One Piece: I, the Strongest Intern of the Roger Pirates

Chapter 32: Chapter 32 – Gains

Hey, you—explain yourself! Why did you deliberately approach Zephyr earlier? Are you scheming something?

Just as Fang Yi was about to head back to his cabin to sort through today's rewards, Peterm grabbed him and questioned him with a suspicious, conspiratorial look.

Fang Yi had no idea how to respond to that, so he gave a vague answer, brushing it off like it was nothing.

"This kid… What the hell did he do?"

Peter rubbed his chin, watching Fang Yi dash into the cabin.

Ignoring Peterm's curiosity, Fang Yi returned to his room and was just about to open his inventory when there was a knock at the door.

"Buggy? What are you sneaking around for?"

Opening the door, Fang Yi saw Buggy carrying a huge sack, nervously peeking around.

"Quick—let me in first!"

Buggy barged in, dragging the sack behind him, and finally let out a sigh of relief.

"Since you've got your room, I'm stashing this stuff here for now. Cool?"

"Hold up—what the hell are you up to?"

Fang Yi frowned.

"Why not put it in your room? Did you do something shady behind Shanks' back?"

The three interns had been assigned two small rooms. As their team leader, Fang Yi had his own, while Shanks and Buggy shared the other.

Buggy didn't bother explaining. He simply opened the sack, revealing a hoard of glittering treasure: gold, jewels, all shining brilliantly.

Fang Yi's expression instantly shifted to panic. He snatched the bag away and yelled:

"Buggy! Are you insane?! Did you seriously raid our treasure vault while everyone was gone?!"

With that much treasure, the only place it could've come from was their ship's vault.

And since Buggy had returned to the ship before anyone else, he certainly had the opportunity.

But why would he do something so obviously foolish? If discovered, he'd be kicked off the crew—stealing from your ship was one of the greatest taboos among pirates.

Buggy, however, remained unfazed. He even looked slightly smug.

"Hah, I knew you'd figure it out! But man, if you guys had taken just a little longer getting back, I could've grabbed even more!"

"You idiot! Put it back now! If Mr. Rayleigh finds out, you're dead meat!"

Fang Yi was about to drag the bag back to the vault himself.

The crew's treasure vault held loot collected from their adventures and was managed directly by Rayleigh. He held the only key. And knowing Rayleigh's sharp mind, even the slightest discrepancy would get noticed.

"Relax! Who said I stole from our vault?"

Buggy stomped forward, pinning the sack down.

"This haul is mine. I took it myself. Why shouldn't I keep it?"

"You moron! You know what this means?! Raiding your own crew's vault is a capital offense among pirates!"

Fang Yi shoved Buggy away, shouting.

Buggy stood frozen for a moment, then stared at Fang Yi like he was crazy.

"Who the hell told you I stole from our vault?!"

"Huh? It's not ours? Then where did you steal it from?"

Fang Yi blinked in confusion.

"I looted the treasure vault on the Rocks Pirates' ship, alright?! I risked my ass getting this!"

Buggy roared, finally setting the record straight.

Fang Yi was stunned—he'd misjudged Buggy.

As it turned out, when Buggy saw Zephyr and Whitebeard fighting, he had a sudden idea. He figured the Rocks Pirates' ship was probably unguarded, so he sneaked aboard and confirmed no one was there.

After rummaging around, he found their treasure vault and looted it clean.

The stuff in Fang Yi's room was the portion Buggy had personally picked out to keep for himself. The rest was stashed in the cargo hold to be offered up to the crew when Rayleigh returned.

Realizing his mistake, Fang Yi laughed, slapped Buggy on the back, and said:

"That's more like it! You should've just explained! C'mon, show me the rest. You know the rule—finders keepers, but friends get a cut! I've burned through so many arrows lately, you owe me a little something!"

"And my stash here…?"

Buggy asked with a smirk.

"No problem! I'll guard it for you!"

Fang Yi patted his chest with pride.

The two then left together, shoulder-to-shoulder, to go sort through the loot like old pals.

After returning to his room again, Fang Yi tossed a few gold pieces into a corner and opened his inventory.

He had originally saved up 8 lottery tickets and, after today's events, earned 4 more, bringing the total to 12.

