Chapter 46: Fear Him -44 (Bonus)
"So strong! Is Carina's friend really this powerful?!"
This was Admiral Krieg, whose reputation in the East Blue was second only to Arlong's!
Nami felt as if a storm had erupted in her heart. She couldn't help but wonder, "Am I still dreaming?"
As for Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji, they had all realized by now—Mikita was no ordinary person.
Sanji, in particular, finally understood why Chef Zeff had treated this group with such deep respect.
Even he had secretly felt a hint of fear. He hadn't expected to provoke a group so terrifying.
Mikita returned to her seat, enjoying the admiring gazes around her. She clearly relished being the center of attention.
She lifted her chin with pride and flaunted her arrogance in front of her two younger sisters, Vivi and Carina:
"So? Not bad, right? Your sister's strength isn't anything to scoff at.
I'm a combat genius with a bounty of 7.5 million since my youth. Taking down this loudmouth from the East Blue? Child's play."
Immediately, the weaker sisters, Vivi and Carina, chimed in with praise:
"You're amazing, Sister Mikita! No wonder you used to be a top agent in Baroque Works."
"Yeah, I'm starting to admire you for real!"
Even Robin couldn't hide her appreciation and said,
"Impressive, Vice President."
"Yahaha! I'll gladly accept your compliments!" Mikita laughed proudly.
If Mikita were a Saiyan, her tail would've been waving triumphantly in the air right now.
But Hina, who couldn't tolerate such boastfulness in front of her, intervened with a calm yet sharp tone:
"Hmph. Don't forget who trained you all this time.
If not for Hina's training, you wouldn't have dropped Krieg so easily."
Mikita pouted slightly at the ruined mood but didn't deny the truth.
She was fully aware that the Marine's training methods were truly exceptional—worthy of their name that had dominated the seas for years.
While the girls exchanged banter and laughter, none of the other guests dared approach them.
They returned quietly to their seats, sneaking glances from the corners of their eyes.
Even the Straw Hat Pirates weren't an exception.
Once everyone had sat down, Usopp leaned over to Nami and whispered:
"Nami, what's the deal between you and that purple-haired woman?
If there's still hope for peace, I suggest you apologize right now.
You saw what her friend did... If she wants revenge, we're doomed!"
Already anxious, Nami exploded in anger when she heard Usopp suggest apologizing to "the fox girl".
She slapped him across the face and stubbornly said:
"Don't even think about it! Even if I die, I'll never apologize to that girl!"
Usopp, who fell to the ground covering his face, stood up furiously and shouted:
"Fine! I was just trying to help you.
Don't forget what happened to Krieg!"
But surprisingly, Zoro stepped in this time and said seriously:
"As much as I hate to admit it, Usopp's right this time.
If there's no real grudge between you two, it's better to apologize.
And don't forget—the mysterious man beside her hasn't even moved yet."
At the mention of Peter, the three of them instinctively looked in his direction.
They were stunned to see him wiping his mouth with a napkin and standing up.
"He… He's standing?! Is he going to attack us?!"
Usopp was terrified. His tongue practically fell out in fear as he hid behind Zoro, peeking from behind him.
Nami and Zoro both tensed up and looked around for Luffy.
In moments of danger, it's always comforting to have your captain nearby.
But Luffy and Sanji were busy talking with Gin.
In front of his fallen captain—the man who had betrayed him and nearly got Sanji killed—Gin looked consumed by a flood of conflicting emotions.
Though he wanted to avenge his captain, the woman's overwhelming power had shaken him.
He no longer had the courage to fight back.
At that moment, Sanji stepped forward and tossed him a large bag of food:
"Take this and leave quickly.
You don't want to get involved with these people."
"Mr. Sanji!"
Gin hadn't expected such kindness from the very man he had betrayed.
Overwhelmed with shame, tears streamed down his face as he lowered his head, unable to look at him.
Sanji exhaled smoke from his cigarette, saying nothing.
Then he turned to Luffy and said:
"Take Miss Nami and the others and get out of here fast.
It won't be safe if you stay too long."
But Luffy didn't respond. He stared at Krieg's corpse and murmured:
"I won't die so easily."
"What did you say?" Sanji asked, unable to catch it clearly.
Luffy answered louder:
"I'll never die until I become King of the Pirates and fulfill my dreams with my crew… Ah!!"
Suddenly, without warning, Luffy was slapped hard by Peter, sending him flying.
"I don't care what kind of thieves you are…
Just get out of my way."
And with that, Peter walked out of the restaurant, leaving everyone in stunned silence.
He didn't even glance at Krieg's corpse, or at Sanji, or Gin—
not even at Luffy.
Luffy, who had been preparing one of his usual passionate speeches,
was completely thrown off by the slap.
After a struggle to pull his head out of the wall, he stood up angrily:
"That guy attacked me out of nowhere!
I've gotta return the favor!"
His entire left cheek was swollen, but that didn't stop him from trying to chase Peter down.
Fortunately, Usopp and Nami leapt at him with lightning speed, grabbing him from both sides to hold him back.
Usopp: "Please, Captain! Don't provoke him!"
Nami: "Yeah! I'm still too young to die!"
"Let go of me! I'm gonna teach him a lesson!" Luffy shouted, struggling to break free.
Meanwhile, Zoro sighed helplessly, looked away from the scene,
and then calmly followed in the direction Peter had gone.
Robin and the other girls exchanged glances, then quietly followed his footsteps as well.
