Chapter 65: Intrusive Thoughts!
Yuki was serious, staring directly into her brother's eyes. Her voice came out hesitant:
"Does this conversation need to happen now? I don't think this is the best time to talk about this…"
She looked away, trying to avoid the intensity of Ryan's gaze.
Ryan, however, didn't seem inclined to back down. His voice was firm as he replied:
"Yes, Yuki. This is exactly the right moment to talk about it."
He gently held her chin, guiding her eyes back to his. There was something relentless in the way he looked at her, but also warmth and determination.
"Yuki…" he began, his voice deep and brimming with confidence. Her heart raced, as if sensing something important was about to happen. "If there's one thing you never need to worry about in this life, it's what that family thinks. Especially that idiotic old fossil."
Yuki froze, looking at him hesitantly. Ryan's words echoed in her mind, but there were things he didn't know—things she couldn't just ignore.
"Onii…" she murmured, her voice fragile and full of doubt. "You don't need to worry about that. Your sister is stronger than you think."
She managed a smile, but Ryan instantly saw through it. It was forced, a mask she wore to avoid the conversation. When she began to stand, clearly trying to end the discussion, Ryan acted before she could escape.
He pulled her onto his lap and, in a sudden gesture, kissed her.
Yuki's world turned upside down. Her mind spiraled, unable to process what was happening, but her body reacted instinctively. She wrapped her arms around him, returning the kiss with intensity, their tongues intertwining as she held him tightly against her.
They stayed like that for some time, the silence broken only by the muffled sound of the TV in the background. When Ryan finally pulled away, Yuki looked at him with a mix of shock and confusion. Her face was completely red, and she seemed lost, as if her words had been stolen along with her breath.
Taking advantage of the quiet, Ryan smiled and continued:
"My dear sister, your brother is also more amazing than you imagine."
He leaned over to pick up the remote, leaving Yuki even more bewildered as he began flipping through channels, seemingly indifferent to the tension in the air.
Yuki, wide-eyed, tried to organize her thoughts but couldn't focus on anything other than what had just happened. Finally, she broke the silence, raising an eyebrow at Ryan.
"You kiss me and then start channel surfing? What are you trying to do, Onii-chan?"
Ryan smiled with his typical confident smugness. "Just watch this…"
Yuki looked at him, suspicious. "What…?"
Ryan didn't reply immediately. Instead, he switched to another channel, this time to a commercial. As the program started, he turned to her.
"Yuki, you said you trust me with all your heart, didn't you?"
She jumped slightly, her cheeks growing even redder, stumbling over her words as she tried to answer:
"Y-yes, but, you know, I—"
Before she could finish, Ryan placed a firm hand on her waist, making her let out a surprised squeak. He leaned closer to her face and declared with an enigmatic smile:
"Fresh juice or a stack of chocolate chip pancakes for the kids in no time."
As he said this, he switched the channel, and the commercial on the screen echoed his exact words.
She blinked, completely confused. Her expression alternated between disbelief and worry. "You're joking, right? Please tell me you haven't lost it…"
Still smiling smugly, Ryan spoke again: "You can't get lost in the forest if you don't enter the forest."
As he said this, he changed the channel to a cartoon, which immediately repeated the same line he had just said.
This time, Yuki grew more thoughtful as she stared at the TV. Then she spoke in a confused and drawn-out voice: "This is just a coincidence, right?"
Ryan changed the channel again, stopping on a popular live lottery program known for drawing numbers in real-time. It was famous for being fair, as the numbers were chosen live.
Before Yuki could say anything else, the TV announced with excitement:
"It is with great joy that we reveal the winner of 30 million yen!"
Ryan turned up the volume, keeping his eyes fixed on Yuki as he calmly said:
"The number is 94693756."
As soon as he finished speaking, the host opened the envelope and revealed the result:
"The winning number that made history is: 94693756."
Yuki froze, her mind struggling to process what had just happened. She looked at her brother, then at the TV, and back at him. Finally, she found her voice:
"O-Onii… how…?"
Ryan smiled, satisfied, as he spoke in unison with her: "Can you see the future?"
