Chapter 479: Chapter 479: Clash of Emperors - Kaido vs. Big Mom

Though the conditions were harsh on Whole Cake Island, many impoverished souls still flocked to Big Mom's territory, willing to trade their freedom for security. They offered their very lives in exchange for a home where they could live without worry—a place of seeming peace and prosperity under the rule of the Charlotte family.

This had been the norm for years, but everything changed just over a month ago.

That fateful day, another terrifying figure who held the title of Emperor arrived on their shores alongside their queen. The peaceful existence they had grown accustomed to shattered like glass.

From that moment onward, the island's inhabitants could hear the fierce quarrels between their queen and this unwelcome visitor echoing across the landscape. Day after day, their homes and livelihoods suffered massive damage from the confrontations between these two titanic powers whenever a disagreement arose between them.

"Damn you, Kaido!" Big Mom's voice thundered across the devastated terrain. "I told you it was a trap!"

Charlotte Linlin, known to the world as "Big Mom," stood imposingly in the center of a massive crater. Her long pink curly hair flowed wildly in the wind, her bright lipstick and light purple eye shadow giving her massive face an even more intimidating appearance. The enormous woman wore a loose pink dress that barely contained her giant-like frame.

"You idiot! Don't think that just because I agreed to form an alliance with you, I'll voluntarily follow you to your death!" she roared, her eyes bulging with rage. "If you want to die so badly, just stand still and let me chop you to pieces!"

With a ferocious expression, she raised the massive sword Napoléon in her hand and slashed forward with terrifying force. The movement created a huge sword energy shockwave that tore through the air with incredible speed and devastating width.

"The Spear of Elbaf! IKOKU SOVEREIGNTY!" The named attack ripped through everything in its path as it raced toward her opponent.

Across from her, Kaido lowered his gourd of sake, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. His flushed face betrayed his drunken state as he staggered slightly, relying on his massive club to keep him upright.

Yet even in his inebriated condition, the Beast Emperor could sense the imminent danger from the terrifying sword energy hurtling toward him. In an instant, he steadied himself, frowning as he gripped the kanabō that had been planted in the ground—Hassaikai, his legendary weapon.

"Burp~" Kaido belched loudly. "You old hag, get this through your thick skull. I am NOT your subordinate! I don't DISCUSS things with you!"

With an earth-shaking roar, Kaido hefted his club with one hand, spinning it several times before grasping the handle with both hands. His eyes bulged as he shouted:

"Go to hell, you old woman! RAIMEI HAKKE!"

After a brief moment of charging, Hassaikai became wrapped in crackling red lightning. A column of concentrated "club energy" similar to Linlin's sword energy formed and shot straight toward Big Mom's attack.

The two Emperor-level techniques collided mid-air, pushing against each other with equal force. Neither could overwhelm the other, and they ultimately exploded into a violent shockwave that tore through the landscape.

In an instant, thousands of meters of land were upheaved and buildings reduced to rubble. Ordinary citizens who couldn't escape in time were caught in the devastating blast, their lives snuffed out in seconds.

But the battle between the two Emperors was far from over. Seeing that their long-range attacks were ineffective against each other, they simultaneously readied their weapons again.

Despite their enormous size, both moved with shocking speed as they rushed toward each other, their massive forms colliding with the force of natural disasters. Each impact between them generated tremendous storms and sonic booms that rippled through the air.

Their fighting style was wild and unrestrained, constantly shifting positions across the battlefield. Before long, the entire Whole Cake Island was riddled with craters, as though it had been subjected to relentless artillery bombardment. Countless innocent lives were lost as collateral damage in their struggle for dominance.

In the distance, a group of observers with diverse appearances and even more bizarre racial features had gathered to witness the clash of titans. From time to time, gasps of awe escaped their lips at particularly powerful exchanges.

Among them stood a muscular man with a burly figure and hair like flames. His upper body was bare save for an orange cape draped over his shoulders. With fiery eyes fixed on the battle, he couldn't help but mutter:

"No matter how many times I watch it, this level of combat is still so pleasing to the eye." The man, Charlotte Oven, the 16th son of the Charlotte family, grinned with excitement. "In this world, apart from Kaido, there aren't many who can fight with Mama like this."

The 19th son of the Charlotte family, a pale-faced man with a long pointed nose and user of the Book-Book Fruit, Mont-d'Or, hurriedly tried to temper his brother's enthusiasm.

"Brother Oven, now is not the time to admire the fight," Mont-d'Or said with evident anxiety. "If Mama and Kaido continue like this, Whole Cake Island will sink! We must find a way to stop them!"

Oven pointed at himself incredulously, giving his brother a look of disbelief.

"Hey, Mont-d'Or, look at those two fighting, and then look at me," he gestured between the clashing Emperors and himself. "Do you seriously think I have the ability to stop them?"

"We can't just let them continue fighting," Mont-d'Or replied irritably, wringing his hands.

At this moment, a voice with a distinctive accent cut through their argument.

"Perorin~ Don't be so anxious, Mont-d'Or," said the eldest son of the Charlotte family, Perospero, attempting to comfort his younger siblings. "Mama and Kaido are just venting their frustrations. Once they've released their anger, it will all end naturally."

Despite the eldest brother's reassurances, the siblings remained visibly worried as they watched the two Emperors continuing their fierce battle.

But then, something changed in the atmosphere. Charlotte Katakuri, the second son of the Charlotte family who had been sitting silently on a nearby rock with his eyes closed, suddenly opened them. His gaze sharpened as he looked in the direction of the fighting Emperors.

Something had caught his attention—something only he, with his advanced Observation Haki, could perceive...
