One Piece: Holy Light Swordmaster

Chapter 172: Chapter 172: Infiltrating Wano Country

"Hey, old man Sengoku, got any tips for mastering Conqueror's Haki?"

Wright brushed aside the topic of Kaido. That shameless guy could blab all he wanted—if Wright was strong enough, it wouldn't matter!

"I feel like my Conqueror's Haki is some sort of mutated version fused with my abilities!"

Sengoku looked at Wright, whose face was brimming with curiosity, and silently grumbled about his own Devil Fruit powers.

Why couldn't his Buddha form, which could enhance intelligence, give a boost to Haki too?

Shouldn't shockwaves and Conqueror's Haki go hand in hand?

"Tips, huh…" Sengoku adjusted his iconic frog-like glasses.

"About G-5's situation?"

"…"

Wright's expression stiffened for a moment. After a brief pause, he gritted his teeth and said, "That's no big deal!"

"Hmm… as reliable as ever."

Clearing away the fragments of his shattered teacup, Sengoku dryly continued:

"Conqueror's Haki often manifests initially in moments of extreme emotion, such as anger. It can knock out those around you, but you can't control who it affects."

"At an intermediate level, as your mental strength increases, Conqueror's Haki becomes more precise, allowing you to control its timing, power, and area of influence."

"And at the highest level…" Sengoku sighed. "A true master with a balanced heart, technique, and body can radiate their Haki continuously, as if it's always active. Its sheer pressure can even shake physical objects, and seasoned warriors might collapse just by passing near them."

"Whoa!"

Wright's eyes sparkled with excitement. While he knew Conqueror's Haki could be flashy, like how Shanks made his name, he never had a clear understanding of its progression. Sengoku's explanation revealed critical keywords:

"Mind," "will," and "balance of heart, technique, and body!"

"So, old man Sengoku, you're at the intermediate level? Pretty weak!"

"Ah! You little brat! Don't you know how to respect your elders? Do you think reaching the top level of Conqueror's Haki is that easy?"

Sengoku's eyes narrowed, and an intimidating pressure erupted around Wright. The sheep-shaped shredder by the desk, however, remained utterly unaffected.

"Huh?"

"Crackle!"

Golden lightning crackled between Sengoku and Wright, colliding with streaks of black and red lightning that appeared out of nowhere.

"!!"

Sengoku's eyes widened. He'd only intended to teach this cocky kid a lesson, but—this brat had just claimed his Conqueror's Haki was special—

"And it really is!"

Sengoku stared at the startled Wright. "You've only awakened it for a day, and yet you can instinctively unleash it?"

"Though you can't fully control it, it's clearly not running wild—otherwise, it wouldn't have stayed confined to this small office!"

"Old man Sengoku, you tricked me again!"

Wright patted his chest in relief. "If I hadn't restrained it just now, the fallout from my Conqueror's Haki would've been your problem to clean up!"

"No, most people who just awaken it wouldn't be able to trigger it so easily again, even if provoked by another Conqueror's Haki."

Sengoku sighed again—was he really getting old? Were the younger generation always this monstrous?

"Enough about Conqueror's Haki. Find an isolated spot and test it yourself—you can't use it at headquarters!"

Opening a drawer, Sengoku pulled out a document, signed it with a flourish, and handed it to Lighter.

"Here, your appointment as G-5's base commander. Head there directly after returning from Wano. I don't want to see you for a while—dealing with you is exhausting!"

"…"

Wright twitched his lips but reluctantly accepted the document.

"Man, old age really makes people cranky. Maybe I'll call Garp to keep you company more often…

"Two cranky old guys hanging out might cancel each other out!"

"Get out! Now! Immediately!"

Back aboard a G-1 branch warship near Kaido's territory, Wright surveyed the scene and nodded in satisfaction—no distress signals.

"Alright, return to base as quickly as you can. I'll move ahead on my own."

After instructing the Marines, Wright spread his radiant Holy Light wings and soared skyward, leaving the crew in awe.

"Vice Admiral Wright is incredible!"

"To fight Kaido to a standstill and recover in just a few days… he's already heading back out as if nothing happened!"

"Yeah, even Vice Admiral Doberman praised him for hours after hearing about his accomplishments!"

"G-5 personnel said Squad 04 couldn't stop boasting about him—they're practically fanatics now!"

"Tch! Like you're not jealous—I don't believe it for a second… And with HQ's orders, Vice Admiral Wright will soon be G-5's base commander!"

"Yeah… so envious… Those rowdy G-5 guys are so lucky!"

"What a sight!"

Flying through the air, Wright finally reached the vicinity of Wano Country.

Wano was unique, surrounded by cliffs and waterfalls with no external coastline. While pirates could scale the falls with carp pulling their ships, only Wano's elites and Kaido controlled the secret entry through the "submarine port."

But for someone like Wright who could fly, such hassle was unnecessary. He soared above the waterfalls and headed straight for the coast.

To blend in, Wright disguised himself as an ordinary samurai.

"Hmm… which beach is this again?"

Scratching his head, Wright admitted he couldn't recall Wano's map—too complicated! All he knew was that the Flower Capital lay at its center.

"That's enough; anywhere works."

Noticing the faint silhouette of Onigashima in the distance, Wright began his trek inland.

"Straight to the center it is—Onigashima is too unique to mistake."

Flying openly wasn't an option, but with no rush, walking would suffice.

"Tch! If only I could find Tenguyama Hitetsu—there's the Nidai Kitetsu among the 21 Great Grade Blades!"

"And there's also the Ame no Habakiri and Enma, both among the Great Grade Blades. Wano really has no shortage of fine swords!"

"Come to think of it… Zoro didn't have the Wado Ichimonji at first. Starting out must've been tough."

"Maybe I'll bring him the Nidai Kitetsu?"

"They say it's cursed… would be interesting to see."

"Not that he's cute or anything, but he is my junior… If I run into him, I might as well take it."

"Sigh, I'm such a generous senior—better than I am to my own nephew!"