But just as he was about to start drawing, he noticed something strange — two of the tickets looked different.

Upon closer inspection, Fang Yi realized the two tickets had a blue tint and were marked with the Marine emblem.

That discovery shocked him. He had never noticed any visual differences on the tickets before.

Inspecting all twelve, he confirmed it:

The original eight tickets looked the same — no marks, all plain.

Of the four new ones, two had the Marine emblem, and two bore the Rocks Pirates' insignia.

"…Huh."

Fang Yi stared at the tickets, deep in thought.

"Let's find out what makes these different!"

Following his instincts, he decided to use one of the Marine-marked tickets.

"Congratulations, Host. You have obtained Navy Rokushiki Skill: Soru!"

Fang Yi's eyes widened in disbelief.

A single draw — and he landed a technique!

And not just any technique, but one of the famed Navy Six Powers!

"So that's it! The first time I log a new character, the system gives me one of these marked lottery tickets. And these have higher odds of giving good stuff!"

He rubbed his chin thoughtfully.

"Any tickets earned after that—like repeat logs—are probably just the regular ones, with normal luck…"

With that theory in mind, he decided to burn through the remaining three marked tickets.

"Congratulations, Host. You have obtained: Haki (Conqueror's) Shard!"

"Congratulations, Host. You have obtained: Physical Inheritance (Minor)!"

"Congratulations, Host. You have obtained: Haki (Armament) Shard!"

Gulp.

Fang Yi audibly swallowed.

If the first draw had been a fluke, these three confirmed his theory: marked tickets = high-quality rewards.

This also explained why he got a skill during his very first 10-draw at the start — that ticket had come from Gol D. Roger!

Back then, Fang Yi was confused why his luck had seemed to decline afterward, but it turned out the difference was in the type of ticket, not his fortune.

He stared at the seven Armament Haki shards in his inventory, his heart racing.

Once he could synthesize Armament Haki, his attacks would be far more effective.

Arrows coated in Haki?

No ordinary opponent would dare try to block them.

Even better, he had earned another Inheritance item — this one was Physical, which he figured would increase his stamina and physical durability.

He pulled the item out of his inventory and consumed it on the spot.

This wasn't the first time he'd used an inheritance, so the initial tension was gone.

The searing pain that followed made his internal organs feel like they were on fire.

But Fang Yi gritted his teeth, enduring it silently — he knew pain meant power.

After what felt like forever, he collapsed from exhaustion.

Only after a short rest did he finally get up to take a shower.

Every time he used one of these things, his body expelled something foul, which is why bathing right after was a must.

By the time Fang Yi finished his shower, Rayleigh and the others had returned with Shanks, having safely handed the Celestial Dragons over to the Marines.

As for what the nobles thought afterward? It no longer mattered.

They hadn't rescued them for gratitude — that was never the point.

But just then, the sky split open, and God Valley shook violently.

A chain of massive explosions echoed through the heavens.

When the dust finally settled, Roger and Garp emerged, both covered in blood.

"Captain!"

Fang Yi and the others followed Rayleigh and ran toward Roger.

"Vice Admiral Garp!"

The Marines likewise ran to meet their hero.

Roger and Garp exchanged a smile.

"Roger… next time we meet, I'll be arresting you."

Garp said seriously.

"You won't catch me!"

Roger grinned from ear to ear.

"Wahahahaha!"

Garp laughed so hard he nearly cried.

"Let's go. Time to leave."

Glancing at the stern-looking Marines nearby, Roger didn't waste any time and returned to the ship with his crew.

"Captain Roger, are you alright?"

Back aboard the ship, Fang Yi asked, clearly concerned.

Roger looked worn down — his entire body was stained with blood.

"Huff… I need rest. Yoichi, prep some food. I want to eat the moment I wake up… Rayleigh, I'm leaving things to you for now…"

The usually tireless Roger sounded completely spent. He barely finished speaking before collapsing on the deck and falling fast asleep.

The ship's doctor didn't hesitate — he had the crew carry Roger below, stripped him down, cleaned his wounds, applied medicine, and tucked him into bed.

"How's the Captain?"

Rayleigh asked with a serious expression.

"He's just drained. Overexerted himself. I've treated the wounds. He needs to rest."

The doctor replied with a shake of his head.
