Chapter 30: Chapter Thirty (A Strange Dream)
That night, Isla slept with tear-filled eyes, feeling despondent, while the rain continued to pour relentlessly, accompanied by strong winds that shook the corners of her room. Despite this, she did not wake up. Instead, her soul soared to her island, where Iris awaited her. She found herself calling out to her, and soon, Iris came rushing toward her, embracing her. They swam together as Iris held her tightly, ensuring that she wouldn't be swept away by a fierce wave.
But it was not the grip that caused George to scream. Isla snapped out of her trance and realized that George was lying beside her. She almost screamed and called for her aunt, but he silenced her with a hand over her mouth and quietly withdrew. Isla remained bewildered, staring into the nothingness, stunned by the shock. How could he dare to do this without knowing how she felt? He wasn't human—he was certainly an animal, driven solely by his base instincts without regard for her feelings. She quickly stood up and rushed to the bathroom, desperate to rid herself of the stench that had filled her room.
She filled the bathtub with warm water and soap, retreating inside to try and forget, even just a little, what had happened to her. She remembered how she once lived, and wondered where her fate now lay. Her tears mingled with the water. She stayed in that state for some time, until she felt the water growing cold. She got out of the tub, wrapped herself in a towel, her mind still scattered. Would she continue her life in this house, or would she leave?
It was clear that she could no longer stay in her aunt's house. She would convince the manager, with Daniel's help, to allow her to return to the island and continue her scientific research. There, she felt safe, far from the intrusion of others.
She got dressed, fixed her blonde hair, and applied a light touch of makeup. Her natural beauty didn't require much enhancement to shine, so how could anyone not fall in love with her at first sight? She went downstairs to find her aunt at the table with George. She kissed her aunt, but didn't even glance at him. She no longer wished to speak to him, nor even look at him. She hurriedly ate her breakfast and excused herself to go to work.
As usual, Daniel was waiting for her, and on their way to work, her mind was preoccupied. She wondered, How will she bring up her request with the manager? Will he agree to it now? Previously, he had told her it would happen, but the time wasn't right yet. She silently hoped that she would solve her problems, and that she could return to the island, to be with Iris and continue her research, fulfilling her father's dreams that had long been on hold.
