Chapter 12: Chapter 12
"Damn the king, if he hadn't used 'dancing powder,' how could we have fallen to this point!"
[God's Judgment!]
Koza was shocked. Why did the whole world suddenly light up? You know, it's night now!
He subconsciously followed the light and saw a lightning column falling from the sky, which kept magnifying in his eyes.
"How beautiful..."
Boom!
The huge lightning and roar attracted the attention of all the rebels. They looked at the huge pit left by the disappearance of the lightning column in horror, stunned!
"All the rebels, come out!"
Just then, an extremely indifferent voice came from the sky.
Everyone looked up and saw a spaceship slowly descending.
"That's... Princess Vivi!"
"Princess Vivi?! How could she come here!"
"Is she here to kill us..."
Some rebels exclaimed, others whispered, but without exception, their eyes were firmly fixed on her.
"Everyone, I am Nefertari Vivi, the princess of this country."
"The culprit of the drought in Alabasta, the Seven Warlords of the Sea, Crocodile, has surrendered. Rain will soon fall, and everyone will no longer lack water resources!"
The people below murmured in disbelief, their eyes filled with distrust.
Seeing this, Vivi continued shouting loudly:
"Who is the leader here?"
The rebels below began to stir.
"Where is the leader?"
"I don't know..."
"With such a big commotion, why can't I see Koza? Where did he go?"
"Could it be..."
Some smart rebels glanced toward the huge pit nearby. The air smelled scorched, but they dared not voice their guesses.
Koza's death was, of course, intentional by Ethan. How could his God's Judgment miss?
As the rebel leader, Koza had begun organizing large-scale protests as soon as the drought worsened. Such a rebellious figure was an extremely unstable factor for the entire country. Others could live, but he, who intended rebellion, had to die.
"If the leader is not here, choose a representative to speak!"
Ethan's faint voice echoed, and everyone felt a chill in their hearts, afraid to disobey.
Soon, the rebels elected Farafra as a representative, though he looked a little uneasy.
"Princess Vivi, isn't Crocodile a hero of the country? How could he be the cause of the drought?"
"He secretly used 'dancing powder' to curse our country. I discovered this after I joined his forces undercover."
"This..." Farafra was at a loss, unable to convince the rebels with just one person's testimony.
"Hmph, I don't have time to argue. If Vivi hadn't pleaded with me, I wouldn't let you unstable elements survive."
"Remember, it was Vivi who gave you a chance to live!"
[Of course, Ethan only thought this in his mind and didn't say it out loud.]
As his words fell, lightning raged in the sky, and a thunder dragon roared towards the crowd, stopping just before it reached them, then returning to the sky.
The rebels, numbed by the lightning, dared not move. How could human power compete with the terrifying power of lightning?
Finally, they understood that if Ethan had wanted to kill them, he only needed to wave his hand.
"Lord Thunder! Princess Vivi! We believe you! But..." Farafra gritted his teeth and spoke boldly:
"Can it rain for us now? We haven't had fresh water for so long..."
"I understand your desire. Let's make it rain here for a while."
"I'll speak to my father when I return today. For the next month, Alabasta will be covered with clouds, ensuring rain for all."
Vivi agreed to their request with a smile.
Seeing this, Ethan gathered some clouds, and the thunder dragon disappeared into them. Thunder roared, and soon, the rebels were caught in heavy rain.
"Princess Vivi!! Lord Thunder!"
The rebels expressed their gratitude one after another. As the saying goes, whoever gives you milk is your benefactor. Koza? Barely remembered!
Why rebel when they could live in peace and stability? Just like that, the rebel army dissolved back into civilians.
Vivi and Ethan had played good cop and bad cop, one offering rewards and the other delivering threats. The rebels surrendered in an instant.
One reason they visited the rebel base camp was for Vivi's peace of mind.
Another reason was that, in Ethan's view, Alabasta was now his possession. The rebels were his future labor force, contributors to his future country, so it was better to keep them alive and only remove the main instigators.
...
The royal capital, Alubarna, the palace.
The night was serene. Vivi returned to the palace to see Cobra first.
Cobra was holding a document, his face worried as he thought about his daughter going abroad.
"Father!"
Everyone in the palace recognized Princess Vivi. She and Ethan moved unhindered through the palace halls until they reached Cobra.
Cobra looked up and saw Vivi's happy expression. Before he could smile, he noticed her holding hands with a young man, the closeness between them undeniable.
"Vivi, you still remember to come back!" Cobra reacted, pretending to be stern.
"Father, the drought's cause has been resolved. It was Crocodile's doing." Vivi wasn't offended, knowing she'd been stubborn by going abroad.
"What!? So it was him..."
Cobra trusted Vivi's words, but his focus quickly shifted.
"And who is this..."
"He's someone I met while undercover, Ethan, my true love. We've confessed to each other and are now together."
Vivi smiled shyly, holding Ethan's hand tightly and leaning slightly against him.
She didn't want to worry Cobra with the details of their contract; otherwise, he'd surely be furious.
"This..."
Cobra was taken aback. Although he could see the love in Vivi's eyes, he felt uneasy at the sudden news.
But as an experienced king, he composed himself. He suspected there was more to this, but knowing that Ikalem would return with answers, he chose not to press further.
