One Piece : Deathless Surgeon

Chapter 2: 2- Scary New World

Thud...

I fell down in a whole new world. Well, it seems that I am in a jungle, and in front of me is a heart-shaped fruit, which, undoubtedly, is the Ope Ope no Mi. I felt my body, and I felt young... Well, this was me at 25, but yeah, no superpowers or anything like that—definitely no different from ordinary humans. And it multiplied my resolve.

I took the Ope Ope no Mi and ate half of it in a bite.

It was, without a doubt, the most revolting thing I had ever eaten. I gulped it down and proceeded to puke, but the magic was done. A bunch of information about the Ope Ope no Mi came to my mind. It is said that the power of the Devil Fruit depends upon the user—it is only limited by imagination. So, let's see how far my imagination can take me.

The Ope Ope no Mi was undoubtedly the best fruit for me since I was a doctor. With my immortality, there would certainly come a point where the people I come to care about would grow old and die. The Ope Ope no Mi is the solution to that. I can perform the immortality surgery on them, which has the cost of the life of the user, but since I would resurrect, no worries for me there.

And the powers of the Ope Ope no Mi were very versatile. Beyond that, I also knew that my Earth body could not do anything in this world—I would need to change my physique, and the Operation Fruit may be able to help me with that. I could not take my risks with Zoan, since there is a risk of losing my mind and turning into an animal while awakening. Since turning into a mindless beast doesn't count as death, I might have to spend eternity like an animal that way.

So, the Ope Ope no Mi was the best I could think of. And on a personal basis, I prefer Paramecia more than Logia or Zoan. Mythical Zoans or top-level Logia are great, but nothing beats top-level Paramecia.

And with the Ope Ope no Mi, the World Government definitely won't imprison me for life. They want immortality surgeries, and with me being an immortal and eating the Ope Ope no Mi, I will be its only user from now on. So they might train me, torture me, but they won't seal me away... Well, it's still scary, but I will grow stronger soon.

With my Devil Fruit already eaten, it was time for me to check myself and my surroundings. Well, my body was my own—just younger—so no strange feeling there. Hmmm, I had a sword on me. How considerate of God. It's only an ordinary one, though.

Since I decided to explore, I drew my sword and started moving on full alert.

---

Three hours later...

Yeah, I am done for. Totally doomed.

I am on an uninhabited island, and I ate a Devil Fruit, so I am basically stuck here. There are a lot of animals here, though, which is both good and bad.

I have food, which is a plus.

I am probably weaker than any beast on the island, which is the sad part. I may very well just become their food instead. And worse, I would be eaten alive due to my immortality.

No, no. I can't be this pessimistic. There's still hope.

Law just ate the Ope Ope no Mi and cured his disease. I, who have studied biology my entire lifetime, must be able to enhance my body.

So...

"ROOM!"

The sphere surrounded me, and with focus, I could feel my body.

Alright, I am not going to lie—this is awesome.

I can feel everything about my body—heck, even some things which were previously considered mysteries by science could be solved by this. And I tried to alter my body next...

And it worked.

My body is now perfection, at least according to Earth standards. I can run like Usain Bolt, am flexible like Bruce Lee, strong like Mike Tyson. But yeah, that was it. I am still amongst the weakest on this island.

Welp, at least I am a bit stronger.

But this gives me an idea—until I encounter humans of this world and study and copy their potential, physical training is useless for me. I am a little wary of using animal genes; it might have adverse effects. The ones I copy need to be, at the very least, humanoid species.

But it is not like I have given up hope. No, sir. If brawls don't work, I will just work on my Devil Fruit.

Well, Law can be used as a template, but currently, I have a few more ideas. First is to develop more towards escaping and scanning others without them finding out. If it is developed to the ultimate, maybe one day, I could copy Big Mom's potential. After all, no matter what, she is still a biological being, and biological beings follow a similar structure style.

Why can't I change my genes to be like hers with the ultimate Devil Fruit?

I think this is how this Devil Fruit should be used.

Law wasted it.

Why operate on others when you can operate on yourself first?

As for Big Mom's diseases, which I might copy along with her genes—well, as it happens, I am the ultimate doctor now. I believe I can cure it.

With my newfound dedication, I started developing my Devil Fruit.

In just a few hours, I was already able to teleport by switching between objects inside my room. But as it happens, apparently, Devil Fruits run on our energy. So now, I was both tired and hungry.

Well, I should have collected food and water first... Well, you can't blame me for not knowing much about wildlife survival. Never even been hiking or camping...

But with my Devil Fruit, I believed I could manage something.

I collected a bunch of stones and went to the seashore.

Well, now is the time to try—

"ROOM!"

And teleport.

Yup. I exchanged the rocks with small fishes in the shallow waters.

Easy food.

Now I just have to collect some branches and start a fire...

Wait.

Start a fire...

How the fuck am I supposed to do that?

Should I strike stones against each other like early humans did? Would that even work?

Haah...

Wait—wasn't there a move of Law that produced electric shots? I remember studying that thunder causes fire. Maybe I could try that.

Well, in my inexperience, I just went and collected some branches from the nearest tree I could find. Well, it wasn't exactly dry wood, but I was about to use my Devil Fruit to light the fire, so my chances weren't zero at the very least.

Hmmm... I forgot the original name of the attack... Welp, I don't need to scream names now, do I? It is not a fight.

So yeah, after a few dozen trials and errors, I was able to start a fire.

Well, the food was bland—salted from the sea, but no other flavor. But my hunger took me through it.

Now was the time to sleep.

I made a comfortable place with leaves. Well, not exactly comfortable per se, but better than sleeping on the ground. I lit a fire close by and tucked in for sleep.

Hmmm... My isekai has been off to a better start than I had initially expected.

I can already see myself removing the mark on the back of Boa Hancock with my Ope Ope no Mi, marrying her, and living peacefully...

Well, my dreams were shattered quickly.

I felt a sharp pain from the back of my neck, from my thighs and stomach.

I woke with a scream.

As I opened my eyes, I saw several figures surrounding me...

A pack of wolves.

And I was the prey.

Well, they had already bitten me in three places, and with my neck in between their jaws...

There was no point in struggling...

I was already screwed...
