Chapter 51: Old Man, Just You Wait
On the deck, besides the piled-up stones, a large crowd had gathered, instantly occupying half of the previously empty space.
"Fire! Move faster, fire!!"
Akin commanded the pirates on the ship, moving cannonballs at the side of the ship, firing them at the spot where Garp had fallen, trying to prevent him from getting up.
Boom! Just then, the Black Ship shook violently, and a cloud of black mist exploded from the left side of the ship.
That was a cannonball!
Whoosh! The Doghead Warship, missing one of its masts, was now sailing over, its main cannon belching smoke as it fired a barrage of cannonballs straight towards the deck.
Once the cannonballs landed, those who had just managed to get on board would likely be blown away.
Although this ship could withstand cannonballs, with so many of them, everyone knew what could happen, especially if they landed on the deck. If they ignited the ship's ammunition, it would be a real disaster.
"Block it!"
One cannonball came in fiercely, just as it was about to smash down on the deck, a figure quickly jumped onto the ship's railing, firmly catching the incoming cannonball.
Boom! The explosion sent a gust of wind blowing outwards, and as the black mist dissipated, Paru's silhouette appeared on the railing.
He turned his head, flicked the crescent-shaped tuft of hair on his forehead, grinned with shining teeth, and gave a thumbs up to everyone, "I am the invincible Paru!"
"Oh! You big oaf actually did something useful!" Renetia shouted with bright eyes.
"Yes, Lord Renetia, I—"
Before Paru could finish, his eyes rolled back, his smile froze, and he quickly collapsed onto the deck.
"Just one shot!" Renetia yelled angrily.
Whoosh! The remaining cannonballs continued to come in, and at that moment, a nimble figure jumped out from the deck. Akin swung his crutches, striking the iron balls on the crutches against the cannonballs, knocking them all down into the sea, creating splashes of water.
"Leave it to me, Lord Renetia!" Akin landed on the deck, speaking earnestly.
"Leave it to you? They're changing direction, quick, defend!" Renetia shouted.
The Doghead Warship, after firing its bow cannonballs, quickly turned its body, aiming its side at the Black Ship.
The front and back of a ship, due to their smaller area, naturally had fewer cannons than the sides. Although it was unclear why the Doghead Warship didn't fire its main cannon, it was evident that the side cannons were definitely numerous! Bang bang bang! Rows of sparks lit up from the Doghead Warship's hull, and its cannonballs turned into black lines in the air, densely rushing towards the Black Ship.
With that many cannonballs, they simply couldn't defend against them all!
"Just a little more!" Renetia gritted her teeth, releasing her tool hammer, spreading her small hands wide.
On the other side of the broken bridge, there were still people jumping over. Just a little more, and they could take all the slaves around this broken bridge away. Just that little bit, but now they had to make a decision.
"Power."
Renetia was about to press down on the deck, but at that moment, she heard the sound of a sword being swung. Lily jumped to the end of the railing, raised her Fine Sword, and dashed forward. As she approached the tail end of the cannonball, she suddenly leaped, her body and sword cutting through the darkening sky, leaving a bright silver light that sliced through the night.
Clang! That bright light connected from the tail end of the cannonball to the front, cutting all the cannonballs fired in a straight line in half, causing them to explode in the air like fireworks in the night sky.
"Lily!"
Lily jumped onto the second floor of the deck structure, firmly calling out, "Set sail!"
In that brief moment, all the slaves who had jumped down landed on the deck.
There were no more people rushing towards the ship. Renetia revealed her tiger teeth, her fingers sparking with electricity as she forcefully pressed down on the deck, "Get moving, you old hag!"
The Black Ship, which had been stationary at the center of the Bridge, suddenly erupted with a burst of force, propelling itself into the Sea, escaping the range targeted by the Warship, and quickly sailing away from the Sea.
They had escaped!
