Oddity's Charm ( Omegaverse BL)

Chapter 45: A star

Zander's POV

He's a star.

Sure, I may have given him a little push, but this—all of this—is Ivan. His charm, his talent, his sheer presence.

I watch the interview unfold on my tablet, unable to tear my eyes away from the screen. It's a behind-the-scenes clip from one of his biggest photoshoots yet. The camera weaves through a throng of models before stopping on him—my beloved.

"And here we have one of the stars of the show," the interviewer says, her voice excited as she moves closer to Ivan.

At the sound of his name, Ivan Orlov, he turns, his green eyes sparkling under the studio lights.

"Hey," he says with a breathtaking smile.

I lean forward, my grip on the tablet tightening. His voice—smooth, confident, playful—wraps around me, making my chest ache.

The interviewer keeps talking, but I barely register her words. I'm mesmerized by the way he moves, the way his lips curve into that teasing smirk, the way he effortlessly commands attention.

And then—

The question.

"Your first reappearance in a really long time—you appeared on a Vale's arm, and not just any Vale, but Zander Vale. Care to tell us more about that? He's notorious for his extremely private life, after all."

My heart stops.

I inhale sharply, my entire body tensing as I wait—no, cling to the next words out of Ivan's mouth.

He hums thoughtfully, tilting his head just slightly. "Hmmmn. There's nothing to say really. We just had a date."

A date.

That's what he calls it.

I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding, my fingers gripping the edge of my desk.

"Really?! Is there a romance blooming there?" the interviewer presses.

My stomach clenches, anticipation coiling tight.

Then Ivan delivers the next blow with the grace of a professional executioner.

"Well, not exactly. The date went well, but we later found ourselves having opposing views, so the romance isn't exactly blooming."

My heart drops.

It shouldn't sting—but it does.

I already knew where we stood. I already knew I had to earn him back. But hearing him say it—publicly, so casually—like our connection was nothing but a fleeting encounter…

It fucking hurts.

"Oh my, how unfortunate. Looking for any romance elsewhere?"

I should stop watching. I should turn it off. I shouldn't subject myself to what comes next.

But I do.

I watch as Ivan shrugs, mischief dancing in his eyes.

"Sure, why not? It's going to be some hard shoes to fill, though. And I seem to have a Vale smitten with me. Oh well, may the best man win."

And then he winks.

I growl before I even realize it, my grip on the tablet so tight I hear a faint crack.

May the best man win?

I am the best man.

Does he think this is a game? Does he think I'll sit back and watch someone else try to take what's mine?

The interview continues, but I don't hear a damn word of it. The screen cuts to Ivan being called into his next shoot, his figure disappearing into the set.

The host smiles at the camera, wrapping up the segment.

"You heard that, folks! The stunning Ivan Orlov is back and open to romance! Any takers?"

No. No, there won't be any fucking takers.

I stand abruptly, shoving the tablet onto my desk. My jaw is tight, my hands clenched into fists as a storm brews inside me.

I tried patience. I tried distance. I tried giving him space.

And he dares to say that?

Fine.

If he wants to test me, then let the games begin.

I will win him back.

Not through manipulation. Not through force. But through sheer, undeniable truth.

He's mine, and I'll make sure he knows it. My whole mood deflates soon after though, I can't even meet him- well we'll see, who dares.
