Chapter 66: Character Dive! 17.0



Hello all!

Welcome back to the gates of Enverdolmal!

I hope that this finds you well, as always.

I hope that you all have food and warm/cold air.

I hope that you have clean water and clothing.

I hope that you have somewhere safe to lay your head at night.

It's been just over 2 years folks, since this story started

This week the series passed 23K views in English and 16K in Spanish!

I can't thank you all enough for reading along and continuing to do so week after passing week. 

I am working on many things to do with the series, including the World map and some other projects that I am rather excited about.

Art that will give you an idea as to how the characters that you have come to love actually look!

I would like to compose them all and get a small, affordable coloring book out there for you all.

"Special Presentation: The last of the real ones. Part 1." 

Character: Kals Kajai.

Species: Jakarl. Jackal form Shifter. 

Class: Arcane Duelist.

Nation: Nanaka. South Suidelain.

Age: 24 HLS.

Weapon: Rapier forged of Sun-kissed Elven Silver.

- Willow vine Whip.

Origin:

Kals and Kahn were twins. Identical in nearly every way but their personalities, fashion sense, and temperament. 

While Kals was a stoic and grounded realist, her slightly older brother was rather whimsical and quixotic. They were both inseparable siblings and the best of friends. One warm and relaxed night and before anyone could react to what was happening, their dorpie was attacked and laid waste by a swift and raging wolf-like monster...

One that had been ravaging the land abroad for quite some time before it found its way South.

One that would inevitably be drawn to their jackal-like people.

Kals and her brother were initially the very last of their clan before Kahn succumbed to the energies that he had sustained in the attack.

As Jakarls are extremely well studied in the lives and history of their ancestors, they had perfected the ability to transfer their bloodline abilities to one another at their moment of death. In the chaos of the attack nearly 80% of Kals clans abilities would be lost along with those who once wielded them. 

She would absorb what remained, what she could. Just hardly a dozen or so of her people's most treasured secrets and Arcane powers. These along with those of her brother would be sealed within and gifted to her.

But not without consequence...

Along and without direction, Kals Kahn -as she now goes as- would decide to travel North to Naeri, and the Grounds of Garth Verlore. 

Her plan? 

To seek out the Ground known as Crowhaven of the Shifters.

She would study and hone her newly acquired abilities and master her Shifting, but first...

She vowed to avenge her people.

She vowed to hunt down and slay that monster that she had only heard called "The Beast"

She would become a mercenary in order to track and study him until the time was right.

Until she found the courage to face and lay the thing low. 

Abilities:

- Jackal form, Shifter: Her people's totem is the Jackal. When shape-shifting she takes the form of said creature, adapting also its natural physical traits on top of her own. 

Her Strength, Agility, Hearing, Smelling, Sight and Speed are dramatically enhanced while she can hold this form. The time that she can hold her beastial form is based on the amount of Aether that she can denote to the form. Some Jakarl have deeper and more refined Aether pools that allow them not only more time in their beastial form, but a deeper connection to that form as well.

- Aetheral Duplication: Can create solid-Aether clones that are fully autonomous. These clones can absorb just a forth of the level of damage that Kals can, but they are just as skilled in combat as she is. 

- Sticker Volly: Unleash rapid thrust attacks that overwhelm and perforate her opponents. 

- Low Arcane magic. Inherited.

- High Arcane magic. Inherited.

- Can summon and manipulate constructs forged of her own Aether. 

- Excellent Duelist. 

Stats:

Strength: 6.5/10.

Stamina: 9.10.

Agility: 8.5/10.

Dexterity: 8.5/10.

Intellect: 8/10.

Aether: 6.5/10.

Resilience: 5.5/10.

Resistance: High Magic: 7.5/10.

Low Magic: 8.5/10.

Character: Kahn Kadja.

Species: Jakarl. Jackal form Shifter. 

Class: Illusionist/Geo Mage.

Nation: Nanaka. South Suidelain.

Age: 24 HLS.

Weapon: Soul Crest: This allows Kahn to summon forth the spirits of his ancestors for both knowledge and combat assistance. 

- Nanakah War Drum with an affinity for the Wind and Earth elements. 

Origin:

Kahn Kadja was the younger brother to Kals Kajai. 

Born and raised out on the high dunes, he was the wilder and more adventurous of the two. While Kals would devote countless hours to her studies, Kahn was more likely to be out and about in his Jackal form, hunting or "practicing" his Illusionist abilities on the locals of Sout just for the fun of it. 

Kahn was one of the last of his Clan alongside his sister after the Werewolf known as The Beast tore their small dorpie asunder, but he later succumb to wounds that he had sustained in the attack. 

His Bloodline ability allowed him to cast visual and mental hexes that would grant him temporary control over his opponent's or let him alter their thoughts for a time. 

His studies of music and rhythms was also his choice of combat stylization. While in his humanoid bipedal form he would utilize a drum to manipulate Earth magics and a flute that allowed manipulation of the Wind.

Abilities:

- Jackal form, Shifter: His people's totem is the Jackal. When shape-shifting she takes the form of said creature, adapting also its natural physical traits on top of his own.

His Strength, Agility, Hearing, Smelling, Sight and Speed are dramatically enhanced while he can hold this form. Unlike his sister, Kahn can hold his Jackal form for extended periods of time due to it being his "First Shape." Being born in his canin form gave him the natural know-how and thus it became that much easier for him to shift when needed. 

- Can summon Jackarl souls of the dead to aid in combat of assist when knowledge is needed.

- Mind control and manipulation via his Illusions. 

- Low/High magic: Earth manipulation

- Low magic: Wind manipulation. 

Stats:

Strength: 6.5/10.

Stamina: 10/10.

Agility: 7.5/10.

Dexterity: 6.5/10.

Intellect: 6.5/10.

Aether: 9.5/10.

Resilience: 8.5/10.

Resistance: High Magic: 6.5/10.

Low Magic: 7.5/10.
