Chapter 31: Chapter 31
In a short while, Makino finished mixing the wine and presented it to Ethan. Ethan raised his glass, drank it, and praised her:
"Makino, the wine you mix is really good. Be my Goddess!"
"Goddess?"
Makino was stunned. Seeing that he was gentle and elegant, he must be a rich man, but his behavior and words were extremely overbearing. She smiled and responded:
"Sir, are you kidding? I'm just an ordinary woman from a small village. Don't tease me. This glass of wine is for you."
"Do you think I'm kidding?"
Ethan waved his hand back, and the villagers in the bar were lifted by the floating power and gently placed outside the bar.
"Decide! Makino, think carefully; their life and death are in your hands."
Makino bit her lip tightly, blinking pitifully, and clutched the hem of her skirt with both hands.
[Goddess... life and death of everyone... Oh, I heard that Mr. Garp is back. Will he be able to save me in time...]
Afraid the other party would become unpredictable and hurt her, she dared not delay and closed her eyes, lowered her head, and responded in a trembling voice.
"My lord, I... I am willing to be your Goddess..."
Makino, still too kind, accepted her fate.
"A wise choice."
Ethan frowned, as his observation Haki picked up on a fast-approaching figure.
"It's a pity Garp came too quickly; otherwise, I could have had another glass of wine. Never mind. I'll let Makino make as much as I want when we're back."
He clenched his right hand, and the entire bar, along with the surrounding land, rose into the sky.
"Ah~"
Makino cried out, losing her balance in a panic, but Ethan easily supported her as she stumbled forward.
"Thunder Kid, let go of Makino!"
Garp's roar reached the sky as he uprooted a large tree and hurled it upwards, though he aimed carefully to avoid hurting Makino.
"Fist Bone · Meteorite!"
"God's Judgment!"
Ethan released a thunderous strike, and with a wave of his hand, kept Makino steady within the floating tavern as it soared skyward.
God's Judgment obliterated the tree, but Garp blocked it with his hand, moving quickly to dodge its heat.
Before Garp could shake off the remaining heat, Ethan appeared behind him in a flash of lightning.
"Have you ever been struck by lightning?"
The deep voice echoed in Garp's ears as he felt a sharp pain in his back, driven into the ground with such force that Windmill Village seemed to shake.
A strong wind blew, dispersing the dust, and Garp emerged with a grim expression, looking at the tavern disappearing into the sky, cursing his lateness.
"It's really hot, Thunder Kid!"
Garp, shaking off the remains of God's Judgment, looked slightly frustrated.
He had no desire to continue the fight; the opponent's speed was beyond him, and the Thunder Kid didn't seem cruel. All he could do now was hope Ethan would treat Makino well.
"Did you come all the way from the Grand Line to the East Blue just to kidnap Makino?"
Ethan remained silent. Though old, Garp's powerful Armament Haki was leagues above that of the Golden Lion.
Unfortunately, in his later years, Garp would meet his fate when he fought the Blackbeard Pirates alone to save Coby.
Ethan suspected he'd need to use his awakened purple-black lightning to pierce Garp's defense.
Garp, noticing Ethan's silence, remembered Sengoku's instructions and casually picked his nose.
"Kid, you wouldn't join that worthless organization, the Seven Warlords of the Sea, would you? Think of a better title. I'll tell Sengoku so he can label you accordingly—otherwise, the world might just know you as 'Thunder Kid'!"
With that, Garp pulled out a Den Den Mushi and began dialing.
Ethan smirked, realizing the navy hadn't issued a bounty for him simply because they hadn't identified him. If they gave him an embarrassing name, it would become his permanent "black history."
"Bulu Bulu~ Boga~"
"Hey! Garp!"
"Warring States! I ran into Thunder Kid, but he's too fast to catch, and I got burned by his lightning. I'll need a few extra months of vacation~"
"What? He's in the East Blue!?" Sengoku ignored Garp's sarcasm.
"God Ethan—that's my real name, Sengoku. I'm not some lowly pirate, so don't waste a title like 'Shichibukai' on me."
"God!? Seriously?" Sengoku and Garp exclaimed in unison.
"Don't assume you're the strongest just because you ate the most powerful Logia fruit," Garp teased, then suddenly snored, a bubble appearing at his nose, causing Ethan to suppress a laugh.
Just as Ethan considered shocking him back awake, the Den Den Mushi imitated Sengoku's expression vividly.
"You're not a pirate? Then what about kidnapping Navy Colonel Tina? That's hardly noble behavior. The World Government wants to recruit you, but I'll make sure they know you refused Shichibukai status."
"You're not qualified to judge me. In my eyes, I'm liberating her, freeing her from the Celestial Dragons' chains and elevating her to my Divine Consort!"
"You..." Sengoku was left speechless, recognizing the unpleasant truth about the Navy's servitude.
Ethan continued. "I heard you take nickname requests? Make it 'Divine Emperor' on the bounty order and set it at 5 billion berries."
"Bold request! You know the Four Emperors won't rest until you're defeated if that name circulates."
"Then let them come. Isn't that exactly what you want?"
The Den Den Mushi's mouth hung open in shock as Sengoku fell silent, likely processing the audacious name request.
After a few moments, Sengoku spoke again, his tone now gentler.
"Tina... is she okay? Her teacher Zephyr is worried."
"Don't worry. Tina's well taken care of—next year, Zephyr might even get to see our child. I'll send you an invite to the full moon banquet."
"Fine, I'll meet your bounty demands, but don't expect 5 billion berries. Prepare to be hunted by the Four Emperors!"
Sengoku laughed bitterly before hanging up.
"Poga~"
Boom~
The bubble burst, and Garp woke up to the sound of the disconnected call.
