Chapter 31: Another Pair Of Sisters
Following Scarlett to the flower field, Robin and the three sisters immediately fell in love with this paradise.
Looking up, the field was filled with golden flowers.
Even the sea breeze blowing to the island carried a faint floral fragrance instead of the usual salty smell.
Kahn was also very satisfied with this place and immediately marked an open space outside the flower field to build a villa. He handed over the project to Dressrosa's construction company.
"Mr Kahn, building a villa is a big project. Why don't you stay at King's Palace first?" Scarlett's eyes lit up as she invited him.
Kahn shook his head and declined, "No, I can use telekinetic power to move the sailboat here, and Mary, a Castle Caste Fruit user, has her castle where we can stay."
"I see," Scarlett said, a hint of disappointment in her eyes.
Seeing this, Kyros felt even more bitter, though he was relieved Kahn wouldn't stay at King's Palace. However, Kahn's next words made Scarlett almost cheer.
"Your Highness, you don't need to call me Mr Kahn anymore. We're about the same age. Just call me Kahn," he said, extending his hand to her. "Let's get to know each other again. My name is Cross Kahn. I am fifteen years old. Please take care of me!"
"Hmm... Kahn, don't call me Your Highness anymore," Scarlett said, smiling as she shook his hand. "My name is Scarlett. I am sixteen years old. Please take care of me too."
"I understand, Scarlett," Kahn nodded solemnly, making her even happier.
She turned to Kahn and asked, "Kahn, you must have just arrived in Dressrosa. Shall I show you around?"
"If you don't mind, that would be great, Scarlett."
"Hee hee... you're welcome."
In truth, Kahn had no interest in touring Dressrosa. But seeing Scarlett's growing affection for him, he became interested in the idea.
As the eldest princess of Dressrosa, Scarlett's status was quite high. She was King Riku's favourite daughter, Viola's favourite sister, and a beautiful girl, only a bit less stunning than Hancock. More importantly, she had no powers!
She might be a rough gem worth polishing.
Robin and the three sisters—Hancock, Mary, and Sonia—all had Devil Fruits, and Kahn already had a fruit in mind for Sonia. His targets this time, Violet and Mansherry, were also fruit users.
In other words, his current and future family members were all Devil Fruit users. But Kahn, a time traveller, knew that during this period, many rare Devil Fruits were still unclaimed.
What Kahn needed now wasn't another Devil Fruit but a trustworthy non-user.
And now, Scarlett seemed to be offering herself.
Maybe... he could gain another pair of sisters on this trip.
With this in mind, Kahn's eyes on Scarlett changed, and he became more eager to shop and chat with her.
If Robin and the three sisters weren't so young and unaware of the nuances of adult relationships, they would undoubtedly call Kahn a scumbag.
The flower fields at dusk were even more beautiful than during the day, like a golden world.
In the open space outside the flower field, a medium-sized two-masted sailing ship was parked, resting in a large pool Kahn had created with his telekinesis.
"...The price is acceptable. I will transfer 10 million berries to your bank account tomorrow."
"No problem, we believe in your credibility, Mr. Kahn. I'll fax you the information now."
"Pleasure doing business."
On the lawn-style deck, Kahn, who had spent the day shopping with Scarlett, sat on an open-air sofa, holding a Den Den Mushi and talking to someone while Robin and the sisters prepared dinner.
When the Den Den Mushi closed its eyes and went to sleep, Kahn didn't waste any time. A special Den Den Mushi and a fax machine floated out of the cabin.
Kahn picked up a teacup and took a sip of black tea, using his telekinetic power to operate the fax machine.
The special Den Den Mushi opened its eyes, seemingly contacting its counterparts somewhere in the sea.
After a while, a few sheets of paper filled with information were printed out by the fax machine.
Kahn picked up the papers and looked at the intelligence he had just purchased from the black market.
Yes, Kahn had been speaking with someone from the black market.
In this world, there are also banks and hospitals. For example, Senor Pink, an officer of the Donquixote Family, had lied to his wife, saying he worked in a bank. Hospitals are also prevalent, as seen when Doflamingo's brother Rosinante took Trafalgar Law all over North Blue seeking treatment.
The information Kahn received was a power map of the New World pirates. At the top was the uncrowned king of the Great Pirate Era, recognized as the world's strongest: the Whitebeard Pirates.
The list included territories where the Whitebeard Pirates had planted their flags. Unlike other crews, the Whitebeard Pirates didn't have a single base camp. Their territory, protected by their flags, spanned numerous towns across the New World.
This was an incredible number. Kahn had managed to plant flags in over 200 towns in West Blue because it's one of the four largest sea areas in the world and has the most islands. The Grand Line, by contrast, is just a route between the four seas and the Calm Belt, and the New World makes up half of this route.
In this vast area, the Whitebeard Pirates truly earned their reputation as the world's strongest pirates. Their numerous flagged towns represented a significant portion of the New World's territory—a huge piece of cake.
Whoever could take this territory would instantly become the new uncrowned king, the strongest overlord of the New World.
