Chapter 5: Secrets And Hole Cards, Reading People's Hearts
"The strongest supernova in history?"
On the lawn deck of the Ship, Kahn was lounging on a single sofa, holding a cup of black tea made by Robin in one hand and today's Newspaper in the other.
After a casual glance at the headline, Kahn tossed the newspaper aside, grumbling, "That bird brain will write anything for sales! Isn't he afraid of offending two people at once?"
Kahn knew he didn't deserve the title of the strongest supernova in history.
Before he crossed over, One Piece had just started its final chapter. At that time, the strongest supernova in history was the Pirate Queen "BIG MOM" Charlotte Linlin. She had a bounty of 50 million Berries when she was six years old, which rose to 500 million Berries a few years later.
"A few years" typically means more than three years but less than ten. So, when Charlotte Linlin's bounty reached 500 million Berries, she was no older than fifteen, maybe even younger.
Kahn is also 15 years old this year, but his 300 million bounty in West Blue is nothing compared to Charlotte Linlin's 500 million bounty in the New World.
Morgans' exaggerated praise can easily offend people.
If it weren't for the time when Charlotte Linlin became famous, which was when the Rocks Pirates hadn't reached their peak, this would be a different story. But now, not only is the Rocks era over, but so is Roger's.
Morgans' newspaper would not only offend Charlotte Linlin and Kahn but it would also be ridiculed by the world.
As it stands, the newspaper only offends Charlotte Linlin and also makes Kahn a target.
Kahn could already imagine that as soon as he landed on an island, those seeking fame would do everything they could to assassinate him.
The reasoning is simple...
If I kill the world's strongest man, I become the new world's strongest. Similarly, if I kill the strongest supernova in history, then I become the new strongest supernova in history.
Unless Kahn proves himself on the Grand Line, those idiots will keep coming after him.
Of course, fame has its perks.
Kahn only needs to go to a crowded place, raise his arms, and he could quickly form a large crew of thousands.
But he won't do that.
Feeding thousands of people every day costs a fortune.
And a large fleet, like Don Krieg's 5,000-man fleet, is vulnerable. If they encounter a powerhouse like Hawkeye, he could decimate them with a few swings of his sword.
"Master, here are the items."
Just as Kahn finished complaining, Robin approached with a small wooden box in both hands.
Taking the box, Kahn opened it.
Inside were ten glass balls, three ordinary Log Pose and seven Eternal Pose.
West Blue, North Blue, and South Blue are different from East Blue, which is the weakest sea. The former sees a large number of pirates entering the Grand Line every year, while the latter fears the Grand Line, calling it the graveyard of pirates.
In East Blue, a bounty of 30 million Berries would break records. In the other three seas, pirates with bounties over 50 million or even nearly 100 million appear every year.
Therefore, the Grand Line is not a mysterious place for those from West Blue.
After his parents' death, Kahn decided to enter the Grand Line. If it weren't for training Capone Bege and Robin, he would have ventured there alone at the age of ten. These ten glass balls were also bought by Kahn when he was ten years old. Now was the time to use them.
Taking out one of the glass balls, Kahn placed it on the tea table in front of him and then waved his hand.
Whoosh--
As the blue aura of his thought power emerged, a gust of wind suddenly filled the opened sails. The Ship, which had been moving slowly, suddenly increased in speed, advancing rapidly like an arrow piercing through the air.
"The capital of waters.... Water 7... Master, are we going to remodel the Ship?" Robin asked curiously, glancing at the letters on the Eternal Pose.
"No, we're heading to the Sabaody Archipelago," Kahn replied. "I'm choosing the Water 7 because it's one of the islands closest to Sabaody."
Hearing this, Robin nodded in understanding. She didn't ask Kahn what he planned to do at Sabaody Archipelago but instead picked up the teapot and refilled Kahn's cup with black tea. Then, standing behind him with her hands crossed in front of her chest, she used her Hana Hana no Mi fruit powers to create several arms that appeared out of thin air on the sofa, helping Kahn by massaging his shoulders, legs, and head.
Kahn closed his eyes, enjoying Robin's massage skills.
After their lunch break, Kahn began guiding Robin in her training. In his previous life, he had been a hopeless maid connoisseur. After taking Robin under his wing, he was determined to train her to be an all-around maid. As one of the brightest women on the sea, Robin did not disappoint Kahn. In two years, she had become an exceptional maid.
The ship is a medium-sized brig over 100 meters long, with five cabins—three below deck and two above. Cleaning such a large ship took a lot of time. But Kahn didn't hire anyone else. He and Robin managed all the housework.
Psychic power, Natural Observation Haki, and the Paramecia Hana Hano no Mi Fruit allowed Kahn and Robin to sit on the deck and chat while cleaning the entire ship.
In addition to being skilled in all household tasks, Robin's strength had surpassed her original self. At eleven years old, she was stronger than her 28-year-old self from the original story. This dramatic change in just two years was thanks to Kahn's guidance.
Being a time traveller is Kahn's secret, as is his natural Observation of Haki. No matter how close he was to someone, Kahn never revealed his identity as a time traveller. Similarly, he would never reveal his natural Observation of Haki, which had the ability to read minds, unless discovered.
Reading minds has two abilities. One is reading memory; by touching the target's body, he can read their memories. The more memories read the more Haki is consumed. This is an active skill. The second is seeing through people's hearts; all targets in Kahn's vision and perception range, no matter what they are thinking, will have their thoughts read by Kahn. This ability consumes very little Haki, making it a passive ability that is always on.
With this secret trump card, Kahn easily discovered the undercover agents of the Cross family. This was why Kahn left his home island. Killing one batch of undercover agents would only bring more. He didn't want to harm the veterans, so he simply left, taking the Ship and planting flags everywhere.
A few years ago, while collecting protection fees, Kahn encountered a good CP agent. He decisively took action to eliminate him, read his memories, and obtained the training methods for "Rokushiki" Marine Six Styles of combat techniques.
This was why Robin surpassed her 28-year-old self at the age of eleven—by practising Rokushiki. Although she hadn't mastered all of them yet, she was now a little powerhouse, having mastered one and a half moves.
