Chapter 891: 228. Reincarnation World and the Birth of Demigods (Important Background)
Thinking of this, Fang Ze couldn't help but recall the conversation he had with the Flower God earlier.
According to the Flower God's account, many years ago, she was born in a place called the Flower Kingdom.
In that place, all creatures possessed various extraordinary abilities, either as extraordinary flowers or plants. These extraordinary beings ranged from plant forms to semi-human and occasionally human-like forms, collectively known as Flower Spirits.
The Flower Kingdom, like the Real World, experienced the four seasons. In spring, all extraordinary beings would grow, bloom in summer, wither in fall, and hibernate in winter. Their houses were made of stacked withered petals, their clothes woven from vines or leaves, with rainbows adorning the sky all year round, and occasional refreshing dew falling, creating a friendly and blissful environment like a fairy-tale kingdom.
However, unlike the Real World, Flower Spirits were exclusively female, with no males among them. If they wished to reproduce, they only needed to take a part of themselves, plant it in the Holy Fields, and nurture it daily with Holy Spring water and Morning Dew. By the following spring, they could harvest a small Flower Spirit sharing their bloodline.
The Flower God was the sole daughter of the Flower Kingdom's queen. She was born when her mother was over 150 years old and lived happily with her mother until...
When she reached her teenage years, the world underwent a tremendous change. The domain shattered, and Outer Realm demigods invaded. Her mother, a war-fighting demigod, had to join the battle, so she put her into hibernation and sent her trusted aide to take her out of the Flower Kingdom to seek refuge with another neutral demigod.
Upon awakening from hibernation, she lost track of how much time had passed. She was taken by the demigod and the queen's aides to the Outer Realm, living in a mysterious place. Her mother and people, however, all perished in battle. Because of this, she gained eternal life, powerful talents, and demigod authority.
Later, after persistent questioning, the demigod caring for her and the trusted aides revealed to her what had happened over the years.
As they explained, after the world barrier was breached by Outer Realm demigods, the entire world quickly fell into collapse and destruction. Other than demigods and those protected by them, everything else, both matter and creatures, was obliterated.
Following the destruction, the world began to reforge itself, initiating a new cycle of reincarnation: a new species called humans started to proliferate in the rebirthed world, while beings from the old world became exiles, barely surviving in the Outer Realm.
Subsequently, the Flower God, with the assistance of her aides, grew, trained, and explored more about the Outer Realm.
Gradually, she learned more from other hidden places and other demigods.
In truth, the real world is like an egg: the smallest yolk inside is the Real World, ensconced in the center; the albumen outside the yolk is the Spirit Realm, considered the transcendent reflection of the Real World; the thin yet hard eggshell is the world barrier (Spirit Realm Mountain), protecting the Real World and Spirit Realm inside, isolating them from the creatures of the Outer Realm...
The Outer Realm, meanwhile, is that vast, boundless expanse beyond the eggshell...
It's said that each time a world shatters, fragments from the original world merge into the Outer Realm, causing it to expand over time. No one knows how vast the Outer Realm truly is: once a demigod conducted an experiment by flying outward for centuries and still never found the edge.
The limitless Outer Realm, though vast, resembles a wasteland: desolate, dark, and bleak. Only demigods' hidden territories, like scattered stars in the night, occasionally punctuate the darkness with a bit of vitality.
Thus, although demigods possess endless life, being trapped in the endless, empty Outer Realm feels like being tormented by infinite time.
For this reason, demigods long to return to the vibrant Real World. Beyond being their destroyed homeland, their mental discontent towards the new species claiming it, only the Real World holds the hope of changing everything: Godhood....
A legend circulates in the Outer Realm: the path of every demigod's extraordinary path is actually erroneous, which is why they are merely demigods, not True Gods.
And if just one demigod reaches true Godhood, it could elevate the world.
In doing so, the endless cycles of world reincarnation would end, reviving the world of the demigod who becomes a True God, even resurrecting creatures that existed in that previous world...
...
To be honest, Fang Ze was greatly shocked after hearing the Flower God's story. He always thought the "Outer Realm demigods" were invaders from outside this human world.
Instead, after listening to the Flower God's account, he discovered that they were originally creatures of this world!
Moreover, this world had been destroyed many times!
This was simply unbelievable!
Of course, Fang Ze did suspect that the Flower God might be deceiving him, but after verifying in the late-night investigation room, he confirmed she was telling the truth.
So unless the Flower God's aides deceived her, this was very likely the truth.
Thus, Fang Ze asked the Flower God for more details to ensure she wasn't misled.
He asked about the relationships between demigods, the nature of their vassals, and the birth of Disaster Creatures.
After hearing all the Flower God's explanations, Fang Ze not only completely believed it but also understood some peculiar aspects of the Real World and the strange practices of the Federation.....
According to the Flower God, the relationships among Outer Realm demigods are quite complex: because the world is constantly cycling through reincarnation, destroying and recreating over time, demigods are essentially in batches.
For instance, from the Flower God's era, 13 demigods survived. Their abilities and personalities varied greatly.
Those who didn't survive, some perished in world wars; some voluntarily gave up their lives; others were killed by outer demigods when fleeing to the Outer Realm...
As Fang Ze previously understood: unless a demigod's bloodline is severed, they aren't truly immortal. In a whole world, few demigods would sacrifice their kin, their descendants, just for immortality. So around world destruction, when demigod bloodlines were unbroken, there were heavy casualties.
Whereas in the Outer Realm, it's different. Maybe because the world was destroyed and kin extinct; perhaps for eternal life, they were forced to kill their kin; or perhaps this served as a rite of passage, only by becoming isolated would Outer Realm demigods accept them. Hence, most demigods were without descendants or kin but gained immortality.
This led to demigods in the Outer Realm not daring to marry or reproduce. Because the continuation of a bloodline means they would no longer be immortal.
