One Piece: The Strongest Female Pirate Crews

Chapter 216: Chapter 216: Double Reversal, The Five Elders Become a Joke

Today, two newspapers emerged across the seas.

One was the official World Government newspaper.

The other was the publication of "News King" Morgans' newspaper agency.

However, the content differed significantly.

The World Government's newspaper detailed the Navy's operation led by Admiral Akainu, who ventured into the New World and captured numerous pirates, including several with bounties over 100 million. The operation was hailed as a remarkable success.

When people read this news, they couldn't help but marvel at Admiral Akainu's consistent strength and ferocity.

Meanwhile, Morgans' newspaper offered a detailed account of the events on Lodestar Island.

Thanks to exclusive reporting on major events like Wano Country and Totto Land, Morgans' agency had gained immense influence in the New World, rivaling that of the World Government's press.

Pirates, in particular, favored subscribing to Morgans' papers.

When the report was published, the seas were shaken.

Morgans, ever the master of captivating headlines, divided the newspaper into two parts.

On the front page, the report detailed the ambush set up by the World Government on Lodestar Island. It described how three of the Five Elders, accompanied by the Navy's top forces, prepared to trap the Sun and Moon Pirates. The story included photographs—a frozen Radiant Eclipse amidst the sea, with the Five Elders, Akainu, and others on the shore.

Readers were stunned.

"Why? Why?"

Red-Haired Shanks was bewildered. "I warned Kuke, so why did he still go to Lodestar Island? Isn't that walking straight into a trap?"

"Because he's Kuke," Ben Beckman speculated. "A man like him wouldn't retreat just because of danger."

"This is terrifying. I can understand the Navy's full mobilization given the Sun and Moon Pirates, but I never thought three of the Five Elders would show up."

"And it's not just the Five Elders—there are also these mysterious World Government enforcers. They must be formidable."

"The Sun and Moon Pirates are in grave danger."

Jesus Burgess and others examined the photo on the front page, which framed all the major figures, including Akainu and the Five Elders.

The mere sight of this image struck fear into the hearts of pirates everywhere, evoking an unprecedented sense of oppression.

"This is likely the greatest crisis in the history of the Sun and Moon Pirates—no, in all of history," Ben Beckman said gravely. "I can't imagine anyone standing against such power."

Kaido's Reaction

On Onigashima, Kaido was restless.

"The World Government has lost its mind! Sending three of the Five Elders—this is insanity!" Even in his own stronghold, Kaido felt the chill of mortality creeping closer.

"Gather everyone," he roared, his voice echoing across the island.

"Governor Kaido, are we going to support the Sun and Moon Pirates?"

"Boss, are you really planning to do this?"

King looked on in alarm. This better not be a mad decision.

"Support? Hell no. Anyone who goes to support them now is as good as dead. I'm worried that after dealing with the Sun and Moon Pirates, the World Government might turn their sights on us. That'd be trouble. I'm calling you all to prepare for a retreat. We'll hide for a while, and when these World Government maniacs leave the New World, we'll return."

"Brilliant, boss!"

The Beasts Pirates cheered for Kaido's decisiveness. Truly wise.

"Wait, boss. There's more on the back of the paper," King said, noticing the fluttering pages in Kaido's hand.

"What?"

Kaido frowned and turned the paper over. He had been so shocked earlier that he hadn't noticed there was more content.

"Could this be the details of the battle? Have the Sun and Moon Pirates already been destroyed?"

Kaido's gaze shifted to the back page.

His eyes widened as he read, and his jaw dropped.

"Huh? Huh? HUH?!"

The content detailed how the Sun and Moon Pirates vanished instantly, leaving the Five Elders in a fury. It described how the Five Elders threatened multiple newspaper agencies to suppress the news and how Akainu had opportunistically captured the pirates who failed to escape. Everything was laid bare, without sparing the World Government's dignity.

There was even a photo—the empty ice field left after the Radiant Eclipse had disappeared, with only faint traces of its prior presence.

"They left? They teleported away?"

Kaido flipped the paper back and forth, scrutinizing every word to ensure he missed nothing.

"Kuke has such a power?" Kaido swallowed hard.

It's over.

Kaido slumped into his seat, eyes hollow, muttering, "It's over. It's over..."

Any hope of surpassing the Sun and Moon Pirates was gone. But as he thought about it more, he realized he never really stood a chance—even without teleportation.

With this realization, Kaido's frustration faded. His mood improved, enough to sneer at the World Government.

"Hahaha! What a bunch of incompetents! Even the Five Elders turned into a joke! They're worse than me!"

Kaido's confidence surged, his head held high in smug superiority.

Whitebeard's Reaction

Meanwhile, aboard the Moby Dick, Whitebeard and his sons experienced a similar rollercoaster of emotions.

After reading the back page, the ship fell silent for a long time.

The revelations were overwhelming. Whitebeard didn't even know where to start his shock.

Should he marvel at the Five Elders' personal involvement? At the forces they deployed? Or at the utterly bizarre conclusion?

"If it were anyone else—any other pirate crew, even Roger's—I'd find it unbelievable. But since it's the Sun and Moon Pirates, it feels both unexpected and inevitable," Marco remarked.

Diamond Jozu and the others nodded in agreement. They felt the same.

"No, something's wrong," Whitebeard said, his brows knitting together.

"What is it, Pops? Did you notice something?"

Whitebeard stared at the photo of the many powerful figures assembled and voiced his unease: "The World Government and Navy deployed nearly all their forces and failed to achieve their goal. Frustrated, will they turn their sights on us?"

The more Whitebeard thought about it, the more worried he became.

The signs were already there in the report. Unable to capture the Sun and Moon Pirates, Akainu had taken out his frustration on other pirates.

To save face, it seemed likely that the World Government might target major pirates like Whitebeard and Kaido.

"No way, right?" Marco and the others were alarmed.

If those forces came for them, they were doomed.

"What are you afraid of? We'll lay low for a while. The World Government and Navy won't stay in the New World forever. Once they leave, we'll reemerge," Whitebeard reassured them, issuing an order for the crew to hide temporarily.

Other pirates across the New World came to similar conclusions. Instead of mocking the World Government and Navy, they scrambled to hide, terrified of becoming collateral damage to their humiliation.