He pulled her into a hug, whispering in her ear: "In a way, yes, but it's not exactly the future I see."
Yuki's jaw dropped, her eyes fixed on her brother as she processed the revelation. After a few seconds of silence, she took a deep breath and exploded:
"KYAAAAAA~ MY BROTHER TURNED INTO AN ANIME PROTAGONIST!"
Her unexpected reaction made Ryan burst into genuine laughter, but before he could say anything, Yuki had already moved closer, grabbing his face with both hands, her words coming out in a rush:
"Can you literally go back in time!?"
With his cheeks almost squished by her hands, Ryan tried to respond in a calm tone:
"I just showed you what I can do, so—"
Before he could finish, Yuki interrupted him in an unconventional way. She kissed him passionately, her tongue intertwining with his as she wrapped her arms and legs around him. The intensity of her actions even surprised Ryan, and a single thought crossed his mind: Damn!
When she finally pulled away, a smug smile adorned her face. Her voice sounded satisfied:
"That's it! I can finally let my intrusive thoughts win! Now… go back in time."
Ryan raised an eyebrow, running his fingers casually through Yuki's hair as he replied, his voice laced with teasing:
"And why would I do that?"
Yuki blinked, pausing for a moment. Then, as if struck by lightning, her face turned crimson. She quickly got up from his lap, staring at the floor as she mumbled:
"It was just… just an intrusive thought!"
She shook her head, trying to organize her thoughts, then looked at him again.
"I can't believe it… My brother can control time! Where did you get this power?"
Suddenly, as if something had clicked in her mind, she grabbed his shirt collar, pulling him close. Her eyes sparkled with suspicion.
"Wait a minute! Are you really my brother, or were you isekai'd into his body!?"
Ryan raised his hands in a placating gesture, a playful smile on his lips.
"Calm down, crazy. I'm still me."
She pressed her forehead against his, narrowing her eyes as she spoke in an almost accusatory tone:
"Really? Because my Onii-chan never falls for my pranks!"
Ryan smiled like a cat that had just stolen a fish.
"This version can go back in time to see if it was a prank or not."
Hearing that, Yuki abruptly let go of him, causing him to fall back onto the couch. With her face burning red, she averted her gaze to the floor.
"It was a prank."
Ryan crossed his legs, seizing the moment to tease her further:
"But you responded."
She crossed her arms and retorted immediately:
"I already told you, they were intrusive thoughts!"
Ryan chuckled and, without warning, pulled her by the arm again.
"Sit down. I want to tell you more things."
Yuki initially obeyed, sitting next to him on the couch. But in an instant, she jumped onto his lap, her face still skeptical as she murmured:
"This is better…"
Ryan shrugged, accepting her position, and began to speak:
"I'm still your brother, Kuze Masachika. Of that, I'm absolutely certain. But… recently, I gained memories of a past life. Back then, I was called Ryan Gosting."
Yuki stifled a laugh, trying to cover her mouth with her hand.
"Sorry, sorry… But seriously, Ryan Gosting?!"
He raised an eyebrow.
"Is there something wrong with the my name?"
Swallowing her laughter and adopting a more serious tone, she replied:
"No, nothing… Continue."
Ryan gave her a suspicious look but continued:
Ryan shot her a suspicious glance but continued, "In that past life, I was completely different from who I am now. I was..."
Ryan hesitated for a second, but his mind filled in the gap with a defiant "fuck it."
Then, his voice emerged without a trace of hesitation, "I was something like a mobster, you know? and I didn't have you as a sister."
Dramatically, Yuki ran her fingers over her eyes, pretending to wipe away imaginary tears.
"What a terrible life…"
Ignoring her joke, Ryan continued:
"Anyway, I was summoned to a competition. The prize? Gaining the powers of a god. I had to face and kill other competitors. In the end… it was a tie."
Yuki raised her eyebrows, surprised.
"A tie? And you think that's normal? Also, I think you're oversimplifying this!"
He gestured with his hands as if it were obvious.
"Exactly. In the end, the winners were me and Yuno. Now… we're gods."
Yuki blinked several times, lost.
"Ah… I think I get it…"
But internally, her mind screamed: I don't get it at all!
