Docking the Ship at the pier, Byakuya disembarked with Nami by his side while soldiers followed behind, pushing Luffy in a wheelchair.

At that moment, Luffy's small head was filled with big questions.

Why didn't Nami, who was also a pirate, have to wear Seastone handcuffs or endure Byakuya's punches? It wasn't fair!

Luffy kept moving his only functional body part—his eyes—expressing his silent grievances.

But naive Luffy couldn't understand that there's a difference even in taking a beating. Some beatings are for survival, while others… are for pleasure.

As Byakuya stepped off the ship and saw Captain Vaughn waiting at the dock, a wave of emotion overcame him.

If not for Vaughn during his early days without a system, he would have likely perished at the hands of pirates.

"Captain Vaughn!" Byakuya embraced him, a flood of memories resurfacing.

Two years had passed, and Vaughn's physique, though still robust, bore the marks of time.

His figure was slightly more hunched, the wrinkles on his face were deeper, and a few strands of silver streaked his once jet-black hair.

Vaughn patted Byakuya's back gently and chuckled.

"You've become a Marine Admiral now. Why still call me Captain Vaughn?"

Byakuya scratched his head sheepishly, grinning. "Hehe, old habits die hard, I guess."

Beside them, Coby eagerly greeted Byakuya. "Admiral Byakuya!"

Byakuya reached out and ruffled Coby's soft, pink hair. "Coby, you've grown!"

Coby puffed up his chest slightly with pride. "Of course! Over the past two years, I've trained diligently under Captain Vaughn's guidance."

"Besides my height, my strength has improved leaps and bounds!"

This reunion with old friends filled Byakuya with a sense of contentment.

Then Nami stepped forward and asked Coby, "Do you remember me, Coby?"

Coby studied Nami for a moment, his eyes lighting up as if recalling a distant memory. "You're the big sister from Orange Town, right?"

Nami's face lit up with a sweet smile. "That's right. I'm Nami. You can call me Sister Nami from now on."

Vaughn glanced at Nami, then discreetly gave Byakuya a thumbs-up, as if saying, Not bad! You managed to bring back such a beautiful girlfriend!

Byakuya couldn't help but sweat nervously. And this is just Nami. If I brought everyone back, Vaughn might go crazy.

At that moment, Vaughn noticed Luffy sitting in the wheelchair, wrapped in bandages, and asked, "Who's this?"

"This is a pirate I captured along the way," Byakuya replied.

Vaughn's expression hardened a trace of disdain in his eyes. "Shouldn't pirates be locked up?"

"This one's grandfather is Vice Admiral Garp."

Vaughn immediately understood. Ah, so it's nepotism.

(T/N: I want to translate it as Favouritism, but seems cliche, so I google it the next best word and makes more sense. Nepotism: the practice among those with power or influence of favouring relatives, friends, or associates, especially by giving them jobs.)

Byakuya's days on Sky Island followed a simple routine: chatting with Captain Vaughn, occasionally guiding Coby's training, helping Nami "study," and, of course, regularly 'Teaching' the "Child of Destiny," Luffy.

The mix of tranquillity and amusement made Byakuya's life quite enjoyable.

Five days later, at dawn, Byakuya was woken by a call from Enel. "Admiral Byakuya, I've found the island you asked me to locate."

Hearing Enel's words, Byakuya immediately became alert. "Are you certain of its location?"

"Yes, it's in the sky not far from Loguetown," Enel confirmed.

His tone conveyed the effort it had taken him to pinpoint the location after five days of constant scouting over the East Blue.

"Send me the coordinates. You and your crew have completed your mission and can rest for now."

After hanging up, Byakuya started to rise, but a pair of soft arms wrapped around his neck.

Behind him, Nami's sleepy voice mumbled, "Brother, who was calling so early?"

As she spoke, her smooth, jade-like legs brushed against Byakuya's, sparking an immediate reaction in him.

"Does it matter who called? What matters is right now…"

Byakuya turned to see Nami's drowsy yet alluring expression, her slightly dishevelled state exposing much of her fair, delicate skin.

With a grin, he abandoned the idea of getting up and instead helped Nami "study" further.

When Byakuya finally emerged from the room, refreshed and invigorated, it was nearly noon.

Remembering Enel's report, he realized it was time to leave.

However, he planned to take Coby to Marine Headquarters this time so he could join the next Marine training camp.

Given Coby's potential as shown in the original story, he might not necessarily become an Admiral, but he could certainly rise to the rank of Vice Admiral among the Marine elite.

Leaving him on Skye Island would be a waste of his talent.

What surprised Byakuya was the camaraderie that had developed between Luffy and Coby, despite the absence of the original scenario where Luffy had rescued Coby.

Although close in age, Coby couldn't fathom why Luffy, with a Marine hero as his grandfather, would choose to become a pirate.

Luffy, on the other hand, passionately explained the allure of freedom, adventure, and the quest for the legendary One Piece.

The two grew closer through their contrasting perspectives.

Byakuya sought out Captain Vaughn at the base and informed him of his impending departure, including his intention to bring Coby to Marine Headquarters.

To Byakuya's surprise, before he could finish, Vaughn proactively suggested, "Byakuya, when you leave, take Coby with you."

