Chapter 141: Chapter 141: Enthusiasm After a Beating

"Ain reporting! Admiral Zephyr! Vice Admiral Wright! We're approaching Marineford!"

Ain called out to Zephyr and Wright, who were chatting on the deck.

"Oh? We're already there... time flies when you're older and chatting away," Zephyr muttered, smacking his lips with a look of reluctant amusement.

Wright wiped a cold sweat from his brow. What's with Teacher Zephyr today? Chatting isn't the issue... The problem is why the conversation revolved around matchmaking views, family, and kids... What nonsense!

Sengoku's an old bachelor, but at least Garp, with his son and grandson, doesn't prattle on like this!

After this ordeal, thanks to Wright's presence, Zephyr had never truly despaired. Being rescued by his own student only reaffirmed his beliefs—proof that he had successfully nurtured a strong and exceptional Marine. Soon, his prized disciple would surpass him.

"Oh? My Lightbringer warship seems to have returned as well."

Wright noticed his warship docked in Marineford's port. Before his sudden disappearance, he had instructed Drake to wait at headquarters, so Drake, perceptive as ever, hadn't risked distracting Wright by calling during his battle.

"Kuina might have a thing or two to say about this. Haha..." Wright chuckled. After all, these older guys couldn't resist spoiling the little girl. Kuina was well-loved by Garp, Sengoku, and Zephyr, though Zephyr often kept his fondness under wraps to maintain his dignity as the Chief Instructor of the training camp.

In a few years, this little girl will officially become one of Zephyr's disciples.

"I think the one who'll have an opinion is Kuina herself when you assign me a beautiful female cadet," Wright mused silently, wisely choosing not to voice his thoughts.

At the port, Marines had already lined up to welcome Zephyr's practice ship. The Fleet Admiral of the Marines—Sengoku the Buddha—personally came to greet them.

The attack on Zephyr had shaken all of Marineford. Who was Zephyr? A former Marine Admiral! Even with cadets to protect, anyone capable of injuring Zephyr so severely couldn't possibly be weak. Simultaneously, Wright's sudden appearance to rescue Zephyr became another focal point of attention.

A teleportation ability, even in a world brimming with strange Devil Fruits, was nothing short of extraordinary.

Although Sengoku had clarified that Wright's teleportation relied on specific coordinate tools and was limited to his own use, Wright's identity made the ability even more terrifying. Not only was his offensive power formidable, but his array of support abilities was practically game-breaking. Now, adding teleportation to the mix?

Chillingly unstoppable.

"Zephyr! Are you okay?"

Seeing Wright by Zephyr's side, Sengoku knew logically that he must be fine, yet he couldn't suppress his concern. After all, this old comrade had sacrificed so much for the Marines. If it weren't for the Lightforged Beacon Crystal Wright had installed on Zephyr's practice ship, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

This wasn't the first time. Sengoku had lost count of how often Wright's seemingly prophetic intuition had intervened, turning potential disasters into manageable situations. It was as if the young Vice Admiral could foresee the future, his casual preparations always proving pivotal.

Having Wright in the Marines was truly a blessing.

"I'm fine, Sengoku."

Zephyr, unusually, gave Sengoku a strong hug. "Better than ever. To be saved by one of my own students... I could die without regret."

"Teacher Zephyr, don't jinx it," Wright interjected with a wry smile. "If you talk like this, all my fellow disciples are going to scorn me."

"Hahaha!" Zephyr laughed heartily, giving Sengoku a sly wink. "Sengoku, I've decided. I'm assigning the top cadet of the elite squad, Ain, to Wright's command. Any objections?"

"Ha! None at all."

Sengoku shook his head, smiling. Seeing his old friend in such high spirits brought him genuine relief—even if it meant saddling Wright with more responsibilities.

"Don't worry. I'll make proper arrangements for the cadets we lost."

Sengoku preempted Zephyr's protests, assuring him. "Leave it to me. You should rest and prepare yourself for the graduation ceremony. Even with Wright's healing, your mental state needs recovery."

"Alright. I'll leave it to you."

Accompanied by Instructor Shuzo, Zephyr left to rest. The cadets, following prior instructions, dispersed to their respective posts.

"Ain, head to my office and find your senior, Drake. He'll help you get settled," Wright instructed.

"Oh, you might run into my junior, Kuina. She's still just a kid, so make sure to get along with her," Wright added with a teasing tone.

"Yes, Vice Admiral Wright!" Ain saluted before departing.

Watching her leave, Wright turned to Sengoku. "Old man Sengoku, I assume the Lightforged Beacon Crystal has drawn attention this time?"

"No doubt about it. Zephyr's attack rocked headquarters like an earthquake. And then you—first transporting the Arlong Pirates to Impel Down, then vanishing from under Magellan's nose, only to reappear on Zephyr's practice ship moments later..."

"Such a miraculous ability couldn't possibly remain a secret."

As they returned to Sengoku's office—thankfully, Garp wasn't around, making the place much tidier—Sengoku settled behind his desk, clasping his hands together.

"This incident, while not something we wished for, has undeniably proven the Lightforged Beacon Crystal's value—especially when combined with your skills. It's a strategic asset of the highest order."

Once seated, Wright poured himself a cup of tea. "The current version is just the prototype. Its potential far exceeds what we're using now."

"In my ideal vision, the Lightforged Beacon should allow for triggering with a Lightforged Crystal, enabling ordinary people to use it. It should also support the teleportation of large objects."

Sengoku's eyes gleamed. "Either advancement would be revolutionary!"

"Both are possible," Wright said with determination. "However, I doubt I can develop them on my own."

"The prototype wasn't solely my work. I... persuaded a scientific research team to assist me."

Sengoku raised an eyebrow. "Persuaded, you say?"

"Indeed. Specifically, Dr. Vegapunk's former colleague—Vinsmoke Judge."

"Pfft!" Sengoku spat out his tea. "Germa?!"

"That's right. King Judge is a brilliant scientist. Once he... recognized the error of his ways, he was more than eager to help."

Error of his ways? Sengoku's eyebrow twitched. You mean, after you threatened him with your blade? You said it, didn't you?
