Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Shadows over the Village
The night air was cool, but tension simmered beneath the surface. The village was quiet—too quiet. Luffy stood at the edge of Grandpa Haru's hut, his eyes scanning the dimly lit streets under the pale moonlight. He could sense it—the weight of fear hanging over this place. These people had been crushed by oppression, and tonight, he would shatter that grip.
Zoro joined him, adjusting the borrowed swords at his side. His gaze was sharp, his body relaxed but prepared. "So, what's the plan?" he asked, his voice low, eyes flickering toward the main square where the pirates were rumored to gather.
Luffy grinned, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "We find these pirates. We break them. Simple."
Zoro smirked. "I like simple."
The two stepped into the shadows, moving silently through the village. Luffy's shadow soldier, whom he had mentally named Shade, emerged, slithering along the ground like a dark wraith, scouting ahead. The presence of the summoned soldier still sent a chill down Zoro's spine, but he had come to trust Luffy—or at least trust his strength.
As they moved, Luffy couldn't help but think back to his system.

The message had appeared just before they left Haru's hut. The system was pushing him, encouraging him to grow stronger through blood and conflict. He welcomed it. This was his path.
Near the village square, the sound of drunken laughter broke the stillness. Around a bonfire, a group of ragged pirates sat drinking, their voices loud and crude. Empty bottles littered the ground, and half-eaten food was strewn about carelessly. The sight disgusted Luffy.
He counted seven of them. All armed. All relaxed. They thought they owned this place.
Zoro glanced at Luffy. "How do you want to do this?"
Luffy stepped forward, his grin widening. "We crash the party."
Without hesitation, he strode into the firelight. The pirates turned, their faces shifting from confusion to anger.
"Who the hell are you?" a tall pirate with a missing ear growled. His name, from the whispers earlier, was Gido.
Luffy tipped his straw hat back. "Monkey D. Luffy. I'm here to break you."
The pirates erupted in laughter, mocking him. "You? You're dead, kid!" Gido spat, reaching for his cutlass.
Before Gido could draw his weapon, Luffy moved. His fist collided with Gido's jaw, sending the pirate sprawling into the dirt, his eyes rolling back. The laughter died instantly.
Zoro charged in, blades flashing under the moonlight. He cut down the nearest pirate, a burly man called Toma, with a swift strike across the chest. Toma collapsed, clutching his bleeding side, groaning in agony.
The remaining pirates scrambled, weapons drawn. The drunkest among them, a short man named Biko, stumbled forward with a rusty knife. Zoro easily sidestepped and slammed the hilt of his sword into Biko's stomach, dropping him instantly.
Luffy weaved between two others, a pair of brothers named Kran and Dilo, who wielded makeshift clubs. Luffy ducked under Kran's wild swing, driving his elbow into the man's ribs. Kran let out a wheeze and fell to his knees. Dilo tried to bring his club down on Luffy's head, but Shade emerged from the ground, grabbing Dilo's leg and pulling him into the shadows with a muffled scream.

The notifications flashed in his mind, fueling his adrenaline. He was growing. He was evolving.
Soon, only one pirate remained—their leader, Bruno. A tall, scarred man with a cruel smile. He held a jagged cutlass, and his eyes burned with rage. He had watched his crew fall with growing fury.
"You think you can come here and take us down?" Bruno growled, his knuckles white around his sword hilt.
Luffy stepped forward, his gaze unwavering. "I know I can."
Bruno roared, charging forward with surprising speed. His cutlass slashed downward, but Zoro intercepted, his borrowed swords locking against Bruno's. The clash of steel rang through the square. Luffy darted in from the side, his fist landing a heavy blow to Bruno's ribs.
The pirate captain stumbled back, breathing heavily, blood dripping from his mouth. He was strong, but Luffy and Zoro together were overwhelming.
"Finish it," Zoro said, stepping aside.
Luffy raised his fist for the final blow.
[Shadow Extraction Available]
The system whispered to him. He grinned. This one would serve him well.
With a swift punch to Bruno's face, the pirate leader fell to the ground, unconscious.

Bruno's shadow peeled from his body, rising to join Luffy's growing army. The dark figure knelt before him, awaiting orders. Luffy glanced at it, satisfaction blooming in his chest. This was his power.
The village awoke to the sound of the pirates' defeat. People emerged cautiously, their fear replaced with hope. They saw the beaten bodies, saw Luffy and Zoro standing victorious. Whispers spread. Their oppressors were gone.
Grandpa Haru approached, tears in his eyes. "Thank you… thank you both."
Luffy adjusted his hat, smiling. "No problem. We're pirates, after all."
Zoro smirked beside him. "Good pirates, apparently."
The journey continued, but now, Luffy had tasted the thrill of victory—and the power it brought. His army was growing. His legend had begun.