Byakuya was surprised and said, "Captain Vaughn, even if you hadn't mentioned it, I was already planning to bring Coby with me."

"I didn't expect we'd think alike on this." Captain Vaughn smiled warmly and replied, "Coby's growth over the past two years has exceeded my expectations."

"I have nothing left to teach him. If it weren't for you, Coby would be the most talented young person I've ever seen."

Byakuya didn't doubt that for a second. Aside from everything else, Coby's natural talent for Observation Haki was far beyond ordinary.

This gave Byakuya great expectations for Coby's future development. When Byakuya informed Coby of the decision, the group headed to the harbour.

Byakuya waved as they prepared to depart, saying, "Captain Vaughn, we'll be leaving now."

Coby, his eyes brimming with tears, shouted, "Captain Vaughn, I'll train hard at Marine Headquarters and aim to become a Marine like Big Brother Byakuya!"

"I'll put an end to this chaotic Great Pirate Era and come back to visit you soon!"

Though Vaughn maintained a calm exterior, the separation pained him.

Over the past two years, Coby had formed a deep bond with Vaughn, and leaving so suddenly left him feeling torn.

Vaughn had also watched Byakuya grow up, making this farewell especially emotional.

Even Luffy, who wasn't particularly close to Vaughn, was affected by Coby's promise.

He pondered deeply, If the Great Pirate Era ended and there were no more pirates, would Coby and Captain Vaughn not have to part ways?

What do the words 'pirate' truly mean?

But for someone like Luffy, understanding such profound concepts would require experience—seeing, hearing, and feeling it all firsthand.

As the Polar Day set sail, Vaughn's figure on the dock grew smaller and smaller until it disappeared.

Byakuya stood at the bow, gazing toward the island of Skye.

He had considered inviting Vaughn to Marine Headquarters, as his status as a Marine Admiral gave him the authority to do so.

This way, Vaughn could stay close to both Byakuya and Coby. However, Vaughn had declined the offer.

To him, Skye Island was his birthplace and the place he swore to protect.

As the captain of the island's Marine branch, Vaughn felt it was his duty to defend its residents from pirate threats, even if it cost him his life.

While his body still had strength, leaving the island to follow Byakuya would feel like desertion.

No matter how much Byakuya tried to persuade him, Vaughn's resolve remained unshaken.

There was no way Byakuya could forcibly drag Vaughn to Marine Headquarters.

Instead, he left Vaughn with three quick-healing potions and ten healing serums.

While they couldn't regenerate a severed arm, they could save Vaughn's life in critical moments and even heal his internal injuries to improve his overall health.

Vaughn didn't reject these gifts and praised Byakuya for his accomplishments, assuming such resources came from Marine Headquarters.

If Vaughn knew the truth—that even the World Government wasn't aware of such miraculous items—his reaction would have been far greater.

Byakuya reminded Vaughn to keep the potions safe and hidden from others, doing all he could to ensure Vaughn's safety.

Fortunately, the pirates in the East Blue were generally weak.

Luffy's bounty of 22 million berries was almost unmatched in the region, underscoring how feeble most East Blue pirates were—except for one legendary figure who had recently arrived.

Not far from Loguetown, several floating islands hovered in the sky, resembling Sky Islands but without relying on sea clouds for support.

It was as if an unknown force was keeping them aloft.

Among these islands, the largest featured a grand palace surrounded by lush vegetation and teeming with animals.

A man with long, golden hair flowing like a lion's mane and a ship's wheel embedded in his head sat within the palace.

His golden sideburns and beard matched his hair, exuding an air of majesty. "How's the research on the rampaging beasts coming along?" he asked.

Hearing the question, Indigo, the Flying Pirates' doctor and combatant, quickly replied, "Admiral, the research is nearly complete."

"We can release the rampaging beasts and begin observing the results."

The man, known as the Admiral, was none other than the legendary pirate and Float-Float Fruit user, "Golden Lion" Shiki.

Years ago, Shiki had stormed Marine Headquarters alone to confront Roger's surrender, battling Sengoku and Garp in a clash that destroyed half of Marineford.

Though he was eventually captured and imprisoned in Impel Down, Shiki made history as the first inmate to escape by severing his legs.

Despite his past fame, Shiki has since faded into obscurity.

Rather than maintaining his strength or recruiting powerful subordinates, he focused on developing rampaging beasts—a misguided obsession that left him weaker over time.

This decline ultimately led to his defeat at the hands of a young Luffy, who had yet to master Haki.

Byakuya found this regression absurd. In a theatrical setting, Luffy's plot armour might make him invincible, but in reality, Shiki's actions seemed utterly irrational.

Shiki's current presence in the East Blue stemmed from his lingering hatred toward the region, where Roger had been executed.

His plan was simple: release rampaging beasts to devastate the East Blue, testing their strength before targeting Marine Headquarters.

Byakuya, however, found Shiki's ambitions laughable.

A single Marine Admiral could easily wipe out the rampaging beasts without breaking a sweat.

Nevertheless, to ensure Vaughn's safety, Byakuya resolved to eliminate all threats in East Blue, starting with Shiki.
