Chapter 100: Outsmarting Roger
"Roger!!!"
Charlotte Linlin roared in fury.
Not only had Gol D. Roger stolen her Road Poneglyph, but he had also slaughtered countless members of her crew.
As one of the Four Emperors of the New World, being humiliated like this was utterly unacceptable to her.
Above the battlefield, dark storm clouds gathered rapidly, flashing with lightning as thunder rumbled across the sky.
Moments later, a violent storm came crashing down upon the sea.
"That old hag is something else—she can actually change the entire climate of the area."
Roger, Rayleigh, and the others watched in awe as the sky darkened.
They had fought the Rocks Pirates before, and although they had never battled Big Mom in a life-or-death duel, they were familiar with her abilities.
Compared to back then, she was far more terrifying now.
"Protect the ship!" Roger ordered. "As long as we break through, that old hag won't be able to touch us!"
Despite Big Mom's overwhelming display of power, Roger remained unshaken.
She could cause chaos, but actually taking them down wouldn't be easy.
Their only priority was keeping the ship intact—as long as they had the Oro Jackson, they could escape the encirclement.
Fueled by rage, Big Mom unleashed Prometheus—
The sky, once shrouded in darkness, was suddenly bathed in an eerie red glow.
"First, a storm, and now she's using fire? What is she trying to do?"
Roger and his crew were momentarily confused by Big Mom's tactics.
Creating a rainstorm and then attacking with fire seemed contradictory—was she weakening her own power?
But then, they saw it—
A colossal fireball, as blinding as the sun, forming above them.
"Everyone, full power! Do not let that fireball hit the ship!"
The gigantic mass of flames looked as though it could consume the entire sky.
Any normal crew would have lost their nerve, but the Roger Pirates remained calm and composed, swiftly preparing to neutralize Big Mom's attack.
Jon, however, saw something else.
While his expression remained neutral, inside, he was ecstatic.
He had been waiting for the right moment, and now, it had finally arrived.
As the entire crew focused on Big Mom's attack, Jon quietly activated his ability.
"Clap!"
With a simple clap of his hands, a pirate on deck immediately shouted in alarm.
"Josie! What the hell are you doing?!"
His voice was loud, and the entire crew turned to look at Jon.
Facing the hostile glares of Roger's men, Jon smiled helplessly.
"What's wrong? Am I not allowed to clap?"
Roger narrowed his sharp gaze at Jon and spoke.
"Kid, you better not pull anything."
"You think I don't know? The moment you told me so eagerly that the Road Poneglyph was in Big Mom's hands, I knew you were just trying to pit us against her—all so you could find a chance to escape."
"But let me tell you something—you're being too naive."
"You might be strong, but escaping from me? Impossible."
"And more importantly, we're out at sea. You're a Devil Fruit user—where exactly do you think you can run?"
Jon suddenly grinned.
"Roger, you're absolutely right—"
"But you have no idea... I'm different from the rest."
"World of Trees—Birth!"
Jon shouted, his voice ringing through the air.
Despite the crew's lightning-fast reflexes, their attacks couldn't stop what happened next.
In an instant—
Gigantic trees erupted from the Oro Jackson, shooting skyward.
Within less than a second, the ship was completely transformed—
What was once a majestic pirate vessel became a floating forest, its towering trees reaching over dozens of meters high.
The pirates who had been charging toward Jon were suddenly blocked—
His escape route was secured.
"Cut down the trees!"
The crew immediately began hacking away at the massive trunks.
But as they did, something even worse happened—
Big Mom's colossal fireball was already falling toward them.
Jon's sudden attack had disrupted their defenses, leaving them no time to counter it.
The fireball descended upon the towering trees, setting them ablaze instantly.
Roger's expression darkened—his confidence replaced by fury.
Jon's sudden betrayal had completely wrecked his escape plan.
And now—
His beloved ship, the Oro Jackson, was burning.
This was not just any ship—
It had been crafted from the legendary Treasure Tree Adam, built with the finest materials, and custom-made for adventure in the New World.
It had been his most trusted companion—one of the reasons he had been able to conquer the Grand Line.
But now, thanks to Jon's ambush, the Oro Jackson was done for.
Even if Big Mom hadn't been chasing them, they wouldn't have had time to save it.
Now, with their ship in flames, they were in serious danger.
"Roger," Rayleigh's voice was grim, "That kid's disappeared."
Rayleigh had been tracking Jon with Observation Haki, but now—
Jon's presence had completely vanished.
"He's using his ability to mask his aura. The entire ship is covered in trees, so we can't sense him—but he can't have gone far."
Rayleigh scowled.
"To think we'd actually be outsmarted by a Navy brat… We took every precaution, but he still slipped past us."
They had already removed every plant from the ship—
Even small potted plants had been thrown overboard to prevent Jon from using them.
Yet, despite all their preparations, he had still caught them off guard—
Not only creating an entire forest in seconds, but also using it to hide his escape.
This wasn't just a powerful ability—it was a terrifying one.
"Tch."
Roger clicked his tongue in frustration.
Despite his usual carefree nature, being tricked like this filled him with rage.
It had been a long time since he had felt this furious.
"Forget about the kid!" Roger growled.
"We'll deal with Big Mom first. This ship is done for—we're taking one of hers."
Though reluctant, Roger made the call—
They were abandoning the Oro Jackson.
Rayleigh nodded, stepping forward.
"I'll handle it."
Roger's fierce gaze locked onto Big Mom, who was closing in fast.
He had lost his ship, and now—
He needed something to take his anger out on.
And Big Mom was the perfect target.
