Arthur knew the old man wasn't lying. The construction of the Thor was a massive undertaking. To complete it within five years was already a stroke of luck. It couldn't be rushed.
"This is... frustrating!"
He stood up from the throne and walked outside, joining the group of shipwrights in the construction work.
...
Time flew by. Another year passed in the blink of an eye.
This year was 1496 in the Sea Calendar. Arthur was sixteen.
A year of growth had made him even taller, reaching around six foot six. His physique was incredibly powerful, hidden beneath his clothes, every muscle defined and hard as steel.
His appearance hadn't changed much, only becoming more ruggedly handsome.
Standing at six foot six in the One Piece world was considered average, even a little short. But Arthur was satisfied.
His most significant change was in his strength. He had developed the Rumble-Rumble Fruit's power to 200 million volts, matching Enel's output during his fight with Luffy. But the destructive power was several times greater.
With the amplification from the Electric Field, his Observation Haki could now easily cover the entire Sky Island. In other words, every move of everyone on the island was under his surveillance.
His explosive growth in power didn't make Arthur overly excited. He was busy working with the shipwrights, using electric heat and electromagnetism to shape the gold, forging it into the components for the Thor.
Thanks to their efforts, his control over electromagnetism had also improved. He could now lift dozens—even hundreds of tons of gold with a thought.
During the year, all the gold on Sky Island had been gathered and piled up near the temple for him to manipulate, transforming it into precise components.
While using his Observation Haki to survey Upper Yard, Arthur discovered the super-giant serpent known as the "Master of the Sky," which was then guarding the legendary Golden Bell.
When the God's Militia tried to covet its most treasured possession, it went into a frenzy, wreaking havoc on Upper Yard.
If Arthur hadn't arrived in time to give it a good thrashing, it was estimated that more than half of Upper Yard would have been destroyed, and all the buildings would have needed to be rebuilt.
Sitting on the suspended golden throne, Arthur rested his head on one hand and tapped the other on the throne, as if playing an invisible instrument.
Electromagnetism was becoming more and more proficient, allowing him to transform metal objects into any shape he desired, effortlessly.
"It's been a year. All the components are finished. We're just waiting for them to be assembled. But assembling it will take another year or more. I should head down to the Blue Sea and see the world." Arthur thought to himself.
"Crack, crack!"
Not far from the temple, the slumbering Master of the Sky turned over, toppling all the towering trees beside it. This serpent was too large. Its enormous body could probably coil around Reverse Mountain's whale, Laboon.
The Master of the Sky had lived for over four hundred years. It was originally from the Blue Sea, swept up to Sky Island along with Jaya by the rising current.
It was blue-striped, with fins like a fish. It was hard to imagine what it ate to survive, and why it hadn't devoured all of Sky Island in over four hundred years.
Rows of trees were ruthlessly crushed, leaving a large, empty space on Upper Yard.
"Jörmungandr, quiet down!" Arthur shouted in annoyance.
He had given it the name Jörmungandr, because its size was similar to the World Serpent of Norse mythology.
Hearing the shout, Jörmungandr's massive body froze, almost curling up like a turtle retracting its neck.
A year ago, when he went to retrieve the Golden Bell, Arthur had fought it, beating it senseless.
Ever since, Jörmungandr had been terrified of him.
"Hiss!"
Jörmungandr flicked its tongue appeasingly, seemingly to appease Arthur. It raised its huge head, nudging the throne in the sky.
Normal people would have been scared to death by this, but Arthur was used to it. He knew this serpent, having lived so long, had developed intelligence no less than a human's.
"Alright, alright, stop it!"
Arthur reached out and patted its head. He instructed, "Jörmungandr, I'm leaving Sky Island soon. While I'm gone, keep an eye on these people, got it? If they slack off on building the ship, eat them all."
"Hiss..."
Jörmungandr nodded, guaranteeing it would obey, a glint of reluctance in its golden, vertical pupils.
...
"Lord God, are you really leaving?" Constance had been managing the affairs of Sky Island for Arthur, and he no longer appeared as timid as before.
"After I'm gone, supervise the construction of the Thor. I'll come back in a year to retrieve it."
Arthur actually felt a little reluctant to leave, having lived here for three years.
But his ambitions couldn't be confined to the small Sky Island. The Grand Line was a much larger world.
"Do you need me to inform the God's Militia to see you off?" Constance asked.
"No need. The fewer people who know of my departure, the better!"
Arthur waved his hand, his body slowly rising into the sky. He silently gazed at the island he had ruled for two years.
"Although I can call the wind and summon the rain here, able to do as I please, this is not what I want! I want an exciting and thrilling life, a life of unrestrained joy!"
He took one last, deep look at the unfinished Thor. Without further hesitation, he transformed into a bolt of lightning and shot towards the west!
...
Arthur's reborn family, the Seabury family, was located in the West Blue. Their family castle was built on a small island in the West Blue.
It had been a full eight years since he had last been home. He had no idea if his family still existed.
When the family's merchant ship had sailed to the Grand Line, they were all lost in a storm. Only a few old, weak, and sick servants remained in the family.
They were probably all dead by now. Even if they weren't, the valuables in the castle had likely been looted.
Arthur's only reason for returning to the West Blue was to erect a tombstone for his parents, who had treated him well, as a way to repay their kindness in raising him.
A man can live without virtue, but never without feelings.
His body fully elementalized, the speed of lightning was very fast. In mere seconds, he had flown out of Sky Island's airspace.
BOOOOOMMM!!
Arthur's current physique and stamina were definitely strong enough to support supersonic travel and long-distance flight.
No one knew that high in the sky, a bolt of lightning was rapidly streaking towards the West Blue.
The world of One Piece was divided into four parts by the Red Line and the Grand Line.
To reach the West Blue, he needed to fly over the Red Line from the New World side.
Arthur flew ceaselessly, freely soaring through the clouds, leaving behind any lingering sadness about leaving Sky Island. All that remained was boundless excitement.
Like a prisoner escaping from jail, he felt a sense of liberation.
"Hahahaha!" He laughed loudly, darting back and forth through the clouds. The lightning he created caused a chain reaction, making the entire sky crackle with thunder and lightning.
Arthur's actions would probably give navigators a headache, but what did he care?
....
A day later.
"Hmm? What's that..." While flying, Arthur approached the Red Line. He saw a fantastical city in the clouds at the top of the Red Line.
Clean, tidy, magnificent. In short, it seemed like all good things could be seen there, like a paradise on earth.
"Mary Geoise?"
Only the Holy Land, Mary Geoise, was at the very top of the Red Line. Arthur was certain.
Suddenly, he grinned. "Should I give Mary Geoise a little greeting, and announce the arrival of Seabury D. Arthur to the World?"
After careful consideration, Arthur decided against it. He didn't know what secrets and terrors were hidden here.
After all, it had stood for eight hundred years without falling. Mary Geoise must have some great secrets.
The fact that Doflamingo could use this secret to threaten the World Government, making them wary, was incredible.
"Forget it. When I'm strong enough to fear nothing, I'll come back here... Now, I should return to the West Blue!"
Arthur transformed back into lightning and continued his journey, flying over the Red Line, returning to his hometown in this world!
