Chapter 17: Ch.017 Killing the Arlong Pirates.
"Your lack of knowledge regarding the devil fruit's power is inconsequential. Understand this: I'm a God, and eliminating the merfolk would be trivial."
Nojiko gave a simple nod.
She paused, recognizing this as a pivotal moment in her life.
She had to believe the mysterious man in front of her and agree to his terms; otherwise, Nami would be devastated after giving Arlong 100 million Berry.
With this in mind, she looked at James with bright eyes and answered.
"I'm sorry ... I can't decide for Nami. But I'll do my best to convince her of you. If you are willing, I can serve as your divine concubine." The words escaped her lips, yet a blush of shame warmed her cheeks.
"Oh, I see."
Nojiko's spirits soared upon hearing it.
With a chuckle of "Alright then!", James embraced her. Lightning cracked as she cried out, and suddenly they were at Arlong Park.
Nojiko was astonished by his power, but then she heard his overbearing voice. "Watch how these repulsive Fish-Men meet their end."
With no further ado, he commenced the cold-blooded killing.
"Who is it!?"
"Damn human!"
"Ah!!!"
"That's Nojiko, Nami's sister! I know her!"
"..."
The Fish-Men in the field were no match for James, who slaughtered them all.
They were reduced to ashes by the intense lightning strike, silenced before they could speak.
"Is this a dream…?", Nojiko couldn't believe what she was seeing.
She wished a Marine would save them; her adopted mom was a Marine officer, after all.
She never thought someone could be so powerful.
Nope, he was a god.
He was the god in her eyes, sent to save her and Nami from their plight.
Witnessing his comrades fall, Hatchan, one of the Fish-Man, unleashed his most powerful sword technique in a fit of rage.
"Six Swords Style: Waltz of the Six Swords!"
Retribution came in the form of a thunderclap.
"why...?"
Too weak to even register in James's mind, Hatchan was obliterated by the thunderous attack, as James's Lightning automatically seeking its target with deadly precision.
At this time, Arlong was disturbed by the sharp, piercing screams and the booming thunder that rattled the windows, prompting him to walk out of the house.
The tragic scene on the field—a horrifying tableau of carnage—made him grit his teeth; his furious shout, "Where did you come from, lowly human…", filled the air with angry energy.
James sneered.
'What a foolish and clueless fish-man; unlike his insightful half-sister, Madam Shyarly, he lacked wisdom and understanding.'
"Ignorance can make one too cocky!"
He clenched his fist in the air. Quickly, a small thread of lightning formed. A light flick of his wrist sent it speeding towards Arlong.
⚡1,000,000 Volt - Vari⚡
"Uh..."
Arlong's body twitched uncontrollably under the agony of the electric shock.
His signature weapon, the great serrated "Kiribachi," also fell to the ground.
He was on the verge of fainting when the lightning cleared, washing over him with relief.
Kneeling, he made himself look at James, his expression threatening and sinister.
"Human! My oldest brother is one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea—Knight of the Seas, Jinbe! You'll regret attacking me; think about it!
"Hahaha" James laughed, he couldn't have cared less.
"Go ahead and rest in peace, Arlong. I'll make sure your sister Shyarly is well looked after and lives happily with me."
"You!" Hearing that, Arlong's eyes went wide. He was completely shocked. How did that guy know his sister?
He had no time to think it over.
Seeing the other party's hand formed like a gun, as if ready to fire, he yelled in helpless, furious rage.
"Fish-men are nobler than humans!"
⚡Lightning Gun⚡
The next moment, a sharp electric light, crackling and bright, burst from James's fingertips, instantly piercing Arlong's head, ending his life and sending him to meet the legendary fish-man, Fisher Tiger.
The field was littered with the still forms of fish-men, some clearly dead, others having escaped this place.
Seizing the opportunity presented by James's battle with Arlong, several arrogant fish-men leaped into the sea to escape, unaware of water's vastly superior electrical conductivity compared to air.
⚡20,000,000 Volt - Vari (Electrical Discharge)⚡
Soon, the fish-men, their bodies convulsing from the electric current, floated belly-up to the surface, their lifeless eyes staring blankly.
Even Momoo, the massive sea beast, was unable to withstand the powerful electric current that surged through the water, its immense body convulsing before falling still.
Perhaps, once discovered, the villagers of Cocoyasi will find the sea beast Momoo to be a delicious addition to their meals, savoring its unique taste and texture.
Turning his head, James saw Nojiko's silent tears, her shoulders shaking slightly.
Witnessing the culprit who killed her adoptive mother being tortured to death in front of her brought silent tears of relief and satisfaction to her.
She was quiet, maybe because she didn't want to upset him.
Comforting her, he gently stroked Nojiko's sky-blue hair and whispered, "It's alright to cry. Don't worry about me."
Nojiko's eyes welled with grateful tears, and she cried out.
"Bellmère! Did you see? Arlong… he's finally dead!"
"Nami! You don't need to resort to thievery and humiliation at sea for our sake! We are free!"
Remembering Captain Mouse was still a problem, James prompted her when her crying subsided.
This isn't over; another person is also pulling the strings!"
"Ah?" Nojiko was shocked and immediately asked, "Who is it?"
"It's Captain Nezumi of the 16th Marine Branch. He's secretly working with Arlong, preventing news of the island's sufferings from reaching others."
"Don't worry, I know where he is."
With a hand raised towards the 16th Marine Branch, James, eyes on Nezumi, unleashed a massive bolt of lightning that pierced the sky.
⚡God's Judgment⚡
Such a loud clap of thunder echoed that even Cocosia Village heard a muted version of the sound.
It's certain Captain Nezumi is now dead; a gaping chasm now stands where his building once was. A few Marine officers outside the building were lucky to survive.
[A/N: James's observation Haki can detect far away, and the Cocosia Village is not big. Not long after Nami returned in One Piece, Captain Nezumi rushed to the scene to dig up her treasure. It can be imagined that the 16th Marine Branch is close to the Cocosia Village.]
"Let's go; I'll return you to your residence." James extended his hand towards her.
"Yes," Nojiko replied instinctively, then realized she hadn't shared the good news with the villagers.
"I... I'll go inform the villagers. They still don't know the fish-men are dead."
"There's no need for that. Wouldn't it be a bigger surprise if they figured it out on their own?", James preferred not to become involved with the weeping and shouting crowd when they finally found out.
"That's right..."
Nojiko thought his words made sense and didn't dare to contradict him.
Startled by his outstretched hand, she quickly grabbed it. Satisfied, James took her home, in a flash of lightning.
Location: Cocoyasi Village, Nami's home.
"Nojiko, now, can you tell me where Nami is?"
[That's all for now]
