One Piece: Marine Luffy, Garp regrets it

Chapter 233: Chapter 233

Reaching out, Luffy ruffled Yamato's smooth, long hair twice with an amused grin.

"You're too gullible. Do you believe everything people say?" he teased, his tone light but mocking. "If I remember correctly, Kozuki Oden was a Wano samurai who sailed with Roger. But that guy was a man, nothing like the person with… um… rather developed pectoral muscles standing in front of me."

Yamato's face twisted in outrage at his words, but before she could retort, Luffy casually waved toward the four Marines who were cautiously observing from a distance. He signaled for them to approach.

When Yamato heard Luffy openly doubt her identity as Kozuki Oden, she immediately lost her composure.

"Damn Marine! I am Kozuki Oden, and I'm a real man!" she yelled, stomping her foot indignantly. "What I said is true! If you don't believe me, I can recount all my adventures for you!"

What a joke, Luffy thought, stifling a laugh. This diary must be some next-level brainwashing. Maybe even more powerful than Konoha's so-called Will of Fire.

He crossed his arms and nodded perfunctorily, though his internal monologue dripped with skepticism. Those "adventures" are probably glorified nonsense. Oden likely exaggerated everything to make himself seem more heroic.

"Alright," Luffy said at last, putting on a serious expression. "Stretch out your hands. I'll figure out whether you're the real Kozuki Oden or not."

Yamato blinked in surprise, her anger momentarily forgotten. "Eh? Really? You've met Oden before?" Her excitement grew, and she added hastily, "I mean… you've met me?"

Without answering, Luffy reached into his coat and pulled out a pair of seastone handcuffs. With a swift, deliberate motion, he clasped them around Yamato's wrists. The cuffs clicked into place, and Yamato froze, staring at them in disbelief.

Luffy leaned back, observing her stunned expression. "Yep. That vacant, confused look. It's unmistakable. You must be Kozuki Oden," he said with a smirk.

Hancock, standing nearby, let out an audible sigh of exasperation, while the four Marines exchanged bewildered glances. They silently labeled Yamato as an idiot in their minds.

How has someone this naïve survived this long?

Feeling the seastone's familiar suppression, Yamato's body weakened, and her young mind seemed to crumble. Her face flushed with anger and humiliation.

"You bastard Marine!" she yelled, lunging forward in a fury. "How dare you tease a samurai! I'll kill you! Kill you!!!"

Unfazed by her outburst, Luffy calmly intercepted her strike. Grabbing her arm mid-swing, he smoothly twisted it behind her back and pinned her in place.

"These handcuffs are top-grade seastone, much purer than the cheap ones you had before," Luffy said coolly. "You might as well save your energy. Just accept your fate."

Yamato thrashed and cursed, her vocabulary as colorful as it was limited. Luffy ignored her tantrum and casually pushed her toward Hancock. "Here, you deal with her," he said, his tone almost dismissive.

Hancock caught Yamato, restraining her effortlessly despite her struggling. Meanwhile, the four Marines finally approached, saluting nervously as they stood before Luffy.

"What's her deal?" Luffy asked, gesturing toward Yamato with a flick of his hand. "Weren't all the prisoners from Wano supposed to be released?"

The officer leading the group stepped forward, his expression sheepish. "Allow me to explain, sir," he began.

According to the Marines, Yamato had been found in one of the dungeons during the raid on Wano Country. Initially, they assumed she was just another civilian imprisoned by Kaido. But after speaking with other captives, they discovered her true identity—Kaido's daughter.

However, there was a twist. Yamato refused to acknowledge Kaido as her father. Instead, she loudly declared herself to be Kozuki Oden, heir to the shogunate of Wano. She claimed she was a man and was determined to overthrow Kaido.

"When Fleet Admiral Sengoku saw her, he was understandably surprised," the officer explained. "But by then, the Five Elders had already issued their orders. As Kaido's daughter, she was to be sent back to him."

Luffy raised an eyebrow. "So why is she still here?"

"Well… she refused to leave," the lieutenant admitted, his voice dropping. "When we tried to send her back, she barricaded herself on the warship. Kaido, surprisingly, didn't pursue her. He just left with his crew, not even mentioning her."

Luffy chuckled at that. "Cold. Not even Kaido wants her back?"

The lieutenant nodded gravely. "Exactly. She's been with us ever since. Sengoku decided to take her to headquarters, hoping to interrogate her about Wano and the Beasts Pirates before deciding what to do."

"I take it he doesn't plan to throw her in Impel Down?"

"That's correct," the lieutenant replied. Lowering his voice, he added, "In fact, the Fleet Admiral is considering recruiting her into the Marines. Given her animosity toward Kaido, she might be an asset in the future war against the Beasts Pirates."

Luffy smirked, glancing back at Yamato, who was still squirming under Hancock's grip. "Hah. Sengoku has an odd sense of humor. Letting the daughter take down her father? That's a gamble."

The officer remained silent, his posture stiff as he awaited further instruction.

However, Yamato had overheard the conversation. Her head snapped up, and she glared at Luffy with fiery determination.

"I will defeat Kaido!" she shouted. "I've been waiting for the chance to kill that bastard for years!"

Luffy raised an eyebrow, amused. "And yet, you keep calling yourself his son?"

"I am his son! I'm a man!" Yamato declared with unshakable conviction, stomping her foot for emphasis.
