Chapter 136: Chapter 136: Kaido: "I'm Not a Coward, and Now My Kid's Gone?!"
"I am..." Jack roared in rage, his body beginning to swell.
Zoan-Type, Ancient Model—Mammoth Form.
Suddenly, an enraged mammoth loomed over them, emanating a fierce aura.
With just one hand, Shakky grabbed the mammoth's thrashing trunk and started swinging the giant beast, smashing it into the ground repeatedly.
Again and again.
The mammoth was left battered and bloody.
"Who are you, brat?" Shakky asked, her tone cold.
"I...!" Jack began, before Shakky shoved a lit cigarette butt into his mouth, prompting a scream of agony.
Among the Sun and Moon Pirates, Shakky was the most pirate-like of all.
She picked Jack up by his collar and slapped him awake. "Why are you just standing there? Call for backup! Or do you need me to contact Kaido for you?"
Jack was sobbing now.
"Good thing Kaido's not here. We wouldn't want a reputation for bullying the weak. Otherwise, brat, with that temper of yours, you'd already be dead," Shakky said, tossing Jack to the ground.
She lit another cigarette.
Swaggering back, hips swaying gracefully, her demeanor was both elegant and bewitching.
The watching Beast Pirates gulped in terror. She was terrifying—a witch, no less, and undoubtedly a devil. It made sense now why she was called the Witch of the Sea.
"This...?"
Yamato's eyes were wide, staring directly at Shakky.
"So strong..." she whispered, finally understanding that the pirate crew she had just joined was far from ordinary.
"Who are you all, really?" Yamato turned her gaze to Kuke and the others, suddenly sensing a mysterious aura around them.
"Us? Just another Yonko crew. Your dad, Kaido, is one of the Four Emperors, and we're here... looking for him," Gion said, patting Yamato on the shoulder. "Our Captain is Kuke!"
"Yonko...?" Yamato gaped at Kuke.
For the first time, she heard that title.
Kuke was on the same level as her terrifying father?
Could that be real?
To Yamato, Kuke had simply seemed like a good-looking outsider who had come along and granted her freedom—a genuinely good person.
Only now did she realize...
She had hitched her wagon to a major star.
"I... I..." Yamato was so excited she could barely speak. Slowly, a smile formed on her face. "So... we don't need to run anymore, do we? Captain, can you help me teach that bastard a lesson?"
Kuke glanced at her. This girl was truly eager to be a dutiful kid.
One could only wonder how Kaido would react once he returned.
Would he shed tears?
"Shakky, get the location of the Beast Pirates' treasure vault."
"Understood."
Shakky's eyes swept over Jack.
Jack shivered, genuinely on the verge of tears.
"Will you lead us there yourself, or should we...?"
...
...
Meanwhile.
Onboard a Beast Pirates ship.
Kaido stood confidently at the bow.
"A few more days and we'll reach Fish-Man Island. You won't be able to stall any longer, Kuke."
Suddenly, King, the Conflagration, appeared behind Kaido.
"What's wrong?"
"Kuke led the Sun and Moon Pirates to Onigashima," King said heavily, his voice filled with grim seriousness.
Kaido stiffened, his neck turning slowly.
"What did you say?!"
"It's true. A message just came from Onigashima, asking for help."
Kaido's heart sank.
"We're doomed, everything's doomed. Onigashima, Wano—it's all over," Queen, the Plague, wailed.
The forces left behind at home...
There's no way they could match the Sun and Moon Pirates.
It was all over.
"Damn it, this is too underhanded," Kaido roared in frustration.
"Boss Kaido, actually, Kuke did tell us in advance that he was heading to Onigashima," King quietly reminded him.
This wasn't underhanded.
Kaido froze.
He was at a loss for words, almost choking in frustration.
"Quick, we need to head back immediately!" Kaido shouted, frantic to return at once.
Kaido almost cried at his own stupidity.
The massive pirate ship turned around, heading back as quickly as possible.
To make matters worse, a few hours later, the newspaper issued by Morgans reached the public.
Kaido's eyes widened in fury, his entire face turning green with anger.
His trembling hand pointed at the paper.
"Who said I was scared? When did I ever back down?! I'm no coward, damn it!!"
Kaido's roar exploded across the calm sea, sending up countless waves.
"This time, there's no talking your way out of it. Deny it all you want; the world will still think you were scared," Queen sighed, already picturing the mocking laughter of the world.
"Boss Kaido, there's one more thing," King said, meeting Kaido's rage-filled eyes, his tone mournful. "Yamato... has defected."
Kaido: "..."
Grabbing the newspaper, Kaido's eyes scanned the headlines.
"My idiot child actually joined the Sun and Moon Pirates?!" Kaido felt his blood boil, his veins bulging as though they might tear through his face.
"Hah! Yamato defected? And now the world knows about her identity too? This... this is a total disaster," Queen slumped to the ground, drained of strength.
They'd been completely humiliated.
He looked toward Kaido.
They had marched off, fully intent on stealing away Kuke's crewmembers.
Yet, they hadn't even seen them.
And instead, it was Kaido's own daughter who had been taken.
This had turned into a colossal joke across the sea.
"Head back. This isn't over. We only need to defeat Kuke, defeat the Sun and Moon Pirates, and everything will change," Kaido declared, looking down at his many officers.
The Lead Performers, the Tobi Roppo, and the Numbers—all of them trembled in fear.
Never before had they seen Kaido this furious.
"We're going to war with the Sun and Moon Pirates," Black Maria said, visibly nervous.
As a fellow woman.
She was more curious about the all-female crew of the Sun and Moon Pirates than anyone else.
...
No matter how furious Kaido was, he couldn't change the fact that the whole ocean was buzzing with laughter at his expense.
"Hahaha, what a joke! The Beast Pirates went off all fired up to pick a fight with the Sun and Moon Pirates, and now they've run off?"
"Kuke told Kaido he was heading to Wano. Now the supposed host ran away. What a disgrace."
"And the funniest thing is that Kaido's own daughter defected, willingly joining the Sun and Moon Pirates. Kaido has utterly humiliated himself."
"Tch, Emperor of the Sea, Kaido? More like Clown Emperor Kaido."
Kaido and the Beast Pirates had become the butt of jokes across the sea.
Big Mom couldn't help but laugh until her sides hurt. "That idiot Kaido, played like a fool, what an idiot."
Humiliating.
So humiliating.
"Mama... Who knew Kaido had a daughter, and that she'd join Kuke?" Big Mom thought aloud, laughing even harder. He couldn't even protect his own kid.
And yet he dared to say he'd take members from the Sun and Moon Pirates?
"There's no way I'd make a fool of myself like that idiot Kaido."
"Idiot! Idiot!" The Five Elders cursed Kaido.
"Didn't you used to act all high and mighty?"
Causing countless troubles for the Marines, and now, when facing Kuke, you're this much of a disgrace?
Even managed to lose your daughter.
They almost wanted to see whether Kaido or Sengoku could lose face more spectacularly.
And with the Sun and Moon Pirates growing even stronger, the Five Elders were once again losing their appetite.
