One Piece: My Name is Jack, I'm Very Resistant to Beating

Chapter 68: Chapter 68: Jack-sama, I’m In!

Hody Jones had finally regained consciousness, but he was far from fine. He sprawled on the ground, legs splayed, his vacant eyes staring at the sky above Fish-Man Island.

"Splash..."

Jack and his crew leapt onto the beach, followed closely by a group of Fish-Men. Seeing them, Hody Jones' eyes sharpened with sudden clarity. When his gaze fell upon Finder, Hody struggled to his feet and yelled hoarsely:

"Finder! Kill them! Kill them all!"

However, Finder's response was swift and merciless—a resounding slap to Hody's face.

"Smack!"

"Shut your mouth! Do you even realize what kind of mess you've dragged us into?" Finder roared, his expression murderous. Hody froze, dumbstruck.

"What are you saying, Finder? Are you saying even you can't stand against them? We have so many comrades here! Surely we can—"

"Stand against them?" Finder interrupted with a bitter chuckle. He ripped open his shirt, pointing to the scar etched across his chest.

"See this? This was a gift from King, one of the Beasts Pirates, a few years ago. And he wasn't even targeting me. I was just caught in the aftermath of his fight with someone else. It nearly killed me."

His voice lowered, tinged with a hint of fear. "Since then, I've been cautious. That's why I turned down Tiger's invitation."

Finder jabbed a finger toward Jack. "And Jack here—our so-called comrade—holds the same rank in the Beasts Pirates as King. The Navy calls them the All-Stars. If he goes berserk, no one on this island can stop him—not unless Tiger or Jinbe returns."

So that's the story. It was all thanks to King, Jack thought to himself, remaining silent. These Fish-Men were overestimating him, thinking his strength was on par with King's. Not that he was complaining. Let them think that. In a few years, he'd smash King with his own kanabo anyway.

Hody and his companions stared at Jack, disbelief written all over their faces. They had never ventured beyond Fish-Man Island and couldn't comprehend the vast gulf in power that Finder described. Among Fish-Men, the strong rarely flaunted their strength, and to Hody's narrow worldview, Finder's words sounded almost fantastical.

Meanwhile, more Fish-Men emerged from the sea, their peculiar forms filling the beach near Coral Hill until the sandy stretch was packed with thousands of them. Curious whispers spread among those who were just arriving, their suspicious glares fixed on Jack's crew.

Jack's men, no saints themselves, glared right back, their eyes brimming with hostility. They barely restrained themselves, held in check only by Jack's presence.

"Ahem."

Jack cleared his throat, drawing everyone's attention. The crowd fell silent as Jack's piercing gaze swept across them. A smile tugged at his lips as he began to speak.

"Alright, I think you've all heard enough," Jack said, his voice calm but commanding. "So, who among you wants to join the Beasts Pirates?"

He spread his arms wide. "I'll make it simple: in our crew, there's no such thing as racial differences. We're all comrades. If you're strong enough, you can even lead humans! But don't bring any of that racial superiority nonsense. In the Beasts Pirates, strength determines everything. Your power decides your rank. Nothing else matters."

Jack's words sparked murmurs among the Fish-Men. Some nodded thoughtfully, while others glared in defiance.

"Questions? Ask them now," Jack offered.

One Fish-Man couldn't hold back any longer. "Are you kidding me? Who would ever join humans? Humans, get off our island!"

His outburst emboldened others, and a cacophony of angry shouts erupted.

"Humans! Leave Fish-Man Island!"

Jack's smile vanished. Before he could respond, Finder stepped forward, his expression grim.

"So, no matter what, you're set on recruiting some of our kin into your crew?" Finder asked, bowing his head slightly.

Jack's eyes narrowed. "That's right. And you're coming with us, too."

He stepped closer, towering over Finder. "And stand further back. I don't like looking up at people."

Finder's face darkened, but he reluctantly stepped back. Turning to the unruly crowd of Fish-Men, he barked:

"All of you! Get lost! This doesn't concern you! If you have something to say, wait until Arlong gets back!"

Jack's brow furrowed. Arlong again? The name seemed to crop up wherever these extremists were involved. Some low-tier thug with a bounty in the low millions? He'd crush him like the little worm he was.

Reluctantly, the rowdy Fish-Men dispersed into the sea. Finder's stern command left them grumbling but compliant.

"Now, those who want to join the Beasts Pirates, step forward," Finder called out. A handful of Fish-Men shuffled over hesitantly, but the majority remained rooted in place, suspicion etched on their faces.

"How do we know he's telling the truth?" one Fish-Man muttered. "What if he's like Macro, tricking us into slavery?"

"Yeah! Humans can't be trusted!" another added. "Why would they ever listen to us?"

Just as Jack prepared to respond, his sharp eyes caught movement beyond the Coral Hill. He spun around, his instincts kicking in.

"Huh?" Rim, one of Jack's crew, noticed it too and darted off.

Moments later, Rim returned, dragging a group of crestfallen pirates and a few tearful mermaid women in tow. The sight sent the Fish-Men into a frenzy.

"Bastards! How dare you! Kill them!"

Jack's roar silenced the uproar. He transformed into his massive mammoth form, his imposing figure casting a long shadow over the beach.

"Quiet, all of you!" Jack bellowed, his voice shaking the ground.

He turned his fury on the trembling pirates. "Didn't I say no trouble on Fish-Man Island? Did you think my orders didn't apply to you?"

"Jack-sama… we were just curious… just a moment of stupidity…" one pirate stammered.

"Curious? Stupid?" Jack's trunk slammed down, reducing the pirate to pulp. "You think this is a game? Mermaids don't even have legs before they're thirty! You absolute fools!"

Jack scanned the remaining pirates, his eyes narrowing. "You're all new recruits from Trow's lot, right? Did you think I'm as soft as that idiot? I'll show you what happens when you defy me."

He turned to Rim, Holdem, and Master. "Kill them all."

"Yes, Jack-sama!"

The execution was swift and brutal. The Fish-Men watched in stunned silence as Jack's men carried out his orders without hesitation. Rim's sword cleaved through flesh, Holdem's bullets pierced fleeing pirates, and Master ensured no one escaped. By the end, the beach was stained red, and the sobbing mermaids were gently helped to their feet.

"You saw that, didn't you?" a Fish-Man murmured. "They really obey his orders. Humans... killing their own for us."

Another nodded, disbelief in his voice. "Incredible... maybe he really means it."

Rim approached Jack and bowed. "Mission complete, Jack-sama."

"Good." Jack reverted to his human form, addressing the crowd once more. "That is the price of defying me. Now, any more questions?"

The Fish-Men remained silent. After a pause, one shouted:

"Jack-sama! I'm in!"

"Me too! Count me in!"

"Same here!"
