Chapter 273: Collecting First Shard World
"What is this aura!" the horned man gasped in shock; his confident smirk replaced by a look of genuine fear.
"How... how can he have such a thing in this world!" He stumbled backward, step by agonizing step, as Ye Yang emerged from the shattered spatial rift.
The small world, annihilated by the sheer force of his Extreme Yang Arts, was gone, leaving behind only swirling motes of destructive energy. Anything that dared to come close to Ye Yang began to crumble, disintegrating into nothingness.
"You... You, who are you? How do you..." the horned man stammered, his voice losing its arrogant edge. But Ye Yang didn't let him finish.
With a swift, almost imperceptible movement of his hand, a spatial blade materialized and sliced through the air, striking the horned man directly.
He fell, seemingly dead, but then, with a grotesque wet tearing sound, his body reformed. He let out a booming laugh, though there was a hint of strain in it now.
"Hahaha, you might possess that strange power which has the fire element, but you can't go against the almighty power of demons!" the horned man roared, trying to regain his composure.
Ye Yang remained silent, his face a mask of cold fury. He attacked again, and again, and again. Hundreds of times, he forced the horned man to regenerate.
Each strike, each regeneration, chipped away at the demon's seemingly endless power. The horned man's laughter began to sound more forced, his movements less fluid.
He started to feel a weakening, a slow drain on his monstrous vitality. Even for rapid regeneration, one needs an immense amount of blood to fuel the process.
After hundreds of regenerations, the horned man found that his body's ability to create blood was significantly slower than the rate at which his regenerative power consumed it, creating a devastating backlash.
This was a tactic Ye Yang remembered from Hell's fight with the Training Head when he himself became a demon.
Back then, Hell had relentlessly forced the demon to regenerate numerous times until the mortal body of the Training Head had completely crumbled under the strain. Ye Yang was applying the same brutal, unrelenting pressure.
He watched as the horned man's features began to twist with agony, his skin looking stretched and translucent in places. The power that had seemed so absolute was now failing him. The demon's regenerating laughter turned into ragged gasps for breath; his eyes wide with a dawning realization of his impending doom.
"No... now, this isn't possible!" the horned man wheezed, clutching at his chest as another spatial blade tore through him. He reformed, but slower this time, and his limbs trembled visibly. "My power... it's fading!"
Ye Yang stepped closer, the destructive aura around him intensified, making the very air crackle. "You underestimated me," he stated, his voice a low growl, devoid of any emotion. "You thought you could toy with me, with the lives of those I care about."
The horned man tried to retaliate, but his movements were sluggish, his once mighty blows now easily dodged by Ye Yang. Each of Ye Yang's counter-attacks was precise, aimed not to instantly kill, but to force another agonizing regeneration.
The demon was trapped in a cycle of endless pain, his own power becoming his undoing. He was bleeding, not just from the wounds, but from the very essence of his being.
The powerful demonic energy that fuelled his regeneration was being depleted faster than it could replenish, leaving him vulnerable, exposed, and terrified.
Slowly, the demon's form became less defined, his regeneration faltering with each passing second. Ye Yang finally closed the distance, his hand reaching out.
"No... when I had everything under control. When I became the only ruler of this world..." the horned man screamed, his voice no longer just strained, but laced with pure, unadulterated rage. He glared at Ye Yang, his eyes burning with a demonic fire. "YOU HAVE RUINED IT FOR ME!"
With a last, desperate surge of power, he lunged, throwing a punch aimed directly at Ye Yang's face. But before his fist could connect, the horned man's body began to disintegrate into countless shimmering particles. He vanished, his final, enraged cry echoing in the void.
'Dead!'
A sudden system notification appeared before Ye Yang's eyes, clear and concise.
[Shard World: 100%] Below it, another message began counting down. [Teleporting back in 10....]
"Huh," Ye Yang muttered, his gaze sweeping over the now empty, desolate space. His mind was a whirlwind of jumbled thoughts.
The raw fury that had fuelled him moments before began to recede, leaving behind a profound sense of exhaustion and a lingering bitter taste. "Why is this world so cruel..." he thought, the question a whisper in the vast nothingness.
[Teleporting back in 01...]
The next moment, everything went blank. The swirling vortex of light and shadow consumed him, and then, just as suddenly, it receded. Ye Yang found himself back in the familiar comfort of his own room, the soft glow of dawn filtering through the curtains.
He took a deep, shaky breath, the scent of lavender and polished wood filling his nostrils, a stark contrast to the acrid smell of demonic blood and burning energy, he had just experienced.
As he blinked, trying to clear his head, another system notification popped up, accompanied by a gentle chime.
[Ding]

[Congratulations for collecting your first Shard.]
[The curse on your body has been weakened.]
The words registered in his mind, but before he could fully process their meaning, a new sound cut through the silence.
"Young master!"
Ye Yang's head snapped towards the door just as it opened. His new maid, the woman with a kind face and neatly tied hair, stood there, a worried expression on her features.
Ye Yang remembered her. She was the same maid who had replaced Xu Li, his maid and childhood friend. He also recalled finding this very maid in a compromising situation with the Head Butler of the family, though he hadn't let that bother him at the time. "What happened?" he asked, noting her worried expression.
"Young master, the Grand Elder is looking for you. There are others too who wanted to have a talk with you, but you were nowhere to be found," the maid explained.
"Oh!" he nodded, understanding that it was time for the royal banquet. "Where is the Grand Elder right now?" he inquired.
"He might be in the clan meeting room with the Clan Head and your mother," the maid replied.
At that, Ye Yang got up and headed toward the clan meeting room, his mind already shifting from the brutal world he'd just left to the political landscape of his own.
As Ye Yang headed towards the clan meeting room, he saw the Grand Elder, Ye Tianxing, emerging with a smile. "Greetings, Grand Elder, I heard you were looking for me," Ye Yang said, approaching him.
Ye Tianxing seemed surprised to see Ye Yang but quickly recovered, a warm smile spreading across his face. "Yes, I was."
Ye Yang glanced towards the meeting room. "Let's go inside then."
"No need!" the Grand Elder interjected quickly, his voice a little too eager. Ye Yang sensed he was being rushed. "I mean, you can follow me. The Clan Head, your mother, and others are having a very important talk regarding clan matters."
