Lilia.

She was smiling at him, causing Alex to realize that she was the one who had helped him.

It was because of her that Alex didn't need to use his last card.

Now, looking at her body trembling like a withered leaf, Alex couldn't help but clench his fists.

The strain of the illusion had drained her, her breaths shallow, but as she looked up at Alex, a soft smile formed on her lips.

"You're... okay..." she whispered, her voice weak but relieved.

[She needs a healing potion—the highest ranked—right now!] Sophie's urgent voice echoed through Alex's head before he could reply to Lilia's words.

He wasted no time. He didn't ask Sophie what was happening and why she was hurrying him; he quickly bought the potion from the system shop. Swiftly pulling it out, he uncorked it with one hand. "Drink this. Now."

Lilia chuckled softly as she saw his eyes. She could see that he wouldn't take no for an answer, nor would she deny it. She knew very well how severe her condition was.

But she still commented, smirking, "As bossy as... always."

"You shouldn't have pushed yourself so hard," Alex muttered, his voice betraying his concern.

Lilia sighed, resting her head against his shoulder. "I knew you'd be fine... but I didn't want to risk it. Had to do... something."

Alex clenched his jaw. She had risked her life for him. He wanted to scold her for being reckless, but right now, all that mattered was that she was alive.

A moment passed with silence between them before Lilia's arms weakly wrapped around him.

"It's good to see you, Alex," he whispered, feeling her body relax.

How she wished for the time to pause like this forever, as being in his arms was more comforting than the healing potion itself.

Alex closed his eyes as well, holding her tightly, fearing that she might slip away.

"Yeah... it's good to see you too," he said, breathing a sigh of relief.

The blood, the corpses, the chaos—all of it faded into the background. None of them cared about it.

For now, they had survived.

And that was enough.
