Chapter 16: Hancock Also Wants To Be Handsome
"Master, I've finished reading."
Robin didn't keep Kahn and the others waiting. After deciphering the historical text, she immediately said to Kahn, "This Poneglyph records that the location of 'Poseidon,' one of the three legendary Ancient Weapons, is 10,000 meters below the Sabaody Archipelago, on Fish-Man Island."
Robin, who had fully committed herself to Kahn, held no secrets from him. Even if Kahn's ambition was to awaken the Ancient Weapon, Robin would help him without hesitation. This loyalty stemmed from being saved as an adult, contrasting with her childhood naivety. As an adult, Robin could think critically about the consequences of her actions.
"Ancient Weapon?"
Kahn pretended to be surprised, "The Ancient Weapon, dubbed the title of God in legend, actually exists?"
"Yes, I'm very shocked, too." Robin nodded, a gloomy look flashing in her eyes. She now understood why Ohara had been destroyed by the Buster Call and accused of trying to awaken the Ancient Weapon. Some Poneglyphs indeed contained information about these weapons, making scholars the key to their awakening.
"It was a pleasant surprise."
Kahn, with his insight into people's hearts, read Robin's thoughts. However, he didn't explain that the World Government had also eradicated Ohara to suppress knowledge of the blank century, fearing it more than the awakening of Ancient Weapons.
"Robin, there's another piece of text here."
Hancock's voice brought Robin back to her senses. Looking where Hancock pointed, she saw another ancient inscription on the Poneglyph.
"I came here to bring this article to the end of the world—Pirates...Gol D. Roger?!"
Robin's eyes widened in shock, "Gol D ROger, he also came to Sky Island? And why did he write in ancient characters?!"
Of course, it's because of 'everyone's favourite' Kozuki Oden, Kahn thought to himself. But aloud, he sighed, "As expected of the Grand Line, any island can have thrilling adventures that West Blue doesn't. I'm getting more and more interested in the New World, the strongest sea."
"One Piece Gol D. Roger, sister, I think I've heard of that name."
"It is said he was the king of all pirates, but unfortunately, he's dead."
The three Boa sisters discussed Roger. Since no one could explain her doubts, Robin suppressed her shock and curiosity. She realized that the world held countless secrets.
After viewing the Golden Bell, Kahn and his crew descended from the top of the vine and explored the forested area of Shandora. Soon, they stumbled upon a huge pile of gold among the ruins.
"It's unbelievable! Is this all gold?"
"Is it real gold or fake gold?"
"If it's real, why is it just thrown here like garbage? Are the people of Sky Island so rich?"
The three Boa sisters were astonished at the sight of so much gold.
Seeing the huge amount of gold mixed with stones, the three Boa sisters were immediately shocked.
Even though they came from a windless area with no surrounding islands for trade and had to raid pirates or merchant ships for supplies, they understood the importance of gold. Seeing such a massive amount left casually by the Sky Island people, who considered Blue Sea residents wealthy, was bewildering.
"The gold should all be real," Robin said calmly. "The currency used by people on Sky Island is extols. Berries are valuable here, but that doesn't mean gold is as well."
"Sky Island has no land; the only land is this island. Most of their tools are special shells, and they may not have much metal here, so gold is almost like waste."
"I see."
The three Boa sisters were stunned for a moment, and then Mary's eyes lit up. "Since the gold is real, aren't we getting rich?"
"Exactly," Kahn smiled and nodded. "As long as we take this gold, we won't have to worry about money for at least ten years."
"Great!"
Mary and Sonia burst into cheers while Hancock folded her arms, trying to remain calm. Recently, she had realized that, compared to Kahn and Robin's composed demeanor, she and her sisters often reacted with surprise to everything. She found this embarrassing and wanted to emulate Kahn and Robin's calmness.
Seeing her sisters picking up gold pieces the size of stones, Hancock suddenly asked Kahn, "Master, each piece of gold is so big. Can the Grandigne's cabin hold it all?"
"Good question."
Kahn, impressed by Hancock's quick thinking, gave her a thumbs up and then looked at Robin, who was also smiling. "This requires us to use our secret weapon."
"Secret weapon?"
Hancock tilted her head, a big question mark practically visible on her delicate face.
Kahn didn't answer immediately but said, "Sonia, Mary, come back first."
After the two returned with gold bricks, Kahn said to Robin, "Robin, take that thing out."
"Yes, Master."
Robin nodded and, under the curious gaze of the Boa sisters, opened the silver metal box she always carried when they went out.
