One Piece: Starting in God Valley as a Slave

Chapter 351: Chapter 351: Uta

Over the years, Shanks had always kept an eye on Uta from afar. Thinking of her, a gentle smile appeared on his face as he said,

"That kid has really made a name for herself as a famous singer now. I'd love to attend one of her concerts someday!"

The Red-Haired Pirates chimed in agreement, expressing how much they also missed seeing Uta.

Carl, however, suddenly spoke up,

"If you want to see her, do it sooner rather than later. Actually, forget it—let's go now."

Shanks was taken aback, his expression puzzled.

"Now? There are some things you might not know. Back then..."

"Back then, you took the blame for her without her knowing. I'm aware."

"..."

"Don't look at me like that. Since Brûlée still needs time to fully awaken, I've got nothing pressing to do. I'll come with you."

Though Uta was only Shanks' adopted daughter, he had always treated her as his own flesh and blood. Given that, she was effectively Carl's niece.

The reason Carl wanted Shanks to go retrieve Uta as soon as possible was that, based on his knowledge, Uta didn't meet a good end. The odds were high that she wouldn't survive.

Thinking about his niece, who was fierce and ambitious even at a young age, Carl couldn't help but laugh softly. After all, she'd dreamed of unleashing her version of "Infinite Tsukuyomi." Even Madara from Naruto would have applauded her ingenuity.

Shaking his head with amusement, Carl glanced at Shanks, who was still lost in thought. His smile disappeared as he scolded,

"What are you standing around for? Hurry up and get the ship ready!"

Shanks snapped out of it. Though still confused, he dared not question Carl further after seeing his stern expression. He immediately shouted to his crew to prepare to set sail.

A bewildered Rockstar asked,

"Uh... Bosses, where are we heading?"

Carl replied flatly,

"Elegia."

...

In the Kingdom of Music, Elegia,

King Gordon sat on a couch, worry evident on his face. Not long ago, he'd received a call from Shanks, who said he would be visiting soon.

Shanks' purpose for coming was clear—it had to be about Uta.

Over the years, Uta had become more and more unpredictable. Gordon had considered telling her the truth about what happened back then, but Shanks had asked him not to. As a result, Uta's misunderstanding of Shanks only deepened over time.

As Gordon pondered, the door suddenly opened, and a young woman in a white dress stepped in. Her hair was strikingly unique, split down the middle with one side pink and the other white.

Seeing Gordon, she waved and called out,

"Teacher!"

Gordon was momentarily stunned before nodding slowly.

"Uta, you're here."

Walking over to him, Uta noticed his furrowed brows and asked,

"You seemed distracted during dinner last night. What's wrong? Did something happen?"

After a moment's hesitation, Gordon tentatively asked,

"Uta, do you still remember Shanks...?"

The mention of Shanks' name instantly darkened Uta's expression. She cut him off before he could finish,

"Please don't bring him up."

Gordon froze, then sighed and said,

"Uta, you're misunderstanding him. Back then..."

Once again, he was interrupted as Uta grew agitated, raising her voice,

"Don't bring up what happened back then! Just tell me—he's coming here, isn't he?"

Gordon could only nod helplessly.

Uta narrowed her eyes, suppressing the turbulent emotions surging within her. She asked in a low voice,

"What's he coming for? To take me away?"

"I don't know. He just said he wanted to see his daughter."

Hearing this, Uta could no longer hold back her emotions. Tears welled up in her eyes as she trembled, clenching her fists tightly.

"Now he wants to remember me? Too bad—it's too late!"

With that, she turned and stormed out, slamming the door behind her.

In her room, Uta threw herself onto her bed, burying her face into the pillow. A muffled sound of sobbing filled the space.

After what felt like an eternity, Uta sat up slowly, her expression cold and detached.

She looked up at the ceiling, tear streaks still visible on her cheeks.

"The plan needs to be moved up..."

At dinner, when Gordon saw Uta again, she was back to her usual self, chatting with him about music as if nothing had happened earlier.

The more normal she acted, the more uneasy Gordon felt.

After dinner, Gordon returned to his study and picked up a Den Den Mushi with red hair, dialing a number.

After a series of "brr-brr" sounds, Shanks' voice came through,

"Yo, Gordon. Calling this late—what's up?"

"Shanks, I mentioned you to Uta earlier today. Her reaction wasn't good. I'm worried..."

On the other end, Shanks was silent for a moment before speaking slowly,

"You can tell her the truth about what happened back then."

"I was going to, but she refused to hear anything about you and ran off before I could finish!"

"I see... She probably doesn't see me as her father anymore."

"Shanks, are you still coming?"

"Yeah. When I called you earlier, I was already on my way. I should be there by noon tomorrow."

Gordon's expression changed as he exclaimed,

"So soon?!"

"It's sudden, I know. But I can't let Uta resent me forever. Besides, I'm not the only one who wants to see her."

Gordon assumed Shanks was referring to his crew and didn't dwell on the remark.

After a moment of thought, he said,

"Alright. I guess it's best if you explain everything to her yourself. I hope you two can reconcile."

"Thank you, Gordon."

"I should be the one thanking you. If it weren't for you all those years ago, Elegia wouldn't even exist today."

"Haha, as her father, it was the least I could do."

At that moment, Gordon heard a faint sound outside the door. He set the Den Den Mushi down and went to check, but found nothing.

Around the corner, Uta stood silently, pressing her hand over her mouth as she leaned against the cold wall. Her heart was a storm of longing for Shanks.

But that longing was quickly consumed by a wave of anger and resentment. Her expression hardened as she stepped away from the wall, disappearing into the darkness.