They had achieved their goal. Whoosh! Just as the words left her mouth, a massive stone block came crashing in at a speed faster than a cannonball, the force of it creating a loud bang in the air, its power making even the sound seem formidable.
Bang! Akin quickly jumped up, swinging the iron balls on his crutches to collide with the stone block. The impact sent Akin spitting out blood, as he was pushed back towards the deck.
Smack!!
Just as he was about to crash onto the deck, Marika swiftly slapped the stone block. Her arms bulged with veins, her gentle smile faltering, her forehead breaking out in veins as she strained to hold back the stone block, her feet creating a dent in the deck as she was pushed back, carving a trench until she finally stopped.
Marika felt her hands going numb. Instinctively, she looked towards the ruins of the Bridge, where a robust figure covered in blood had emerged, laughing heartily, "I won't let you escape!"
The Doghead Warship had now reached the center of the broken Bridge, and Garp jumped in, standing at the side of the ship, reaching for a cannonball and hurling it towards the Black Ship.
"Fist Bone: Meteorite!"
Boom!!
The cannonball struck near the ship, exploding and sending up a splash of water even larger than the cannon fire, the impact causing the Black Ship to shake even more than before.
"This force," Marika bit her lip, "we can't stop it."
They could block stones, but they couldn't stop cannonballs that were smaller yet more powerful.
"Fist Bone: Meteor Shower!"
Boom boom boom! The cannonballs flew in like black phantoms, resembling a falling black meteor shower, giving no one a chance to react. Under Garp's relentless throwing, they struck around the ship, exploding into huge splashes of water, raining down on the deck.
Not a single one missed!
Some even directly hit the hull, the explosions causing the Black Ship to sway violently. At that moment, they felt it was worse than being in a storm.
At least the ship could maintain stability in a storm.
Thanks to the ship's solid construction, made from the best materials in the East Sea and Renetia's technology, combined with its swift sailing speed, the cannonballs had not been effective.
However, the hit hull was clearly not comparable to ordinary cannons; it was already damaged!
"Puhahaha, very sturdy, huh? How about this!"
Garp laughed again, and out of nowhere, a massive iron ball that took up half the deck appeared, attached to a chain. As Garp swung the heavy chain, the giant iron ball spun in the air a few times before crashing down towards the Black Ship.
"Seriously?"
Akin stared blankly at the giant iron ball coming down, its shadow engulfing him entirely. If it hit, half the ship would sink! Lily gritted her silver teeth, her knuckles turning white as she gripped the sword hilt, her eyes bursting with determination. Even if it meant death, she would try her best to block it! Crack.
Just as she was about to move, the rubble on the deck suddenly shifted. With a bang, the entire ruin collapsed, and a figure shot up into the air.
Thud! A dull sound echoed on the iron ball, and the massive iron ball seemed to be impacted, veering off its trajectory and crashing down into the Sea.
Boom!!
A tsunami-like wave surged up as the iron ball fell, spreading outwards and creating temporary ripples on the sea surface.
"Oh!"
Garp exclaimed in surprise, looking at the person standing at the bow of the ship, laughing, "Puhahaha, you really are tenacious!"
Standing there was Sage.
Bogart had also appeared at the side of the ship, glancing at Sage across from him, his sharp eyes widening in shock as he immediately ordered, "Fire!"
The Navy on the ship quickly adjusted to the cannon positions, just as they were about to fire, suddenly their bodies froze, their eyes rolling back, and they collapsed, foaming at the mouth.
Bogart's eyes widened, cold sweat dripping down his face as he looked incredulously at the man standing tall across from him, "You—"
Even Garp, at that moment, lost his smile, becoming serious.
"Old man."
The crimson glow in Sage's eyes flickered and faded, the flowing darkness on his fist receding like a tide, forming a layer of black that gradually faded.
He looked at Garp, who was getting further away, a smirk creeping onto his face, revealing a sinister expression, "Next time we meet, I won't be this pathetic. Just you wait!"
